Clunky with poor interface, lacks sufficient functionalities; it did reduce need for in-person meetings
We're phasing out the use of GoToMeeting because of some of its deficiencies. It lacks ease of connectivity, calendar integrations, and third-party app integrations. The user interface is quite poor and needs to be reworked and the product is quite clunky in comparison to its competitors. It currently lacks the ability for sharing collaborative materials during a meeting. We also found that the ability to switch between audio and video configurations isn't as intuitive as in other applications. I generally do 20-30 hours of video conferencing a day, so it makes a difference to have these features. It doesn't integrate as easily into phone systems as well as other organizations and it doesn't integrate as easy into instant messaging and collaboration tools or into software solutions. In general, some of the functionalities need to be improved.

Have streamlined daily workflow and task management but still face inconvenience from recent interface changes and limited integration options
There are challenges and issues in Microsoft Teams, such as after recent updates where group chats were combined with Teams, chats, and groups into one. Users have to work with settings to make it normal again so Teams are separated from chats, and that was a really inconvenient update. Many users ask me to help make it back again to separate Teams and groups from one-to-one chats. That's probably the worst update they've made recently. Additionally, there are some minor features, such as when I work with messages, I don't have an actual forward or quote option when replying to someone's message. I need to be careful not to miss the quote sign. For a lot of people, they are confused about where the quotes option is. I've received a couple of hundred support tickets just regarding this issue. The function to share email to Teams chat doesn't work sometimes due to our compliance policies, and sometimes it would be nice to be able to forward an email to the group chat and have further discussions. Microsoft Teams could improve by being less glitchy because it glitches a lot, leading to undelivered emails and undelivered messages. It would be beneficial if the MS application Shifts, which adds functionality to groups, could be integrated into the groups calendar. Currently, many teams don't use the app because it is not integrated with the general calendar or the Outlook calendar, making it basically a useless application. The platform needs less Copilot and more people. The general Copilot integration into the platform is less glitchy, but Microsoft Teams is quite heavy and glitchy sometimes. Stability depends a lot on compliance restrictions, policies, and quality of internet. Sometimes, when updates are enrolling, the platform glitches, breaks, or shuts down.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The key advantage of GoToMeeting is the ability to use it without installing anything."
"Ease of setup and login by attendees. Facilitates sharing visually, and not just via audio."
"Screenshare is the most valuable feature as well as the number of meeting participants possible in a meeting. It also has good quality."
"Reduced the need for physically commuting between offices."
"There is no lagging and the meeting interaction is seamless."
"GoToMeeting is very handy. It's good software. I would definitely recommend it."
"The most important feature for me was the iPhone app."
"We can record meetings and share the screen with participants."
"The transcription feature is great."
"The solution's scalability works well."
"For me, Microsoft Teams' most valuable features are online meetings, calls, and chat. While I also use it to access OneDrive and my calendar, the core functions I rely on are meetings and calls."
"The installation is very, very easy."
"It is a stable solution."
"It's great for meetings and even hybrid classes, for example, where the teacher has students attending in person and online at the same time. It's really convenient for that too, and I like that you can easily share presentations."
"It's great for meeting conferences."
"Microsoft Teams is a scalable tool because it integrates with many other tools and different kinds of apps."

Cons

"The newer user interface takes a bit longer to get used to."
"Manageability needs to be improved."
"We would like some improvement in the speed of initiating this solution, as it is currently fairly slow."
"In the next release, I would for it to incorporate files more efficiently from one computer to another when we covert things and send them out. I'm not sure if it's capable of that."
"I don't know whether it is an issue or not but my boss was asking me if person one is in one room, and another person wanted to use another room at the same time, I don't know whether it is possible."
"GoToMeeting breaks down a lot. We're not sure if it's breaking down, but we start getting very erratic community channels. I don't know if it's because of GoToMeeting or if we're not buying enough bandwidth. Maybe it is just the infrastructure that it's running on. I'm not quite sure."
"The solution must include archive options to save the recorded meetings for future reference. The recording functionality can benefit our team by improving how meetings are recorded and shared. Previously, only admins could record meetings, sometimes leading to issues if recordings were missed or not shared properly. The recent update now allows hosting GoToMeeting sessions with the ability to delegate recording rights to other team members."
"The solution could always be more secure."
"I would like to get less frequent updates from the solution."
"Even though there are some issues with speed and the solution is expensive, I would still give it maximum, 10 points."
"Microsoft Teams' current features are not user-friendly, making it difficult for end-users to locate and understand them. There have also been issues with crashes, which is a concern in the current scenario."
"The solution’s pricing could be improved."
"There are a lot of creative people out there who can put some more UI capabilities in Microsoft Teams."
"We can currently only ping 15, but I'd like to see new features that allow for 20 or 25 pings; that would be good."
"There's a feature that can send a notification to Team's channel, but I think there's no way to have it escalated on something like that."
"It's not as easy to augment your meetings as it is with competitors. For example, in Zoom, if I want to add attendees, I just grab the meeting link and post it to them. With Teams, how to do this is not as clear."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a little expensive although now, with the competition from Zoom and other products, they have lowered their prices and it is better."
"GoToMeeting is a little bit expensive compared to other products."
"Negotiate for discounts."
"I rate Microsoft Teams an eight out of ten for its pricing."
"Pricing is free to a threshold and then after that you have to license per user."
"The tool comes as part of the Office 365 bundle and you don't have to pay anything extra."
"We get the solution on a corporate plan, where everything is included."
"It costs around $12 for SharePoint and Teams per user."
"I rate the tool's pricing a six out of ten. Its pricing is fixed."
"The tool's price is high and I would rate it an eight out of ten."
"It is a bit more than moderately expensive."
