What is our primary use case?
Our main use case for SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages is managing the database that supports our business application. We use it to process daily transactions and generate reports for different departments. Multiple teams access these applications throughout the day, and we need the database to be available and handle the load.
Our example is our daily sales and order processing, which supports our business applications. Whenever a customer places an order, the application stores the details in SQL Server, updates the transaction record, and makes the information available to our finance and operations team. At the end of the day, we use the same data to generate the sales report and reconcile the transactions. What I find useful is that different departments can work with the same information without maintaining separate records. It makes the whole process more organized and reduces the chance of data mismatch between the teams.
Our development and database team also uses SQL Server for testing application changes and managing database updates. Whenever we introduce a new feature, we usually test it in a separate environment before moving it into production. This helps us avoid disrupting our daily business operations. Apart from that, it is mostly about keeping our applications running reliably and making sure the right data is available to the teams that need it.
How has it helped my organization?
One of the biggest improvements we have noticed since using SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages is that our applications are easier to maintain, especially when we are releasing updates or making changes to the database. Our development and DBA team can work more efficiently because they have better tools to identify issues and manage database changes. We also improved our backup and recovery process, which gives us more confidence when handling important business data. Another benefit is that our reporting team can access the information they need without depending on developers for every small request. Overall, it made our daily operations more organized and reduced the time we spend on routine database maintenance.
What is most valuable?
For me, the features that stand out in SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages are SQL Server Agent, Query Store, and the backup and recovery option. SQL Server Agent is particularly useful because we can schedule routine jobs and do not have to remember to run everything manually. I also appreciate Query Store because it lets us compare the query performance before and after application updates, which is helpful when we are testing new releases. Another thing I appreciate is how well SQL Server works with our existing Windows environment. We can manage user access through Active Directory, which makes things easier for our IT team. These are the features we find most useful in our regular work.
Query Store is really helpful when something changes after an application update in SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages. For example, if a report that normally takes a few seconds suddenly starts taking much longer, we can use Query Store to compare its previous and current execution plans. This helps us understand whether the update affected the query or whether SQL Server started using a different execution plan. Instead of spending hours trying different fixes, our DBA team can focus on the actual change. I particularly appreciate that we can look back at the previous performance data rather than having to reproduce the problem every time.
What needs improvement?
One area I would like to see improved in SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages is the licensing and feature limitations in the standard edition. Some of the more advanced capabilities are now only available in the Enterprise edition, which can be frustrating when our requirements grow. Another challenge is managing database upgrades and compatibility, particularly when we are moving older applications to a newer environment. We sometimes have to spend extra time testing everything to make sure existing applications continue working properly. I would also appreciate if Microsoft would simplify some of the configuration options and make troubleshooting error messages easier to understand. The product works well for our regular operations, but these improvements would make life easier for our development and DBA teams.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages for about a year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages has met our expectations in terms of accuracy and reliability. We use it for business transactions and financial reporting, so having consistent data is really important for us. One thing I appreciate is its transaction management, which helps maintain data consistency even when multiple users are working on the same application. We also have validation checks in place to catch incorrect data before it affects our reports. Occasionally, we come across incorrect data inputs, but we have not faced any major issues with SQL Server itself. Overall, we are quite satisfied with its reliability.
SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages has been quite stable for our requirements. We have not experienced any major unexpected downtime, and our production applications have been running consistently. Most of the interruptions we had were during planned maintenance, such as Windows updates or database upgrades. Since we are using Azure, we also monitor the health of our virtual machines and schedule maintenance outside business hours wherever possible. Occasionally, we had to restart services after updates, but nothing that has seriously affected our operations. Overall, reliability has not been a major concern for us.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages has handled our requirements very well, and the scalability is excellent. We have not faced any issues during this time, and it is quite stable for our requirements.
How are customer service and support?
We have not contacted any customer support for SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages because most things we can handle ourselves.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before moving to SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages, we were using an older version of SQL Server for most of our applications. As our requirements grew, we wanted to move to the newer version with better performance, security, and long-term support. We also wanted to modernize our infrastructure and make better use of Azure. Since our team was already familiar with SQL Server, upgrading made more sense than switching to a completely different database platform. The migration required some compatibility testing, but we did not have to make major changes to our existing applications.
What was our ROI?
We have seen a good return on investment from SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages, mainly through lower maintenance effort and better use of Azure resources. One benefit is that we can adjust our cloud resources based on actual requirements instead of maintaining additional infrastructure that we may not always need. We have also been able to support new business applications without expanding our database team. I do not have an exact figure for money saved, and we have not reduced our headcount. Overall, the cost of managing our database has become more predictable. For us, we have saved much time in this. The biggest return for us is being able to support our growing business without a similar increase in operational costs.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I feel the pricing for SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages is reasonable for what we get, although the overall cost can increase when we add more databases or need additional resources in Azure. The initial setup is not too difficult since our team is already familiar with SQL Server, but configuring the production environment, migrating existing data, and testing application compatibility take some time. Licensing is one area I think Microsoft could simplify, especially when choosing between different purchasing options and understanding what is included in the standard edition. We also have to keep an eye on our cloud infrastructure costs. Overall, the investment has worked well for our requirements, but proper cost planning is important.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We mainly considered PostgreSQL and Azure SQL Database before deciding to continue with SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages. PostgreSQL was interesting because of its lower licensing cost, while Azure SQL Database offered less infrastructure management. However, since most of our existing applications were already built around SQL Server, we preferred to stay with a platform our team was familiar with. Moving to a completely different database would have required additional development, migration, and testing, so upgrading our existing environment was the more practical option for us.
What other advice do I have?
I give SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages a rating of 10 out of 10 because it meets our day-to-day requirements and works well with our existing applications. What stands out to me is how familiar and straightforward it is for our team to manage. We did not have to completely change the way we work, and the automation and recovery features have made a real difference. There are still a few things Microsoft could improve, especially around licensing, but those have not been a major problem for us. Considering how much we depend on it for our business operations, I am happy with the overall experience.
We use SQL Server 2022 Standard on Windows 2025 | Support by SupportedImages on Windows Server in a hybrid environment.
