Unified data governance has reduced manual effort and accelerates trusted AI model oversight
Improvement with respect to adding more connectors is one thing I feel which needs to be looked at. Right now, Collibra Platform provides many connectors and native connections, out-of-the-box connectors, but the technology landscape is overgrowing, and several new enterprise tools are coming in the market. The number of connectors can be increased. Secondly, to use Collibra Platform APIs, you need to always have a JSON Web Token or admin access, so that process can be improvised. Third, Collibra Platform can try and test how to make the work faster with more and more agents. Capturing the lineage becomes a little cumbersome in Collibra Platform when the technology landscape is a combination of multiple tools, so that is one thing which can be simplified. I have already added the integration with other tools, so that is one area which needs to be improvised and there is scope for improvement. Another thing is bringing in more agents to agentify things and making work faster.

Helpful support that is easy to speak with, reliable with no problems of instances of unavailability
There are three main areas that need to be improved. * The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved. The data should be more unified and cleaner. * Regulatory compliance needs to be achieved. * The governance itself needs improvement. It should be organized and linked to the data catalog and the business glossary, which would give a full view of the customer data. We would like to have the application available in Portuguese and Spanish. This is something that we have spoken with the vendor about.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best features of Collibra Lineage include its ability to map data flows and provide clear visualizations."
"The feature I like most in Collibra Governance is the lineage. It lets me do lineage that you can set up, for example, technical lineage and business lineage. The solution lets me associate the right people with the right assets, so anybody who has to look at end-to-end instances can use Collibra Governance and figure it out, in terms of who to contact, what to do, and where to find what you need."
"Essentially, it has provided us with more trust and transparency — this is the real benefit that we've got out of Collibra."
"As far as the functionality of the tool is concerned, it's pretty slick."
"I would say customization is the most valuable, the workflow is very good and has been embedded, and it also has a great user interface."
"Collibra Platform has achieved improved data discoverability and governance standardization with reduced manual efforts and better compliance visibility."
"If you try to utilize it, the data lineage is number one, because there's awesome capability in it."
"While Collibra is hands-down the best data governance collaboration platform, clients should review the different options to ingest metadata based on the targeted source systems."
"This is one of the best technical support groups that I have dealt with, as Infogix support stands out in terms of quality and response time, and it is really easy to speak with them by phone or by email."
"It is an integrated solution that provides end-to-end capabilities for managing the data. It is very useful for cleaning the data. It also allows us to combine data from on-premises and cloud sources. On this unified data, we can perform some advanced analytics to predict customer behavior and create new products. Its management and governance capabilities are valuable. It provides full tracking of the data flow. It provides customers the full control over the data and the ability to protect the data. It enables us to provide the best service to the customers. We also get great support from Infogix."

Cons

"A key area for improvement in Collibra Catalog lies in its integration capabilities, particularly with a broader range of sources."
"We are not able to ingest all the data in Collibra, and that's why we cannot do element-to-element level data tracking."
"What I use it for is fairly rudimentary, and I don't have any complaints about it. I haven't tried to stretch the boundaries at all, but it would be nice if there were capabilities built within the system to somehow help enforce the quality and consistency across related elements that are built in the catalog. It could have intelligent capabilities built in to help maintain the quality of the data and information, such as natural language processing, machine learning, and so on."
"Collibra Catalog could improve its automation to increase the efficiency of the software."
"More automation and artificial intelligence involvement are necessary. Reducing required employee involvement and enhancing ease of use are vital."
"The technical support is very poor."
"From a usability perspective, customers usually find some areas of the solution a bit complex. It takes a long time for the customers to get used to the UI and the interface."
"No easy way to connect to different data sources."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language like Portuguese and Spanish."
"The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language. In our region, people are not fluent in English. It would be nice to have this solution in Portuguese and Spanish. Its workflows are great, but it would be useful to have business flow at a high level because we need to work together with business users. We need more capabilities for business users to understand something in terms of data."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Generally, it is a rather expensive solution compared to some other tools in the market, but I found it to be fair-priced for its capabilities."
"Collibra is a bit expensive."
"There are different levels of licenses. For example, some users can only do read-only licenses, and others have the stewardship license where they can give access to users."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"I think they have a trust issue. I did not like the way they recently went through the process. They were like, "Finish this SOW first, only then will we sign the other SOW." Or, "Finish this code." I didn't like that much."
"There are different licenses available for Collibra Lineage based on what kind of access you want. If you want, for example, a read-only license they have different ones to pick from."
"Collibra Governance is extremely expensive"
"Collibra Catalog is fairly priced - I would rate their pricing seven out of ten."
"Its price is much lower than Informatica. Its licensing is very easy to understand. It is not too complex. There is no maintenance fee. The support is included with the license. Its licensing is subscription-based, which makes it easy to define the budget and other things. It also makes it easier to plan and understand how to use the solution. It uses the pay-as-you-use model, so you can start small and expand the solution and pay as per your usage."
