We performed a comparison between ESET Endpoint Protection Platform and Trend Micro Smart Protection based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."he solution is an anti-malware product that integrates well with other vendor products such as firewalls, SIEM, etc. It captures threat intelligence and gives you better visibility. The product also has sandboxing features."
"The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls."
"Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration."
"I like FortiClient EMS. FortiEDR has a lot of great features like lockdown mode, remote wipes, and encryption. I can set malware outbreak policies and controls for detecting abnormalities. You can also simulate phishing attacks."
"The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other."
"The stability is very good."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"The main thing is that I feel safe. Because the processes that have been used to get a handle on the attackers are much better than other competitors"
"The solution is easy to install and configure."
"ESET Endpoint Security is stable. When comparing the solution to competitors it is more stable."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the protection itself, which works well for us."
"The most valuable feature of ESET Endpoint Security is that it is light on resources. It has a very low impact on the system. It uses low memory and the setup size is very low."
"The stability is great."
"The solution provides good accessibility and is not heavy on resources when there are updates or when it is in operation."
"The tool offers great detection. You need time only to setup the environment. After that, it is just plug-and-play to get the solution up and running. We can also control the PC remotely from the cloud and get all the information in one place."
"The solution has very useful MDM features."
"The most valuable features of the solution are ransomware protection, device control, and DLP."
"The most valuable features of Trend Micro Smart Protection are the email gateway and R & D which have contributed to their additional capability and development."
"The stability is good and I like the level of performance I can get."
"The administration through the cloud is valuable."
"It is their most comprehensive endpoint protection solution. It includes DLP and Office 365. It also includes device control and the rest of the little bells and whistles that the traditional AV vendors have."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its simplicity."
"The sandboxing is more proactive and more reliable than any of the other endpoint protection solutions."
"Trend Micro has consistently been recognized as a leader for endpoint security on Gartner, which has been our top priority. Based on my personal experience, we encountered fewer ransomware attacks for Trend Micro customers in Sri Lanka."
"The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."
"The EDR console should have more extensive reporting. You shouldn't need to purchase FortiAnalyzer. It should be included in the EDR part. The security adviser cloud platform could be improved with more options for exclusive or intensive rules for devices."
"To improve Fortinet, we need to see more features and technology areas at the endpoint level introduced."
"Making the portal mobile friendly would be helpful when I am out of office."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."
"We've had a lot of false positives; things incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow. Even worse, after we allow a legitimate program, it sometimes gets flagged again after an update. This has caused a lot of extra work for my team."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"They should focus more on the offline market as well. Everybody is connected nowadays, and they want to do everything via cloud or fast internet connections, however, that's still not possible in many situations."
"We are looking to move towards an EDR solution rather than EPP. EDR is a solution that can dynamically detect threats based on the process behavior. It would be better if this solution was an EDR and an EPP solution, this would increase security protection."
"Sometimes, ESET sends alerts within my own network that cause confusion. That is, it might warn about contamination, or that the VM has crashed, but it doesn't go further than that. It just shows me the alert and sometimes I am not sure what to do about it."
"ESET Endpoint Security could improve EDR integration."
"It's not scalable in that you cannot use a license for multiple devices."
"ESET Endpoint Antivirus could improve the mobile device experience by having more coverage."
"I'm unsure as to if they could actually support a large enterprise."
"They could be more aggressive with malware."
"Documentation-wise, they are a disaster. If you want to know something about Trend Micro, you will not find anything useful from Trend Micro themselves. You have to basically dig some blog, or you need to seek some expert to help you understand what they are offering. I have never seen such a good product with such disastrous documentation. Feature-wise, almost all vendors are providing the same features, but it is all about the integration. For example, Trend Micro is promoting their endpoint protection suite, but they never mention about the integration that they are offering with their EDR solution. They are treating each product as a separate island, and you don't know much about their integration. It would be good if they can focus on integration."
"Some functionalities within the DLP can be improved."
"The only drawback to this solution is that it needs different products for different types of clients, and it would be better to have a single agent for all of the products."
"The web filtering could be improved."
"The only notable concern is the level of support in the particular region of Sri Lanka. Following events in the past two years, the quality of technical support has regrettably declined."
"There are no data loss prevention features."
"The threat response could be a bit better."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection is a very system-intensive product, and it would be better if it could be made less burdensome on the resources."
