Automation reduces manual processes and enhances operational efficiency
Almost all the features are useful, from procurement to manufacturing, as they are interconnected and useful. The procurement process stands out particularly. We have been able to implement customizations to meet our approval processes, making it easier to get PO approvals and requests approved. Having multiple people approve before a PO is completed is streamlined, and the system is easy to customize and modify. The system has reduced many manual processes, and we have automated several processes in Epicor ERP, allowing bots to run some processes without manual intervention. The system has enhanced accuracy, especially when the base data is correct and automation can read the data properly. The accuracy is above 90%, and when errors occur, automation informs users quickly before posting items to the GL. Epicor ERP has harmonized our processes and provides significant visibility in reporting. The internal reports of Epicor ERP have been instrumental in strategic planning.

Allows customization for production and has good sales, distribution, and quality management features
Previously, we were using a very small ERP called Visual Udyog. Visual Udyog is a very cheap solution. For a startup company, it's useful. It's not an elaborate ERP, but it gives at least 25% of what IQMS gives. It can give 25% or even close to 50% of what IQMS can give and at 10% of the cost. Initially, for the first five years of the company, where it has only one million turnover or two million turnover, it is enough. Once you want to scale up, you have to go to SAP or IQMS. I also worked with SAP. I would say that IQMS and SAP go hand-in-hand.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It allowed us to organize our inventory more clearly."
"The solution is great for production planning because everything is out of the box. It smoothly handles the process from engineering to ERP, including version management and subcontracting. These features aren't in NetSuite."
"Epicor ERP is very technical friendly, if you want to do any customization, it's very easy."
"The ability to deploy through a generic implementation with proper configuration."
"In terms of manufacturing and in terms of the configuring of the product to meet a variety of different types of manufacturing requirements, the product works well."
"Epicor ERP is an easy-to-use solution."
"It has helped control operations in our Storage and Distribution Center, including processes such as Product reception, Inventory, Quality and inspection management, Shipping, General ledger, and Invoicing."
"Real-time results make for faster decision making, but not as fast as we want due to internal processes."
"This solution has all of the features you need: sales, distribution, supply chain. It has logistics and production management capabilities. It has so many modules, which were integrated using our expertise."

Cons

"Yes, we would get crashes relatively often."
"Epicor didn't care about user level and software applications. So, it's not so user-friendly for nontechnical people."
"The inventory module needs to be improved as it is not that easy to use."
"There's a new version of the solution that has some bugginess. They're cleaning that up. The user interface is an area that needs improvement and they're improving."
"A number of bugs in 9.05 were only fixed in 10."
"Epicor's system for measuring the performance of their support organization is fundamentally flawed (it does not ask the type of questions that would encourage the organization to make the type of changes that would truly elevate the organization."
"I would like to see a better reporting tool."
"The UI is quite logical, but it needs time to train users because some functions are complex to understand. As for cons, some calculation logic is difficult to grasp and requires time to test and try out. Creating dashboards or reports needs some technical IT knowledge."
"Setup is very complex."
"It was very complex, which is why it took us so long."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We bought an on-premise version of the solution. The cloud version is different. I've looked into it, but it's very competitive on the low end of the market."
"When comparing Epicor ERP to the other related products, the pricing, additional enhancements, as well as implementation, are better."
"Epicor ERP is an expensive solution."
"The initial cost may be a bit high, but the maintenance cost is lower."
"Pricing isn't a big problem for the solution - I haven't seen them lose deals because of it."
"User support could be improved as well, as the consultant charges are very high."
"We paid about 20% with the purchase order. Six months later, we paid another 20%, and then another 20% after another six months. We paid the remaining 40% after 18 months."
