Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Continuous backup ensures data safety and seamless operation
One of the most valuable features of Carbonite Safe Backup is its ability to support versioning, which allows me to restore previous versions if I accidentally mess up the data. It works silently in the background, and when needed, it's readily available. The seamless operation, 'set it and forget it,' ensures ease of use without causing system issues or interactions. Additionally, the continuous backup mode functions flawlessly.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"For me, it's been very successful and very effective."
"The most valuable feature is that you can do a bare-metal restore even with dissimilar hardware."
"The solution is exceptional for desktop backup."
"In our recent experiences, Acronis Cyber Protect proved most valuable during instances of colleagues facing migration challenges due to ransomware impacts. In these situations, where servers and backups were affected, having a backup stored in external drives or other devices within our data centers posed risks. To address this vulnerability, we decided to shift to a cloud backup solution."
"The recent release, Acronis 12, is integrated with Cloud Acronis and is useful to backup data while providing a stronger security policy for critical data."
"Getting an image of a server machine just for disaster recovery purposes is valuable."
"The most valuable feature is its ability to back up and recover our production environment from ransomware."
"It allows us to backup our remote sites to a local NAS device, and allows for easy retrieval of data."
"One of the most valuable features of Carbonite Safe Backup is its ability to support versioning, which allows me to restore previous versions if I accidentally mess up the data."
"I would recommend Carbonite to others with simple requirements. It does exactly what I need."

Cons

"The product needs to have a simple DR process."
"Acronis Backup can improve the latency when the file size is larger, we have had issues. Additionally, they could allow more flexibility when searching for information and I cannot download the CBIS backup copy information which could be made easier."
"Acronis support is pathetic. It takes five days to open the case."
"The new version has anti-malware and software management features, but these features should be enhanced."
"The licensing approach becomes intricate when dealing with SharePoint."
"If you are the owner of the information, and even when you need it faster, you have to pay for the information, come on. It's ridiculous what they are asking for."
"I needed tech support to straighten out an issue with cloud backup. I have troubleshooting to do with failed backups."
"It would be nice if it could support more types of storage: EMC, HPE, Veeam, etc."
"In the past, I faced a problem where Carbonite would interfere with system restore operations on a Windows 10 machine."
"In the past, I faced a problem where Carbonite would interfere with system restore operations on a Windows 10 machine. This issue was resolved with Windows 11."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing model is a little complex to find the right size for what you need. It takes a lot of hours to figure it out."
"The tool's subscription costs are monthly. The product's pricing is fair."
"When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all."
"We use the free version that provides very basic functionalities."
"The tool is cheap compared to other products."
"The price of Acronis Backup could be reduced, it is expensive."
"Doing what this is capable of doing, the cost of it is in line."
"There is a license required for this solution and it can be on a monthly basis."
