Backup and recovery options integrate smoothly while affordability remains a challenge
My relationship with Veeam is that I am a reseller and system integrator. The support for both cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure from Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 impacts my data protection strategy because that's the reason we are using Veeam. Veeam is a platform that supports both on-prem and cloud. It's a single pane of glass that we can support both, which is one of the good reasons we are using Veeam. The key benefits my organization has experienced with Veeam's integration of SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, and Teams within its data protection framework are that single licensing is one of the things customers prefer to use because it's very easy for them to manage. I would rate Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 overall an eight on a scale from 1 to 10.

Comprehensive data protection supports diverse IT environments
Vinchin Backup & Recovery supports most mainstream private cloud platforms, including VMware, Nutanix, and Microsoft Hyper-V, as well as many Chinese-based products. It supports cross-platform backup and recovery, allowing customers to back up from one platform and recover to another. The user interface is very user-friendly, making it easy for customers to understand and use. In addition to virtual machine backups, the platform supports physical server backups, file backups, and database backups. This comprehensive support allows customers to back up most IT resources, including the public cloud, within one platform.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is the backups, we do not want to lose any files. Each one of the files is updated on a regular long-term basis and kept together in the Microsoft cloud-only."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is its performance. Additionally, the user interface and documentation are easy to use and navigate."
"The support offered by both Veeam and our third party supplier is excellent."

Cons

"We have found that there is a limitation in this solution where it only takes the backup of users who are using Office 365 Enterprise email IDs. We have many users in management and approximately 50 other users who are using Office 365 of which Veeam is able to capture the backup. However, for the other users who are on the local email server at that time, the solution is not able to capture the backup."
"The pricing model is unnecessarily confusing and could be simplified."
"In some instances, a customer is not necessarily backing up Microsoft 365. For instance, they might be backing up a large Oracle database. It would be nice if they could tweak it to compress the file, so it's easier to transfer a huge file."
"You can't really edit. For example, if you have created a backup for a user, you can't drill down on a granular level during the backup. You have to back up the mailbox completely. That's it. It would be helpful if you could at least go inside the mailboxes to choose what you want."
"It needs to be able to integrate with other emailing systems, like Linux."
"The solution should provide more integration with Teams and SharePoint Online to perform other tasks."
"One major drawback is that Veeam doesn't support migrating data once it's stored in object storage like S3."
"The solution should have backup integration features, not just concerning mail but also when it comes to such solutions as SharePoint."
"The deduplication and compression ratio could be improved to save more space for customers."
"The deduplication and compression ratio could be improved to save more space for customers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have 2000 users and pay about $10,000. It may be a little bit more per year. We have an education institute and may have fewer expenses."
"This is not a stand-alone product and requires a standard Veeam license for your organization in addition to the cost of the solution."
"I'm not sure about the price, but I think it could be lower."
"The price of Veeam Backup for Office 365 is inexpensive. We have a license to use the solution."
"Its cost is pretty high. I would rate it a three out of five in terms of pricing."
"The solution is not expensive."
"There is an annual license required and a per-user fee for this solution."
"For the number of users and amount of storage you receive, it is not expensive."
