1 Scalability
2 Security
3 Vendor Support/ ease of adminstrative tasks
4 Cost-effectiveness + stability of pricing
AWS is good at #1 and #2
while I see several issues:
#3 administration - it is complex, burocratic and ineffectual; as a matter of fact I had several issue with credit card (losing number, missing payments etc...)
#4 the portfolio of service changes too frequently and there are too many price structure changes
in other words: cost structure changes continuously, by few% point, but in any case requires continuous / frequent attention , Adminstration is very complex, inefficient -
and all the above in quite disappointing
