A stable solution with an intuitive interface and quick customer service
I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, Sophos, and SonicWall. I'm not as comfortable with SonicWall because of their UI and limitations. I prefer Fortinet above all other options. When it comes to configuration, I am confident in my ability to handle various tasks, including creating policies such as firewall rules, web policies, and application policies. Additionally, I can configure VPNs and implement load balancing, among other tasks. Overall, I feel much more comfortable working with Fortinet. Fortinet has made significant improvements by integrating AI with firewalls for threat analysis and prevention. In the past 2-3 years, they have launched FortiSASE and SIEM, and they also provide SOC services. Both Palo Alto and Fortinet FortiGate are excellent. While Fortinet FortiGate comes at higher prices, the functionality and support justify the cost. They promptly resolve firmware issues and inform all support providers about configuration changes.

Provides reliable performance with strong features and simplicity
SonicWall TZ is user-friendly, admin-friendly, and a beautiful product. I have been selling SonicWall since 2007 without any issues. SonicWall has been working on it excellently. They are up to date, and their research team is good, making the box feature-rich. Based out of India, I have had some issues with their faulty channel policy. It's a very good product, an awesome product for those who want to use SonicWall TZ. You can bet on it, but check out the channel policies in India. They should check out the channels in the channel business. It's just a precaution, nothing more than that. Overall rating: 9 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use the filtering feature the most. It has filtering and inbuilt securities. We can create customized rules to define which users can access a particular type of site. We can create policies inside the firewall."
"FortiGate is more feature-rich and has a broader range of hardware. T"
"It's super reliable. I don't think I've ever had a reliability issue with it."
"It has a valuable SD-WAN feature and provides good performance."
"Its interface is the most valuable. It is quite easy to manage."
"There are lots of features and most of them are deployed for internet security. Users are protected if they accidentally go to some malicious sites."
"It is a good product. It does what we want it to do so. I didn't find many false-positives or things like that. We mainly use the IPS and URL filtering features, and they are pretty good."
"The primary feature I appreciate about Fortinet FortiGate is the ease of setup."
"The stability of Palo Alto Networks CN-Series is excellent."
"The app inspection is very helpful for network security."
"The advanced gateway security features such as web filter, application control filter, IPS, ideas, gateway antivirus, anti-spyware, and botnet filter are valuable."
"For SMB segments, SonicWall performs well."
"The technical support is prompt, often resolving issues quickly through remote sessions."
"The most common feature in the firewall, apart from that traditional firewall, would be the security services, like application control, URL filtering, Gateway Anti-Virus, and IPS protection. These are the essential features in the firewalls which I think, has to be enabled and properly used at every network infrastructure."
"Good VPN connection."
"Its user interface and simplicity are the most favorite parts for our clients. They find it stable and easy to use. Its performance is also good."
"I like the firewall product, the security server, and the content filter."
"SonicWall TZ is very user-friendly and has network MAC binding. Additionally, the firewall works well."

Cons

"I face difficulties integrating Fortinet FortiGate with Active Directory."
"The dashboard is not user friendly so is a bit complicated."
"Difficult to add or define, and not that easy to configure and manage."
"This product could be improved with Active directory integration and better handling in IPsec and GRE Tunnels."
"We would like to see better pricing."
"There are some license issues. Not every feature must have a separate license. There must be some of kind synergy between the license so we don't have to pay for every individual license that we would like to have."
"I think they need to improve more in order to be a competitor with the leaders of the field."
"Fortinet FortiGate can improve the integration with Active Directory. Additionally, I would like to have a Cloud Controller, such as they do in the Cisco Meraki solution."
"Palo Alto Networks CN-Series could improve on its pricing as it is quite expensive."
"I'd like to see more IOPs features."
"We require centralized monitoring of the network features, which they have but they are not to the level that we require."
"SonicWall should incorporate dynamic DNS services to eliminate the need for third-party solutions, particularly for environments using dynamic IP addresses."
"The dashboard needs to be improved."
"The logs need improvement."
"The solution's cost needs improvement."
"The price could be better for us in Bolivia."
"The user support could be improved because you have to go outside to get that kind of support."
"There is a point I don't like about SonicWall in the past and now. Most of the destinations we look at when we're detecting some user using too much bandwidth or something like that, SonicWall just gave us destination IP address, instead of the full qualified domain name. I think that's the most important part that is still missing. I think that's the most important for us."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is very reasonable."
"If the customer is looking for SD-WAN, it comes free with FortiGate."
"Each feature costs money, so it is important to study your needs."
"There is only a standard license cost to use the solution."
"I would rate the pricing a five out of ten"
"I give the pricing a nine out of ten."
"The pricing is flexible."
"It's a very full-featured and it's priced well solution."
