Decades of use have delivered secure, customizable control for public sector operations and finance
I have just completed three assessments: one on inventory demand planning, another on using artificial intelligence to bring supplier contracts in portable document format directly into PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft works both internally as well as with third-party products that integrate seamlessly with PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft operates both from a need-to-know-only basis as well as being able at the same time to do group purchase and realize large quantity purchase discounts. My clients have used marketplaces, and it is really industry-specific whether they use one or not, or if there is even one available. I would rate this product nine out of ten.

A customizable, end-to-end solution for Performance Management, Learning, and Succession Planning
* There should be a feature for succession managers to add employee-specific comments so that it is visible only to the manager. * Not sure how this can be made easier, but the development of interface from the core HR system to this system is a tedious and time-consuming process, involving multiple iterations of modifications and testing. * Analytics is one area where this system really needs a large improvement because currently, it has only basic reporting features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I often say that PeopleSoft's greatest feature is how customizable it is."
"PeopleSoft automatically generates code, making it easier to integrate with third-party or internal systems."
"I think PeopleSoft is a good tool for HR administrators; it's easy to navigate compared to the other ERPs, the management of the tool is straightforward from the employee's perspective so the employee experience is good, and PeopleSoft is intuitive so no one needs to be taught how to use the system."
"This solution has the potential of making life easier, so it is just a question of adaptation to it."
"This is a good product and I recommend it, although it depends on the use case for the business."
"The breadcrumb approach to navigation in PeopleSoft is good. nVision is also a good supplement."
"Its user interface is impressive."
"The technical support is very robust and I am satisfied with it."
"System usability has improved to a large extent and our manual effort has been reduced."

Cons

"From an administration perspective, I think Oracle needs more clarity on their road map as to where they are going to improve the product."
"An area for improvement would be PeopleSoft's global payroll capabilities, which could be easier to use."
"The UI and user experience are not great, and it's not as feature-rich as today's systems. Furthermore, our implementation does not include all the components we need, like payroll or some other functions."
"This solution could be improved by lowering the cost of support."
"I wasn't part of the team that originally implemented it, but I was involved in upgrades. I think it was extremely difficult."
"Data might get lost, for instance."
"One aspect where PeopleSoft could see improvement is in its level of customization."
"Initial setup can be complex without training or use of consultants."
"Analytics is one area where this system really needs a large improvement because currently, it has only basic reporting features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are no additional costs for licensing."
"I don't know if they are still providing licenses or if they have suspending licenses."
"It's approximately $3,000,000 to $4,000,000 USD per year."
"I would rate the pricing an eight out of ten, with ten being expensive."
"Mostly yearly payments are to be made toward licensing costs. It is not much of an expensive solution."
"PeopleSoft has a yearly maintenance fee."
"This solution offers annual licensing. We pay per user."
"The solution is priced per module."
"Licensing is quite flexible, but please ensure that you have the right team negotiating with them."
