Data governance has transformed business glossaries and now drives AI-ready insights
I think it's a great platform. Searching can be made a little better. The data marketplace which it provides is also great, but sometimes when we are searching an element and we know we are not sure if we can find it or if we have missed it. Listing data domains in one place for quick visibility will be an add-on. I am not a hardcore coder. For a coder to create workflows and automate the process, I needed to learn Groovy script and create some workflows. In the automation part, I think it can also introduce a low-code, no-code platform where we can connect different connectors and we can quickly create some automated workflows, if at basic level only, because the next big thing is automation and AI. Low-code, no-code platforms are being used by everyone. I think that will be useful. When I look for a data domain, I'm not able to find it very quickly. For a business owner to know data domains and search data domains, it could be made a little easier. Also, the automation part needs improvement. We are only able to enter the data manually or connect to a data source, but now we want to create some workflows as well. That's why I've chosen a rating of eight. Otherwise, it's really great.

Helpful support that is easy to speak with, reliable with no problems of instances of unavailability
There are three main areas that need to be improved. * The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved. The data should be more unified and cleaner. * Regulatory compliance needs to be achieved. * The governance itself needs improvement. It should be organized and linked to the data catalog and the business glossary, which would give a full view of the customer data. We would like to have the application available in Portuguese and Spanish. This is something that we have spoken with the vendor about.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best features of Collibra Lineage include its ability to map data flows and provide clear visualizations."
"The solution has very good online assistance."
"Collibra Catalog is simple to use and user-friendly for those who are not technically inclined since it is easy to find while also easy to see data lineage diagrams."
"I like the lineage feature the most because I don't think there's any other tool that actually depicts the data flow from multiple sources and the connectivities between every data element inside those sources."
"Collibra are very good at helping organizations get a handle on controlling data and the knowledge around where the data is, its type, etc."
"In terms of data governance, as I mentioned, it can be a one-stop solution for all of your data governance needs."
"We achieved 30% of time saved, and the platform is easy to use."
"The solution's most valuable features are its scalability and how it can be integrated to any other intakes."
"It is an integrated solution that provides end-to-end capabilities for managing the data. It is very useful for cleaning the data. It also allows us to combine data from on-premises and cloud sources. On this unified data, we can perform some advanced analytics to predict customer behavior and create new products. Its management and governance capabilities are valuable. It provides full tracking of the data flow. It provides customers the full control over the data and the ability to protect the data. It enables us to provide the best service to the customers. We also get great support from Infogix."
"This is one of the best technical support groups that I have dealt with, as Infogix support stands out in terms of quality and response time, and it is really easy to speak with them by phone or by email."

Cons

"The solution's data lineage is a little difficult and will not support all the source systems on the database."
"There's a lot of things available in their Data Intelligence Cloud that are not available on-premise."
"The issue may be the way it's been implemented in my company but, for Collibra to be really useful, what's missing is an easy way to connect to different data sources and different types of data sources and actually ingest and profile some of that data."
"The UI is good if you happen to be an administrator and are familiar with the technical side of the administration. If you're a business user, the UI is not good. It is hard to learn. It is hard for those who are administering it to teach to end-users and it can take hours of training to do it. Because it is difficult and non-intuitive, business users resist using it. It is a battle to get them on board and to keep them engaged because of the UI."
"The price of Collibra Governance could improve."
"Collibra doesn't provide support for integration for SAP Info Steward directly with Collibra."
"In Collibra Catalog, the main area that has room for improvement is the search functionality. It should be more natural language oriented instead of searching for exact names."
"I chose a nine out of ten because it is not fully integrated with other platforms at the moment."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language. In our region, people are not fluent in English. It would be nice to have this solution in Portuguese and Spanish. Its workflows are great, but it would be useful to have business flow at a high level because we need to work together with business users. We need more capabilities for business users to understand something in terms of data."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language like Portuguese and Spanish."
"The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We purchase its annual license. There is an extra cost for additional users."
"Collibra is a bit expensive."
"Generally, it is a rather expensive solution compared to some other tools in the market, but I found it to be fair-priced for its capabilities."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"I think they have a trust issue. I did not like the way they recently went through the process. They were like, "Finish this SOW first, only then will we sign the other SOW." Or, "Finish this code." I didn't like that much."
"The solution's pricing is moderate and not very expensive."
"There are different levels of licenses. For example, some users can only do read-only licenses, and others have the stewardship license where they can give access to users."
"It is substantial, and we do pay yearly."
"Its price is much lower than Informatica. Its licensing is very easy to understand. It is not too complex. There is no maintenance fee. The support is included with the license. Its licensing is subscription-based, which makes it easy to define the budget and other things. It also makes it easier to plan and understand how to use the solution. It uses the pay-as-you-use model, so you can start small and expand the solution and pay as per your usage."
