Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Feature-wise, we mostly use IPS because it is a security requirement to protect against attacks from outside and inside. This is where IPS helps us out a bunch.""Provides good integrations and reporting.""Web filtering is a big improvement for us. The previous version we used, the AC520, did not have that feature included. It was not very easy for us, especially because the environment had to be isolated and we needed to get updates from outside, such as Windows patches. That feature has really helped us when we are going outside to pull those patches.""Firepower has been used for quite a few enterprise clients. Most of our clients are Fortune 500 and Firepower is used to improve their end to end firewall functionality.""You do not have to do everything through a command line which makes it a lot easier to apply rules.""I have integrated it for incidence response. If there is a security event, the Cisco firewall will automatically block the traffic, which is valuable.""The most important features are the intrusion prevention engine and the application visibility and control. The Snort feature in Firepower is also valuable.""The implementation is pretty straightforward."

"Very reliable solution with good scalability and straightforward implementation.""Five out of five ROI.""The installation is easy, we have not had any complaints from our customers."

More Hillstone E-Series Pros →

"The most valuable features are the WAN optimization, the internet access gateway (IAG), and the central console, which allows us to implement on their firewall.""Sangfor NGAF works accordingly with our customers. The solution has good performance, easy to use, and integrates well with the endpoints.""We've found the technical support to be helpful.""While the features are not dissimilar to other brands, configuration is much more simple, which works out great for Indonesian people.""In terms of the most valuable features, the IPS report is quick and updated. Performance is also valuable.""In four steps one can configure the entire firewall.""Sangfor has the best capabilities for securing connections, securing web browsers, securing servers, and general threat protection.""It's a very simple to use product."

Cons
"The Firepower FTD code is missing some old ASA firewalls codes. It's a small thing. But Firepower software isn't missing things that are essential, anymore.""We're getting support but there's a big delay until we get a response from their technical team. They're in the USA and we're in Africa, so that's the difficulty. When they're in the office, they respond.""It's mainly the UI and the management parts that need improvement. The most impactful feature when you're using it is the user interface and the user experience.""It would be great if some of the load times were faster.""One feature I would like to see, that Firepower doesn't have, is email security. Perhaps in the future, Cisco will integrate Cisco Umbrella with Firepower. I don't see why we should have to pay for two separate products when both could be integrated in one box.""Web filtering needs improvement because sometimes the URL is miscategorized.""The initial setup could be simplified, as it can be complex for new users.""FlexConfig is there as a bridge for features that are not yet natively integrated into Firepower. It is a way of allowing you to be able to configure things that wouldn't otherwise be possible until the development team can add them into Firepower's native capability. There is still some work that needs to be done around FlexConfig. There are still quite a few complex things, like policy-based routing, that have to be done in FlexConfig, and it doesn't always work perfectly. Sometimes, there are some glitches. It is recommended that you configure FlexConfig policies with Cisco TAC. It would be good to see Cisco accelerate some of those configurations that you can only do in FlexConfig into the platform, so that they are there natively."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons →

"SSL VPN license cost is not cheap."

More Hillstone E-Series Cons →

"I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions.""The solution has too many bugs and these slow down the implementation.""An area for improvement would be the number of ports defined on the box. In the next release, I would like them to develop their provisioning stage of enrolling end devices.""The web interface needs to be improved, making it more user-friendly.""They need to increase the number of ports in the firewall.""Occasional issues with breaches which are dealt with expediently."
