We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I like FortiClient EMS. FortiEDR has a lot of great features like lockdown mode, remote wipes, and encryption. I can set malware outbreak policies and controls for detecting abnormalities. You can also simulate phishing attacks.""It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain.""Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance.""The product's initial setup phase is very easy.""The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers.""We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats.""It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward.""The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls."

"The most valuable feature is the ability to respond to zero-day and unknown threats.""It's pretty unintrusive""It automatically blocks the threats, helping us investigate if they harm the environment.""The solution has a high level of trust in the industry.""It is a bit early in our evaluation process to give proper feedback, although so far, the overall feedback is good.""The initial setup was fairly straightforward. To get a large health care organization sorted, we had to create exemptions because some of the scripts and some of the automations were broken.""CylanceOPTICS is pretty stable.""I would rate the stability a nine out of ten. I would give it a close ten as possible because, like SentinelOne, I've seen incompatibility. Whereas Cylance, I've seen none."

More CylanceOPTICS Pros →

"The solution is stable.""It has intelligent learning behind it and we have been very successful in preventing attacks.""The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is one of the best EDR tools in the market.""The solution is very useful and easy to handle. You don't need much intervention with this product.""I like the historical features, interface, and integration.""It actually does some heuristics, and some behavioral analysis.""The solution has a very nice API on the back end for remoting into a system and executing scripts or utilizing self automation.""It gives you all of the information in a short and sweet fashion."

Cons
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things.""Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation.""The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs.""I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers.""It takes about two business days for initial support, which is too slow in urgent situations.""I haven't seen the use of AI in the solution.""We find the solution to be a bit expensive.""FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"The technical support could be improved although it's probably better than you get with a lot of the other traditional antivirus solutions""One minor issue that somebody mentioned was that they didn't like their management console.""Our customers would like to see more automation with respect to how threats are handled once they have been detected.""The product's initial setup process could be easy.""The product's technical support is slow.""CylanceOPTICS could benefit from more granular control in the timeline-building process. Ideally, users would be able to drill deeper into the analysis rather than have the machine dictate the direction.""The tools are ineffective. It flags a lot of things. To give you an example, it detected Google Chrome and blocked the user's access to it. That it mistook for malicious, which turned out to be a false positive.""The detection component is something that they have to work on."

More CylanceOPTICS Cons →

"What was rolled out to my company are mixed versions of Carbon Black CB Defense, so what I'd like to see in the next release is more synchronization, where it can detect the endpoint that's running an old version and suggest updates.""In our company, we also wanted to have network detection, like a host-based IDS on VMware Carbon Black Endpoint, but we did not get it.""The application control can be improved. It should also have an automatic update of the agents.""CB Defense could be more compatible with Linux, and its cloud provision could be improved.""The solution would be more effective if there was a way to block automatically based on behavior.""I would like to see improvements made so that we can better see all of the processes.""The product's stability could be improved.""I haven't run into anything that needs improvement. The website interface can be a little bit better, but it's still good as compared to most others."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I know it is tough to get big budget additions up front, but I highly recommend deploying environment wide and adding the forensic service."
  • "There are no issues with the pricing."
  • "The price is comprable to other endpoint security solutions."
  • "The pricing is typical for enterprises and fairly priced."
  • "I'm not familiar with pricing, but it looks a bit costly compared to other vendors I think."
  • "The pricing is good."
  • "I would rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
  • "The hardware costs about €100,000 and about €20,000 annually for access."
  • More Fortinet FortiEDR Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We pay for the number of endpoints we have and that is about it. On a monthly basis, the licensing cost is $55 per user."
  • "I would rate the pricing a three out of five."
  • "The pricing for CylanceOPTICS is very good; I would rate it around a nine on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the lowest. It's one of the most affordable options I've seen."
  • More CylanceOPTICS Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The cost/benefit factor has great relevance in Cb Defense implementations."
  • "The cost is a considerable factor, but the benefit factor is the most important. When you compare it with other products, the price is high. Carbon Black will negotiate the price."
  • "I am not really involved in the pricing of this product. But, from my understanding, it is OK for us."
  • "Carbon Black might be a touch more expensive than Symantec. They tend to get a premium for their capabilities. They're sort of an industry leader in a lot of areas with the functionality that they provide."
  • "We have branches, we have different companies, but we cannot buy less than 100 licenses. This does not make sense to me... It should be more flexible. I can understand their saying, "Okay, to be a customer you need 100," but to add on to that number it should be something very straightforward. If I need to add five, for example, I shouldn't need to add 100."
  • "The pricing [is] more or less the same as other similar solutions."
  • "It's reasonable in price"
  • "The price for the solution is completely at government level, meaning one which is very high."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.
