What is our primary use case?
It's being used to protect our enterprise from viruses and malware.
What is most valuable?
We've never had a virus attack that we know of.
It's very good at protecting us in general.
We can block certain things like USBs. It helps us implement very useful cybersecurity controls.
The initial setup is very easy.
What needs improvement?
The way that ePolicy launches the updates is very slow. It would be great if that was faster.
They need to enhance their vulnerability scanner so we can be more secure.
The most tedious part of the product is when you block USBs. To make an exception for a user means you have to deal with a very difficult user interface. It would be better if they fixed that so only the administrator could click it somewhere and give permission. Right now, the user has to send a keyword, then the administrator has to use that keyword to make the exception for the user. It's very complicated for the user to do. They don't know how to do that.
They could use some cell phone MDM to control the cell phones and the tablets and stuff. They don't have that. They need better integration with MDM devices.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have 18 years of experience with McAfee products.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I'd rate the stability ten out of ten. It's reliable. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We have about 400 to 500 users on the solution. Everyone has a McAfeee account installed on their machine.
The solution scales well. I'd rate the ease of scaling ten out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
We receive technical support from the partner, and they are very good. We've never had to contact McAfee. We just contact the supplier if we have questions. They answer almost immediately.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We did not previously use a different solution.
How was the initial setup?
It's easy to set up the solution. It's not overly difficult or complex. I'd rate the ease of implementation nine out of ten.
The initial deployment was one week.
Right now, only one person is in charge of the McAfee Orchestrator. Every time a new computer comes out, they already have the agent on it. It's one person handling everything, including maintenance, and he's the infrastructure manager.
What about the implementation team?
We had a consultant who sold the licenses to us. They also handled service to implement it. They sent us a technician to help us do it.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I do not have exact pricing details, however, I would rate the price at a four out of ten overall. There may be some extra costs for support if you get it from a partner.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
18 years ago, when we were evaluating solutions, we looked at both McAfee and Norton and McAfee won.
What other advice do I have?
We're a customer and end-user.
I'd advise companies to change to new and better endpoint protection if they haven't already. They need to look into something that offers zer-day protection, for example, and really focus on security. McAfee is becoming Trellix. I'm not sure if they will include zero-day protection or if they will improve services to update more often for better protection. If not, I will not use them anymore.
I'd rate the solution five out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
