We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"From a usability and functionality perspective, Cisco UCS Manager is very good.""Cisco Infrastructure is one of the top vendors and no one can beat them in terms of switching and routing.""It is more robust than other solutions. So, the stability is good.""The most valuable features are flexibility and management.""The solution is highly scalable, mainly because of the templates that make it easy for you to actually edit on the system.""The reporting functionality will give you any report you want.""I can deploy something in my 50-odd servers all in one go, in parallel, whereas if I was to do that individually, it could be a nightmare.""We can configure the Cisco UCS Manager, the profiles and interactions with the resource we manage."

"Setup was straightforward. Initial deployment took two or three months.""We value the auto-host discovery, template import, bulk import/export features. Newer versions also add nice features, such as multi-IP per host.""Zabbix is quite stable once it is set up. We haven't had any post-setup issues.""I'm supervising all the IT departments, and Zabbix seems quite good for them. It provides graphics and information in real time. We get alerts about crashes on the system, enabling us to quickly repair issues. We can easily find devices with problems.""Zabbix has a roadmap and they are continuously and frequently adding new features.""The best thing about Zabbix is the integration and the APIs that are included are very fast""The initial setup was very quick. The first time it was long because I didn't know it yet. I was only using Windows. The first time was very difficult because of the operating system.""The most valuable feature is the protocol to manage anything."

Cons
"Cisco UCS Manager is not a scalable solution because once you have 160 blades, it cannot be expanded more.""Getting a CLI report on routers, switches, or any other CLI configuration device is difficult.""The integration with other solutions could be better. I think Cisco can only integrate using Intersight. There is a second interface available as a SaaS platform, in the cloud, or on-premise. It's based on the Redfish protocol, which is standard for all the B-series servers in the market. We can integrate other solutions using API.""The solution's pricing is high and could be reduced.""What's lacking in Cisco UCS Manager is the performance dashboard. If a blade has any performance issues, you should be able to create a dashboard on Cisco UCS Manager. Currently, this feature isn't present.""The pricing can be better.""We have three data centers and if we could manage all three data centers using one interface, it would be great.""I would like to see Cisco UCS optionally work as a hyper-converged system because right now, it only operates as a converged system."

More Cisco UCS Manager Cons →

"There is a bit of a learning curve during installation.""In terms of user-friendliness, large maps could be more interactive. We should be able to click on some areas and move some objects. It would make it simpler to see things while analyzing some dedicated parameters.""The graphical user interface could be customized a little bit more, and also the dashboard could be more friendly.""I would like to see a more flexible mobile client, and better HA out of the box.""There are areas of improvement. The database grows really fast. So, when you install Zabbix, you have to deal with some issues, like the database. We become pretty big very fast.""There are some features of Zabbix that are not good for reporting. The DX Spectrum solution has better reporting.""When using this solution in enterprise monitoring, you are able to see that there are some issues with equipment that could be causing a problem. Sometimes you want to make a root command that you do not want to be executed automatically. What we have tried to do is open an SSH session directly from the solution's interface but it is not possible.""It would be helpful if they translated the documentation to Cyrillic languages."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
