Offers a seamless and secure WiFi experience with outstanding customer support
FortiWLC is valuable due to its security features and the seamless WiFi experience it provides. Our customers benefit greatly from the security aspect, especially since they are already using Fortinet for Firewall services. The security features are crucial for their requirements. The stability and ease of use of FortiWLC also add to its effectiveness.

Reliable wireless coverage has supported busy operations and has improved daily connectivity
We have areas that are interference-prone. I am not using BeamFlex technology with Ruckus Wireless. We are satisfied, but there are some problems in the current Ruckus Wireless solution that we could not solve two years ago, and we are still waiting for a solution. These are lateral management problems, and we solved them with another type of tools. However, I do not know if the new versions of the product have resolved that issue. We had approximately 150 access points at that time, so we had many points to change. We had another solution five years ago, and we changed all the access points to Ruckus Wireless solution as well as the Ruckus Wireless platform to manage all the access points.

Pros

"FortiWLC is valuable due to its security features and the seamless WiFi experience it provides."
"The security within the access point and the controller is the solution's most valuable aspect."
"It's easy to set everything up during implementation."
"I rate the overall solution a ten out of ten."
"The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiWLC is the overall high quality."
"Performance-wise, it's great."
"We used third-party integrators, not third-party systems, and since the deployment we have been using Ruckus Wireless without any problem."
"My customers use Ruckus Wireless for computing, data transfer, and internet access."
"The product does a very good job of covering specific areas using less equipment than other providers."
"In my experience, Ruckus devices are much more reliable than other vendors when it comes to consistency, coverage, and client density, and Ruckus is very simple to configure and troubleshoot."
"The most valuable feature is the signature feature from Ruckus; the feature is called the BeamFlex. BeamFlex adaptive antenna technology takes a more adaptable approach allowing the access point to continually sense and optimize for its environment. The signals can be sent in a particular predetermined direction as desired. The technology allows for electrically manipulated antenna properties creating optimal antenna patterns for each device with which they communicated: the signal is focused, where the user is positioning."
"Very reliable."
"We used to struggle a lot doing the connectivity between the branch offices in port, Ruckus offers the flexibility to pull the connectivity and we can actually manage our workflow and application to this connectivity, and it is a wonderful way of doing things fast."

Cons

"However, for massive implementations, Fortinet should consider reducing the price to make it more affordable."
"The price of Fortinet FortiWLC is high. The solution will be out of the market for us because the price is too high for the features it provides."
"One thing that is lacking is, compared with some other brands, the signal is a bit weaker. Ruckus has much wider signal coverage."
"Fortinet FortiWLC is not simple to configure when compared to other solutions. The design could be better."
"The cost could be slightly improved. It's not on the low end, and it's not in the high end. It's in that middle area, which can be a deciding factor between someone going with this solution versus another one."
"Technical support has been really bad since Ruckus was acquired by another company."
"The price is on the higher end. It's quite expensive, but that is what you get with these types of solutions."
"The current reporting is limited to 30 days, and it would be helpful if there was an option to extend it to one year."
"The initial setup is not straightforward per se. You really have to know what you're doing."
"Ruckus support is a little bit slow compared to others."
"It would be ideal if the solution offered more features."
"They could add more flexibility for switching over to another radio if a radio is poor. I am not able to change the radios from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz."
