Data governance has transformed business glossaries and now drives AI-ready insights
I think it's a great platform. Searching can be made a little better. The data marketplace which it provides is also great, but sometimes when we are searching an element and we know we are not sure if we can find it or if we have missed it. Listing data domains in one place for quick visibility will be an add-on. I am not a hardcore coder. For a coder to create workflows and automate the process, I needed to learn Groovy script and create some workflows. In the automation part, I think it can also introduce a low-code, no-code platform where we can connect different connectors and we can quickly create some automated workflows, if at basic level only, because the next big thing is automation and AI. Low-code, no-code platforms are being used by everyone. I think that will be useful. When I look for a data domain, I'm not able to find it very quickly. For a business owner to know data domains and search data domains, it could be made a little easier. Also, the automation part needs improvement. We are only able to enter the data manually or connect to a data source, but now we want to create some workflows as well. That's why I've chosen a rating of eight. Otherwise, it's really great.

Helpful support that is easy to speak with, reliable with no problems of instances of unavailability
There are three main areas that need to be improved. * The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved. The data should be more unified and cleaner. * Regulatory compliance needs to be achieved. * The governance itself needs improvement. It should be organized and linked to the data catalog and the business glossary, which would give a full view of the customer data. We would like to have the application available in Portuguese and Spanish. This is something that we have spoken with the vendor about.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Gartner identifies Collibra Catalog as the leader, which aligns with our observations."
"The solution's most valuable feature is data cataloging."
"We have had no complaints about the stability."
"Collibra Platform helps us achieve faster decision-making, improve data trust and accuracy, and reduce conflicting reports."
"The most valuable feature is the discovery process for the data catalog because we get it in a visual format as a way to understand and classify it."
"Collibra provides a good view of where my data is, the type of data we have across the landscape, how it's getting utilized, the quality in terms of correct calibration, and whether the integrity is uniform across the landscape."
"Collibra Platform provides a great user experience for the first time someone is entering Collibra Platform, as they have a few things that are already packaged for you, so you don't have to start from scratch."
"The data lineage capability is valuable as it shows how different sources are connected and how data flows, which is crucial for projects like migrations. Moreover, data lineage visualization in Collibra Catalog aids our data governance initiatives."
"It is an integrated solution that provides end-to-end capabilities for managing the data. It is very useful for cleaning the data. It also allows us to combine data from on-premises and cloud sources. On this unified data, we can perform some advanced analytics to predict customer behavior and create new products. Its management and governance capabilities are valuable. It provides full tracking of the data flow. It provides customers the full control over the data and the ability to protect the data. It enables us to provide the best service to the customers. We also get great support from Infogix."
"This is one of the best technical support groups that I have dealt with, as Infogix support stands out in terms of quality and response time, and it is really easy to speak with them by phone or by email."

Cons

"Collibra Platform can be improved in simpler relationship management because some people feel Collibra Platform is complex for non-business users."
"Collibra gives a lot of facilities in the cloud, but achieving those facilities on-prem becomes a big challenge"
"It would be better if features like the privacy module and AI-based Collibra DQ were included in one package instead of being separate and requiring additional costs. Currently, the basic package covers lineage and documentation, but the extra modules come at an extra cost."
"It should have more integrations with things like CyberArk because its main purpose is GDPR implementation. We have to have more scope for things that implement more privacy. CyberArk makes sure your credentials are vaulted and your things are secure when you're creating your integrations or connecting to an application. I do believe that they are working on this feature."
"We had issues during setup."
"There are certain limitations and difficulties regarding the migration of complex data quality rules, as the tool may struggle with lengthy calculations and longer loading times."
"In terms of improvements, I would highlight a few points that could be enhanced in the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform."
"If a developer implements ETL in Glue or PySpark, Collibra cannot capture lineage out of that."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language. In our region, people are not fluent in English. It would be nice to have this solution in Portuguese and Spanish. Its workflows are great, but it would be useful to have business flow at a high level because we need to work together with business users. We need more capabilities for business users to understand something in terms of data."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language like Portuguese and Spanish."
"The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think they have a trust issue. I did not like the way they recently went through the process. They were like, "Finish this SOW first, only then will we sign the other SOW." Or, "Finish this code." I didn't like that much."
"I am not so much aware of price details. Initially, there was an add-on NuSoft license to use the DVC connector that NuSoft gives to create integrations, but Collibra is now phasing out of it slowly. Collibra is cutting ties with them is what we have been led to believe, and we have started developing on Spring Boot, which is open source."
"Many of our customers I spoke to felt that the solution is a bit highly-priced."
"Collibra Catalog is fairly priced - I would rate their pricing seven out of ten."
"I rate the pricing a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap."
"It's expensive, especially for small companies."
"There are different levels of licenses. For example, some users can only do read-only licenses, and others have the stewardship license where they can give access to users."
"There are different licenses available for Collibra Lineage based on what kind of access you want. If you want, for example, a read-only license they have different ones to pick from."
"Its price is much lower than Informatica. Its licensing is very easy to understand. It is not too complex. There is no maintenance fee. The support is included with the license. Its licensing is subscription-based, which makes it easy to define the budget and other things. It also makes it easier to plan and understand how to use the solution. It uses the pay-as-you-use model, so you can start small and expand the solution and pay as per your usage."
