We use Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile for mobile devices like Android and Apple iOS.
Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile is very easy to deploy, and it is really easy to set up the policies.
Since deploying to a mobile device is not your average deployment to a workstation endpoint or a server, I would like to see more functions. It would be nice to have more flexibility regarding deployment.
I have been using Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile for two years.
I rate Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile a nine out of ten for stability.
Around 1,000 users are using the solution in our organization.
I rate Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile a nine out of ten for scalability.
The solution’s initial setup is very easy.
It takes about an hour or less for the policies to be created. Then, you provide the user with the link to download it from the Google Play Store or whatever is relevant to their mobile operating system. They need to install it and add a few details, like email address and password. Then, it will be linked to the endpoint security cloud console.
We have seen a return on investment with Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile because its licensing makes it easy to sell.
Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile comes inclusive of your endpoint security complete licensing. If you purchase complete licensing, Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile is added to that. You get the solution for free if you purchase the complete endpoint security licensing.
Overall, I rate Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile a nine out of ten.
One of the features I found very nice in Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile is that it's good at scanning and fixing issues on its own. The solution is very good at finding a lot of applications and notifying you about systems that have issues. Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile can run headless without having to report back which I found very nice about it.
I also like that the solution would create alerts when a certain amount of time lapsed for systems, and it would recommend going through and scanning the systems.
As an actual endpoint protection product, Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile is good.
For a lot of the issues my team experienced from Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile, Symantec said that getting the issues resolved would mean going through the partner that sold the product and creating an incident report to get the team to work on the actual company environment.
A lot of the problems my team has been having from Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile were associated with Outlook for endpoint users who were being locked out of the Outlook application.
Another area for improvement in Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile is its central web hub, where you're supposed to be able to update all of the endpoints because it wasn't reaching the endpoints. For example, even if the central web hub was able to see the endpoints and do the required scans, whenever you'd go to do a policy change, the policy change wouldn't propagate down to the endpoints.
The central web hub allows you to monitor all of your endpoints and allows you to choose actions you'd want to do to each of the endpoints such as pushing down on updates or scanning the system. The problem my team usually gets is that majority of the time, whenever my team would do policy updates, the updates won't propagate down to the users, so it was very inconsistent.
Needing to manually go through and scan systems is also an area for improvement in Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile. Currently, there's no way to automate its scanning process.
A lot of the other issues started appearing in Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile during situations when people wanted to customize different applications. Symantec doesn't like people doing a lot of customizations. For example, the main problem in my company is users losing access to Outlook, but then my team discovered that there was a specific policy set that you could disable, and it would fix a lot of the Outlook issues. However, when you'd go to change that policy set and attach that to a user to overwrite policies on the user side, it just wouldn't do anything for that user. It wouldn't even show that the policy was updated, so this is what needs to be improved in Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile.
The company I'm working in has used Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile longer than I have, but my experience with the application is nine months.
I never experienced any downtime with Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile. It's fairly stable, and it does its job nicely. For the longest time, I didn't see any issues with the solution at all other than it getting angry at other applications.
A lot of devices and domains are connected within my company, so Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile can either be set up as an alert or as a policy for auto-installation on systems. When you set up Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile correctly, you can expect a lot of scalability from it.
Trying to get support for Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile is annoying, and it's hard. Other than me trying to put the ticket in, then getting redirected with a message that said that I needed to talk to the reseller first, I don't have any opinions about the technical support for Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile.
On a scale of one to ten, I'd give support a rating of five because I'm neutral on it. I never got to interact with the Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile technical support team other than getting a redirection to work with the reseller.
In terms of the initial setup for Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile, I didn't set up the web portal access. A different person or team was in charge of that. However, for getting Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile on a system, my team just used an EXE installer for it. The solution was set up where it would automatically be connected to the central hub set, so whenever Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile is downloaded onto the system, you'd only need to perform minimal steps such as clicking "Next" once, then the system would restart, and you'll then see Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile on the system, so it was fairly simple to install the endpoints.
I don't have information on the finance part of Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile.
My advice to others looking into implementing Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile is that it makes more sense to just buy it directly from Symantec, so you can get direct support, rather than buying Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile from a reseller, then being redirected to a partner whenever you need support because that's just silly.
Before there were issues, my rating for Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile would be nine out of ten, but because of the current issues my company has been having with the solution, my rating for it is a six. It's been such a pain trying to get support for the issues, and that changed my whole perspective on Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile.
My company is a customer of Symantec.
I primarily use the solution in order to protect my phone.
The biggest advantage it has is the VPN product that is incorporated into the solution. The capability of doing a VPN to protect yourself when you are dealing with insecure public wifi is great.
Technical support has been good.
It's stable.
The pricing is quite reasonable.
When there is an attack attempt on mobile, there doesn't seem to be much of a notification. Therefore, I'm not sure if the product is doing something or if someone is trying to spoof the product to get a response out of me.
I've used the solution for a couple of years.
The solution is stable and reliable. That said, when I first put it on, I did have an issue with the VPN, which conflicted with the built-in VPN version on my phone.
This is not really a scalable product. The product I have they do not sell commercially.
Symantec's tech support is pretty good. I've gotten I've always gotten a good response from them that has been somewhat timely. They always seem to be able to address my issue when it comes up. That's been both on the commercial side and the retail side.
The pricing is pretty good. I'd rate the cost at a nine or ten out of ten in terms of affordability.
I'm a customer. I've used the solution both at work and in my personal life. However, I do not use it professionally anymore.
Professionally, we had Symantec for a number of years. We ended up dropping that here about a year and a half ago since, quite frankly, we couldn't get Symantec to answer our emails. We were basically told that we were told through a vendor that the size of my state agency that I work for was not big enough to warrant the attention of Symantec after they got purchased by Broadcom.
I do still use Symantec personally on my home devices. It's more of a retail product and no longer at the commercial level. And I do use the solution for mobile protection purposes.
I've used the mobile product on my phone, and it seems to be fine. This may be due to the fact that attackers do not go after phones as much as they would go after laptops.
I'd advise potential users to do the research and figure out which is the best option for them. What might work for me may not work for them. It may not have the features that they want. That said, the price point is good.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten for mobile. The PC option is a bit bloated.
This solution is used for wiping mobile device data remotely or taking full control of the device.
The most valuable feature is to be able to power up a device and wipe the data remotely.
It is very flexible when it comes to adding devices.
Having better, real-time support would be an improvement over having to send an email.
A central database to keep track of devices would be helpful.
I have been working with Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile for less than six months.
The solution is stable.
The Endpoint Protection Mobile is a scalable system. We have more than one hundred people using it.
Real-time support needs to be available.
We did not use another solution prior to this one.
The initial setup is straightforward.
We have an in-house implementation team that handled the deployment.
I would recommend this product because, in today's workplace, where people are bringing their laptops home, it is important to have the ability to take control of them remotely.
I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.
The primary use varies from client to client.
The solution has a lot of extremely useful features. It's reliable and makes search engines more powerful.
The user interface is good. Managing and monitoring tools are also good.
I'm not sure if there's anything lacking; I personally don't use the solution too much, so I'd have to look at it a bit and do some more research. I'm more on the operation side of things.
The stability of the solution is good. I'd rate it eight or nine out of ten.
Technical support is okay; we've been satisfied with the level of service we've received.
In comparison to Endpoint Protection, it's much easier.
We handled the implementation ourselves.
The pricing of the solution is fair.
We use both on-premises and cloud deployment models.
I'd rate the solution seven out of ten.
Your endpoint protection depends on the signature piece, so it's mainly for virus and malware protection, as well as also to control devices and applications.
We use the on-premises version of Symantec Endpoint Express. We work in the banking industry and due to our regulations from the Central Bank of Egypt, we are not allowed to use any cloud services.
Application and device control needs to be improved. We have been talking to Symantec because we have some requirements we need in this solution. They are working with us to include this if we upgrade to the enterprise edition. We are working now on this point.
We already have communicated to Symantec that we are looking for some features to be added to Endpoint. For example, we need to enhance login features for management to have good visibility of the events. We asked to make device controls more advanced to have read or written features like other endpoint services from another vendor. Symantec said we can check it and upgrade from Express to Enterprise to cover this. We are working with them on these points.
There is no issue with the stability of Endpoint.
It's easy to scale, it depends on the model from the beginning. If we were to buy Symantec Express, it would be limited to 2,000 users. If I exceed the 2,000, I'll have to go to the Enterprise to separate the database from the Symantec Endpoint. The scalability depends on my environment. It's not about the product itself.
Currently, we have around 1,000 users, and maybe I'll increase it to 2,000 during the coming quarter.
We are currently assessing many products from different vendors, to make the decision whether we'll upgrade to Enterprise or replace it with another vendor. Additionally, we are testing Advantage Endpoint Protection and EDR, although they do not support some features, so I would have to add another endpoint with machine learning for all of the special intelligence besides signature-based functioning.
The Symantec support could certainly be improved.
A long time before I joined the bank, I think they used to have another solution like Express.
The initial setup was straightforward.
The first deployment was by the integrator when we chose Box from Symantec. However, due to the latency of Box and because its performance was not good, we moved to a VM environment. That deployment we did ourselves.
If anyone wants to go with Endpoint Protection or Advantage Endpoint Protection or EDR, he should make a proper POC. He should make that POC by himself, he should be in direct contact to get the data and bring the vendors for each product to stand up for their own product. The efficiency of the product, detection rate, etc., are all factors that should be considered.
I would rate this solution as seven out of ten.

The primary use case of the solution is to secure our mobile devices. The company hosts our mobile devices and needs to secure them because they hold our emails and part of our data.
Of course, every new security control adds up to the whole cyber-security framework of our organization in a way that we manage our risks more easier and faster.
The patch management alerts are the most valuable. Whenever they have one, I get a notification. I can then handle the upgrades or updates.
Integration is good. You can integrate them with an off-brand endpoint solution. It has quite a few integration features you can use. It offers good scalability as well.
I've only spent a year with it. I'm still quite new to the solution. I'm not fully aware of all of its features. we lack local training to be much aware of proper administration & management of the product.
The product price is too expensive relatively to the Egyptian market here. Other competitors here in the local market offer more benefit than Symantec, I recommend if they need can be more competitive specially cost-wise.
The scalability is very good, especially with the integrations that they have with the other products like Office 365, the DLP, etc. Right now, we have less than 100 users.
Technical support is okay. On a scale of one to five, I would give it a three. I haven't experienced that many issues with them. As far as the problems that we've had or the challenges that we've faced it's quite good.
The solution is a cloud setup, so it's both simple and complex at the same time. You only need one person for maintenance.
The solution is subscription-based.
We did evaluate other options. We looked at Cisco, Trend Micro, and McAfee. We didn't evaluate in the sense of making a proof of concept of each. We asked around and got others who have used them to provide insights.
We are using the public cloud deployment model.
I would rate the solution seven out of ten.
