Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Stability has been very nice, and Dynatrace runs on the Linux system.""The Session Replay not only allows us to watch the user in 4K video, but to see the individual steps happening behind the scenes, from a developer perspective. It gives us every single step that a user takes in a session, along with the ability to watch it as a video playback. We can see each call to every server as the user goes through the site. If something is broken or not running optimally, it's going to come up in the Session Replay.""I like the full-stack agents, the Oneagents, and the futures dynamic.""The dashboard allows us to monitor and proactively act upon any breaches in the threshold for our infrastructure.""The ability to use PurePath in analytics is definitely the most valuable feature. It helps you pinpoint issues, then develop and focus them in the right way.""Helps us in understanding what elements on the page contribute to load time and the primary areas to focus on for improvement."".NET core and Spring code level analysis helps with root cause analysis.""They have quick answers for scalability."

"The solution Lightstep/ServiceNow has a couple of pretty advanced functionalities to help us investigate a deviation and help the development teams have better observability in the environment using distributed and complex services.""The ability to create a stream based on different parameters, operation name, service name, URL, tags, and URI part, is one valuable feature.""The UI is very intuitive."

Cons
"Our main problems have been that it has a high learning curve to it. I've used it for about three years now and I'm still learning it. There are some videos and there is some documentation out there, but it still requires you to delve into the tool to learn it. A little bit more comprehensive self-paced training would help.""The real complexity that I've seen with Dynatrace is to learn how to navigate through all the options in the troubleshooting process. We have a lot of ways to evaluate the same problem. We had some difficulties in the beginning with the use of the product, but after some time and some experience we have overcome this problem.""Product reporting still needs improvement.""Regarding features, it would be good if there would be some features regarding app security.""The integration of the tools is getting there. It is still not there yet, because we still have to get a lot of tools to put together.""Under heavyweight, Dynatrace becomes slower when listing PurePaths.""I would like to know if classes and methods selected in "Method Sensor Rules" were changed in the applications, and not depend on the developers to warn us.""Make it easier to define applications. E.g., provide an API for applications defined by REST services."

"The design of this solution is not very intuitive and probably could come with more friendly tips for beginners.""The dashboard and graphics must be improved.""The support team could be better. Because of the different versions of different tactics of integrating reactive code base, the documentation is not very clear if someone has to be onboard. I would rate the documentation of Lightstep a five out of ten. It could need improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is based on the number of servers monitored, so for big applications, it is a bit expensive."
  • "Licensing is a bit complicated for Dynatrace, and pricing is dependent on how much your organization invests."
  • "We found an issue within the first week of ownership that has been costing us more than the entire license cost."
  • "Product pricing can seem a little over complex, however this is minor and does not detract from the benefits of the solution."
  • "Getting the first agents installed, getting information, and coverage in a initial set of systems can be done in hours and with a low cost entry point."
  • "Price (of the product) is a major concern for all the clients I work with."
  • "The licensing model is confusing in solutioning clients for the number of hosts needed to deploy."
  • "The product is superior to others, but it comes with a price tag that is often difficult to position back to clients."
