Network automation has reduced troubleshooting time and supports faster issue resolution
The biggest and best feature I have experienced with Auvik Network Management (ANM) is automatic network discovery, along with features such as topology map, instant alerts, real-time monitoring, easy remote access, and simple dashboards. Among those features, I find automatic network discovery to be the most useful because it gives a clear picture of the entire network without having to create manual diagrams. It is very easy to use Auvik Network Management (ANM), so even a new team member can quickly understand the network because everything is displayed in a very clear way. Auvik Network Management (ANM) has positively impacted our organization by reducing troubleshooting time, improving network visibility, providing a very clear picture, and helping us support multiple client networks and environments very efficiently. We have noticed a 35 to 40% improvement in troubleshooting speed, less manual work in documenting any network system, faster responses to network issues, and better uptime with the client networks.

Offers proactive issue detection through customized alerts enhances troubleshooting
We saw the benefits of BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance immediately after we deployed it. The enhanced analytics dashboard helps us prioritize troubleshooting. BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance detects potential issues and anomalies before they occur, provided we have set our thresholds. Without defined thresholds, the system may still identify problems, but we will only be alerted after the event. This proactive approach helps prevent issues rather than simply reacting to them. It provides diagnostic information to help with remediation. BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance significantly enhances our company's network stability by preventing outages. With over a hundred firewalls integrated into the system, it provides comprehensive monitoring and control, effectively minimizing potential downtime. BlueCat's solution has been instrumental in maintaining a highly reliable network environment, and its value in preventing disruptions is immeasurable.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One of the benefits is the insights into the network."
"Auvik has saved a lot of time, as network monitoring and analysis tasks that would sometimes take a few days to accomplish can be completed in only 15 to 30 minutes."
"The monitoring and management functions of Auvik are as easy as they can be for the functions they do. It's definitely the easiest product I've ever used."
"Within the last year, we made it a requirement for all of our clients to pay for an Auvik license."
"In the past, I would manually input the credentials and IP address of a single device from my machine and access the device, which took a lot of time. A task that previously took 40-45 minutes can be completed in less than five minutes with Auvik. It reduces the time needed to check a device for a single company, so we can act quickly before a disaster happens."
"The traffic insights feature shows us our network bandwidth usage without the need for expensive inline traffic decryption. It's very important to us. Knowing exactly what's going on, what traffic is flowing over my network is very much an important thing for me to know. We know that policies and procedures are being followed. And so we know that nobody is doing anything that they shouldn't be doing on a company network."
"I would choose Auvik Network Management (ANM) without hesitation."
"Auvik's email alerts are convenient because we're always monitoring email, and it's easier to receive the alerts in your inbox."
"The most valuable aspects of BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance are remote commands, a core functionality for us, and automated remediation options."
"BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance provides excellent analytic capabilities for early problem detection, offering beneficial diagnostic information and actionable remediation steps."
"BlueCat's solution has been instrumental in maintaining a highly reliable network environment, and its value in preventing disruptions is immeasurable."
"BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance's most valuable feature is its ability to analyze integrity and perform interrogations, providing alerts based on configurable thresholds."
"Thanks to BlueCat, we have not experienced any downtime in the past two years."

Cons

"If I could make a wish list of things that I would like to see from Auvik, I would definitely love to see more vendor integration with specific manufacturers. They've got that integration with Cisco, but it would be awesome to also have that with other major brands, such as HP, Dell, and Lenovo. It should have integration with more vendors, and in general, being able to quickly and easily access vendor-specific tools from the portal would be amazing."
"It is not backing up my configurations on much of my network equipment. For some reason, it struggles with Ubiquiti equipment, and it is a known issue. They have a ticket open for it. Some of it could be because of the way Ubiquiti handles authentication."
"I requested that Auvik implement an alarm system to notify me immediately of any disruptions or anomalies."
"I would like Auvik to alert on IP conflicts."
"Their system is a little difficult because it shows a lot of LANs and it's a little difficult to find each device. In our system, we have over 20 devices showing and it really takes a long time when I want to find a particular device. If it's easier to use, it will improve work efficiency."
"When I change IP addresses on a device or on a server, I have to wait for Auvik to figure out that change. It will tell me the device is offline until Auvik scans the whole subnet again and finds it. If I change 25 devices, I'll get 50 emails in a short time because they've gone offline."
"Auvik mostly supports large vendors such as the Cisco Aruba networks, Meraki, and Extreme Networks."
"They can implement a more collective network mapping to help reduce any congestive features. When it came down to many of the companies we worked with, their networks were already pre-structured, so we didn't have as much congestion. Given the fact that I could see how that would be an issue, maybe there would be a better way they could collapse or compile the network mapping issues."
"Considering that some of our junior engineers have limited coding expertise, incorporating features that assist in query construction or provide clear textual translations of code would be valuable."
"BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance does not support all network security devices."
"We would greatly benefit from expanded BlueCat integrations, particularly through a robust API ingestion system that allows for custom integrations with other systems. Ideally, this would include a user-friendly message queue system that facilitates communication between BlueCat and any external system via APIs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Auvik's pricing is fair overall, but some advanced stuff is a little expensive. I like that the licensing model is based on switches instead of endpoints. We don't use some of the more advanced features because they're a little beyond our price range. We're using the tool internally, but the expense is passed on to the customer, and the advanced features aren't something that most customers are willing to pay for."
"It's priced fairly, avoiding any underestimation of its value."
"I assume it is not crazy. I know it is on a per-switch basis or per-device basis, but I am not sure what the exact values are."
"Auvik's pricing... is pretty competitive."
"The pricing is pretty reasonable for what we get. It's billed by certain, core network devices that it monitors, but I'm not billed for all the devices it monitors. For example, wireless access points and small things like that, throughout the network, are not billed."
"While the price is high, we are getting a lot of features for our money."
"The cost for all the devices that we were billed at in my last job was about $2500 annually. It wasn't much. It has the most reasonable pricing as compared to any product out there. I can't complain. It is amazing. It allows me to bundle inside the package what I charge customers per user per month. I don't charge them per device anymore. That's not how we do things in the industry. It is per user per month. The way Auvik is charging us allows me to do it. For example, if they charge $250 for a certain number of seats, I'm just going to write the costs onto per user per month. I have a few leftover licenses to use, which allows me to go out and make some more sales and give some freebies at some shows. So, it makes me very flexible. I am very happy with it. It is billed by network devices. You could choose which billable device you want. What is really nice is that if you don't want one switch to be billable and the other one to be billable, you can do that. You just won't have the features that the billable switch has, which isn't horrible. Sometimes, you don't need that. What I'm really happy about is that Auvik doesn't force things on you and doesn't say, "You have to have all of this," and that's a great business model."
"They are way too lenient in their pricing. To put that simply, I can have an entire network being monitored and it will cost nothing, as long as I'm not monitoring the firewall or the switches."
"The pricing for BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance is fairly comparable."
"BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance is reasonably priced."
"BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance meets our budget requirements."
