We performed a comparison between Arcserve UDP and Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Zerto, Commvault and others in Backup and Recovery."The solution has no limitations because it does backup for Linux and Windows."
"The most valuable features are the replication to the cloud and the deduplication."
"The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is the initiative UI and the logs are clear and detailed that are generated when there has been an issue or failure on the user's system. We only have to log onto the client's system to retrieve the information. It is possible to precisely identify the problem's location. The system categorizes and logs every step in a structured manner, selectively displaying only the essential logs. However, to view a comprehensive log, one must access the line machine log and examine the actual client for detailed logging."
"One of the things that I do like about it is that it has a very good deduplication feature."
"The standard backup and restore feature is most used."
"The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is live replication."
"The ROI is very good because of the speed of the backup."
"I like the tool's speed."
"This is a good product with a simple environment."
"The solution is very affordable for small businesses."
"It is a stable solution."
"Veeam is very useful for the Hyper-V environment."
"Technical support is good."
"It's straightforward to set up."
"The initial setup was straightforward. It was very easy. Deployment only took about one hour with configuration and everything considered."
"The interface of this solution is quite good."
"We could not go into granular details of retrieving backup information."
"We cannot restore each user's mailbox. Each user's mailbox should be independently restorable. Also, this solution is very slow. If you select all of the servers, it runs for a long time... It needs to be faster. Finally, If anything happens to one server we should be able to switch to another server."
"It should be easier to switch between backup locations. We have multiple data storage locations and sometimes one of those storages need to be replaced. It would be nice if they made it easier to reconfigure the backup configuration."
"Licensing can be quite difficult."
"The solution could improve by being more user-friendly. It can be difficult to assign destinations and choose which files and folders we need to back up. There are some aspects that are unclear."
"I had an issue with Arcserve UDP during the failover and the secondary machine didn't get back online, even though it ran automatically. I faced the issue during a crisis situation. However, I haven't faced such a problem again."
"They could work on their marketing approach. I don't see many people leveraging it."
"The time to backup servers that sit in DMZ must be improved."
"The stability of this solution needs to be improved."
"Interface could possibly be improved."
"I am not very impressed by the technical support I received when I had an issue."
"If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better."
"Updating and configuration can sometimes be a little bit of a hassel, but once you know the product better it is easy to use."
"Maybe in the future, they could do something better with the user interface and the performance, but so far it's a really good, efficient solution."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore. At the moment, restoration can only be smooth on the same hardware. Let's say you have a server and you back it up with Veeam Agent, in case it fails or crashes. If you later buy a new server because the same one isn't available on the market anymore, there's a high chance that Windows will not boot up if you restore from the Veeam backup because the hardware is now different. Acronis has the universal restore feature, so it will work with generic drivers and you can restore Windows in any dissimilar hardware. As far as I know, Veeam doesn't have this feature yet."
"They should improve the solution's automation features."
