More than reliable, with satisfied results for our needs, and excellent testing options
For the moment we are looking to automated testing, and there today apparently it is not working well with the application we want to test. So we are using an application on a terminal server and some quirks make it challenging to make automatic testing. It would be nice to be able to test offline. What I mean by that is today most of the time things are in the cloud, but sometimes when we are in factories we do not have network access and we should be able to download a test script into our PCs and do the test offline. Once that is complete we can re-upload it when we again have a network connection.

Good data security, allowing local installations to prevent data from going to the internet
There were a lot of issues we faced. One notable improvement would be better API integration within the tool itself, as we still rely on external tools like Postman. Additionally, expanding language support beyond C#, Java, and JavaScript to include Python would be beneficial. An AI feature that automatically detects automation object properties and suggests actions would be a great addition. So, in future releases, AI solutions for automated property identification would be helpful.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Provides better monitoring for testing campaigns and business process testing."
"The test repository to follow the test progress is most valuable because we can easily create and manage a huge number of test scripts. We can copy and paste, replicate, and drag and drop many tests scripts. We can create test scripts en masse. When you have a high volume of tests, the tool is quite useful. It works well when you want to manage a lot of tests, such as you have 1,000 or more test scripts."
"The initial setup was not complex and the product itself is very easy to configure and use."
"Without Panaya, it will be difficult to manage a large number of test scripts; Panaya is very useful for being organized and structured in managing test scripts, it provides us with actionable insights in real-time into every aspect of our project, and in one click we can see some of the KPIs that are available to us in real-time, which is great."
"It is easy for business users to use who are not familiar with testing tools."
"I like the fact that we have a single platform that provides all the features and where it is possible to have good reporting capabilities as opposed to integrating a few systems in order to achieve some of the functionalities."
"Test migration from HPE are done automatically. We can extract our tests from HPE, and they convert it into the Panaya format."
"It is easy for business users to use who are not familiar with testing tools."
"The solution is fast and includes built-in libraries that record and playback."
"It's improved our company in a numbers of ways, but most importantly it helps us save time and the report preparation is nice and easy."
"Since it is possible to reference the API from some other tools and solutions, instead of being forced to use Ranorex studio, we gained a lot on flexibility and re-using our existing tools and technologies in combination with Ranorex features which are relevant for our test automation process."
"The solution is stable."
"With a small team of one onshore person and three offshore people, I was able to show the value of $90,000 savings for a project as a POC and the customer is currently using this tool for several other projects in their organization after seeing the ROI for one project."
"In this particular area Ranorex proved to be a perfect choice."
"Cross browser testing and the ability to perform mobile test automation mean you do not need to buy two different solutions for mobile and web channels separately."
"I’ve always found their support second to none, with responses to my questions answered promptly and technical staff who are extremely technical, which is refreshing given the generally basic support previously experienced from other vendors."

Cons

"I think the costs can be improved because replacing the existing solutions with Panaya was actually quite expensive."
"The setup of Panaya Recorder is a bit complex. Panaya is a SaaS application, but you need to install some components on your computer. You need to set up your computer to allow Panaya Recorder to work. There are five or six things to do each time you install Panaya for any user. If you miss something, Panaya Recorder doesn't work. So, it is complex to install."
"They provide options for custom fields or tabs, but customization of workflows would be great."
"The cost of the license was a little expensive, and we didn't deploy Panaya to a large extent to many users."
"They provide options for custom fields or tabs, but customization of workflows would be great."
"Support is reactive and in English only."
"It would be nice to be able to test offline. What I mean by that is today most of the time things are in the cloud, but sometimes when we are in factories and we do not have network access and we should be able to download a test script into our PCs and do the test offline. Once that is complete we can re-upload it when we have a network connection."
"The current version of Ranorex Studio IDE is based on an old version of SharpDevelop IDE (3.2), but this is going to change soon (planned update to SharpDevelop 4.x)."
"Snapshots for WPF applications taking too long than expected."
"They need to improve their support of different web browsers along with Flash support."
"If there are many queries on the web page, Ranorex will not render the page correctly."
"For our purposes it requires integration with other products to get out the results in the format we want them. Adding this to the product could improve it."
"No real issues, but I had to force close Ranorex Studio a couple of times, as it was stuck with the 'Not Responding' message for a long time on Windows 7."
"I would definitely say that the existing documentation of their API has a lot of room for improvement."
"The solution has good quality and functionality but I would not recommend it because of its unfamiliarity in the market."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is rather expensive due to the security it has to offer."
"It is expensive. Because of its cost, we couldn't deploy Panaya to a large extent. Its licensing should be improved, and there should be more license types. There should be an advanced license and a basic license."
"This solution is a more expensive solution compared to some of the other competitors."
"Our company has one license per user with each costing two lakh rupees."
"There are several types of licenses and you need to choose depending on your needs and level of usage."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"The licensing fees depend on the number of users."
"We paid €3,000 (approximately $3,300 USD) for this solution. When you add the runtime licenses it will be €3,500 (approximately $3,900 USD)."
