Which ERP solution better suits a manufacturing company: SAP Business One or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central?

As someone who’s worked as a Dynamics 365 Partner, here’s the practical view:

Both are solid, but the choice depends on how complex your manufacturing is and how much you want to scale.

SAP Business One

• 
  Strong out-of-the-box for basic manufacturing + finance
  


• 
  Faster to implement for smaller setups
  


• 
  Less flexible when processes become complex
  

Dynamics 365 Business Central

• 
  Better for growing manufacturing companies
  


• 
  Strong integration with Microsoft stack (Excel, Power BI, Teams)
  


• 
  More flexible with extensions/ISVs for advanced scenarios
  

My honest take:

• 
  If your processes are simple and stable → SAP Business One works
  


• 
  If you expect growth, customization, integrations → go with D365 Business Central
  

In most real projects I’ve seen, companies outgrow rigid systems faster than they expect, so flexibility matters more long term.

Both are not the right fit for Manufacturing company because these 2 solutions are built for small and medium size enterprises mainly for accounting purpose but not for operations.  They need modules like Production planning & Scheduling, Quality management, adv' inventory optimization, Shoop floor control, Supplier management, Adv' warehouse, Inbound and outbound logistics and so on.

My recommendation is to evaluate ERP software from a long-term perspective as it is a big investment. As I understand, your organization is growing and needs better control and reporting hence you are looking for business transformation and digitalization therefore ERP is the first step in business transformation.

The standard functionality is strong and you can always add extensions if any additional feature is required.
