Unified data governance has reduced manual effort and accelerates trusted AI model oversight
Improvement with respect to adding more connectors is one thing I feel which needs to be looked at. Right now, Collibra Platform provides many connectors and native connections, out-of-the-box connectors, but the technology landscape is overgrowing, and several new enterprise tools are coming in the market. The number of connectors can be increased. Secondly, to use Collibra Platform APIs, you need to always have a JSON Web Token or admin access, so that process can be improvised. Third, Collibra Platform can try and test how to make the work faster with more and more agents. Capturing the lineage becomes a little cumbersome in Collibra Platform when the technology landscape is a combination of multiple tools, so that is one thing which can be simplified. I have already added the integration with other tools, so that is one area which needs to be improvised and there is scope for improvement. Another thing is bringing in more agents to agentify things and making work faster.

Helpful support that is easy to speak with, reliable with no problems of instances of unavailability
There are three main areas that need to be improved. * The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved. The data should be more unified and cleaner. * Regulatory compliance needs to be achieved. * The governance itself needs improvement. It should be organized and linked to the data catalog and the business glossary, which would give a full view of the customer data. We would like to have the application available in Portuguese and Spanish. This is something that we have spoken with the vendor about.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Collibra are very good at helping organizations get a handle on controlling data and the knowledge around where the data is, its type, etc."
"Collibra Catalog allows us to automate metadata management, significantly saving time, effort, and finances."
"The solution allowed us to quickly and efficiently implement our data governance operating model, including accountabilities, regulatory lineage, and data dictionaries. This was much faster and more efficient than manual methods or other tools like Informatica. I prefer Collibra Lineage for its self-service capabilities."
"It is user-friendly."
"They've really helped us do things easier, faster, and better."
"The ability to collaborate and approve business terms for the business glossary data dictionary is excellent."
"The integration with other Collibra Lineage products is valuable in our data governance initiatives."
"The product's most valuable features are cataloging and classification."
"It is an integrated solution that provides end-to-end capabilities for managing the data, provides customers full control over the data and the ability to protect the data, and enables us to provide the best service to the customers."
"This is one of the best technical support groups that I have dealt with, as Infogix support stands out in terms of quality and response time, and it is really easy to speak with them by phone or by email."
"Infogix support stands out in terms of quality and response time, and it is really easy to speak with them by phone or by email."
"It is an integrated solution that provides end-to-end capabilities for managing the data. It is very useful for cleaning the data. It also allows us to combine data from on-premises and cloud sources. On this unified data, we can perform some advanced analytics to predict customer behavior and create new products. Its management and governance capabilities are valuable. It provides full tracking of the data flow. It provides customers the full control over the data and the ability to protect the data. It enables us to provide the best service to the customers. We also get great support from Infogix."

Cons

"Since we do have a lot of older legacy systems, things that aren't greenfield, if you will, it adds a lot more overhead than what we were originally led to believe when we originally purchased the product."
"A key area for improvement in Collibra Catalog lies in its integration capabilities, particularly with a broader range of sources."
"There are three environments - stage, development and production. Often things work well in the first two stages and then when you get to production, they don't work."
"If a developer implements ETL in Glue or PySpark, Collibra cannot capture lineage out of that."
"The connectors are not very sophisticated. They can do, for example, Informatica and Tableau, but the connectors themselves could be improved."
"Collibra doesn't provide support for integration for SAP Info Steward directly with Collibra."
"What I use it for is fairly rudimentary, and I don't have any complaints about it. I haven't tried to stretch the boundaries at all, but it would be nice if there were capabilities built within the system to somehow help enforce the quality and consistency across related elements that are built in the catalog. It could have intelligent capabilities built in to help maintain the quality of the data and information, such as natural language processing, machine learning, and so on."
"The product must be cheaper."
"The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved."
"The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language like Portuguese and Spanish."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language. In our region, people are not fluent in English. It would be nice to have this solution in Portuguese and Spanish. Its workflows are great, but it would be useful to have business flow at a high level because we need to work together with business users. We need more capabilities for business users to understand something in terms of data."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We purchase its annual license. There is an extra cost for additional users."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"I am not so much aware of price details. Initially, there was an add-on NuSoft license to use the DVC connector that NuSoft gives to create integrations, but Collibra is now phasing out of it slowly. Collibra is cutting ties with them is what we have been led to believe, and we have started developing on Spring Boot, which is open source."
"Many of our customers I spoke to felt that the solution is a bit highly-priced."
"I think they can bring a few more features and align better with other quality products."
"The product's pricing is high, which its comprehensive features and capabilities may justify."
"It's expensive, especially for small companies."
"Its price is much lower than Informatica. Its licensing is very easy to understand. It is not too complex. There is no maintenance fee. The support is included with the license. Its licensing is subscription-based, which makes it easy to define the budget and other things. It also makes it easier to plan and understand how to use the solution. It uses the pay-as-you-use model, so you can start small and expand the solution and pay as per your usage."
