Has supported faster test execution and increased flexibility while offering room to improve support responsiveness
Reducing the levels of support is something they could continue to improve. They tend to have an entry-level person that may not be as familiar with the product that fields the calls, which creates another day of delay to get to the level that's needed. This is a common practice across most companies where you call, you get the entry-level person, and then they work their way up to help screen calls so that they are more focused.

I was not impressed with how detailed their analytics and logs are from LambdaTest. The solution we were testing is being used because many of us are working from home. It was easy to implement because with a real phone, we have to bring a real phone to each person. Since three years ago, many employees have been working from home, so we were trying to find a solution for this challenge. We had no need to exploit the information for the analytics generated in the background. The purpose was simply to make it easy for our employees to access a phone. The downsides I noticed include that the pricing was very good, but the visual quality of the image sometimes suffers. The contrast on a real iPhone provides better contrast than with the cloud solution. The only aspect that was less favorable than on a real phone was the contrast of the color.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"UFT has improved our ability to regression test."
"The solution is in the top list for automatic functional testing."
"I like the fact that we can use LeanFT with our UFT licenses as well."
"A key benefit, obviously, is in terms of effort savings that we have achieved using UFT."
"Micro Focus' Unified Functional Testing tool is shaping up to return as a major contender in the test automation field."
"I support UFT as the best solution due to the skill set needed to operate the tool."
"With certainty, the best feature of UFT is its compatibility with so many products, tools and technologies. It is a challenge currently to find a single tool on the market besides UFT that will successfully work for so many projects and environments. For example, UFT supports GUI testing of Oracle, PeopleSoft, PowerBuilder, SAP (v7.20), Siebel, Stingray, Terminal Emulator, Putty, and Windows Objects (particularly Dialog Boxes). Furthermore, UFT has the built-in functionality to import Excel input files."
"One advantage of Micro Focus UFT is that it is more compatible with SAP, Desktop ECC SAP, than S/4HANA."
"The real devices feature is the most valuable feature for us."
"This product offers out-of-the-box geolocation testing in automation, which is amazing!"
"Using LambdaTest, we could run all our functionality tests across various browsers, OS, and resolutions."
"LambdaTest has helped me gain more customers."
"We use the solution for automation testing and monitoring."
"LambdaTest made a great fit here when considering the latest browsers on the product."
"The slow nature of a cloud platform was compensated with parallel testing, and now we are able to finish our testing job faster than it was before COVID."
"LambdaTest was handy and easy enough to save us a lot of time, effort, and money."

Cons

"Scalability can be high, but there are things that work against it. You're bound by the licensing structure, so in order to get bigger benefits, you have to have multiple copies, and that costs a ton of money."
"In my opinion, the improvement of the object recognition of new technologies and the capacity to catch more performance info should be desirable."
"One thing that confused me, and now just mildly irritates me, is that we migrated from QuickTest Pro to HP UFT, Unified Functional Test. After we did the migration, it turned out that we didn't really have Unified Functional Test at all."
"The scripting language could be improved. They're currently using Visual Basic, but I think that people need something more advanced, like Python or Java."
"One area for improvement is its occasional slowness."
"Previously, the product was a script-based solution. Presently, the tool offers non-script, no-code, or low-code functionalities, making it an area where improvements are required."
"Needs to improve the integration with the CI/CD pipeline (VSTS and report generation)."
"We frequently encountered stability issues when the browser dependency caused Windows to consume memory without releasing it, leading to crashes during regression testing."
"I feel that the automated screenshot testing takes a little longer on MacOS sometimes."
"I've also had some issues with the speed of certain API calls and the rendering of data. For example, when I'm onboarding data, the process can be slow."
"LambdaTest needs to have native application testing, which would be a great help to my team."
"If possible to simulate the finger pinch, it would make it more realistic."
"Analytics could be better because as of now, it gives basic information on test status and build status."
"I would like to see all of the features available in the freemium plan so that I can test them."
"Load flow compared to other stacks needs improvement."
"Sometimes, when multiple users use the tool simultaneously, it can slow down, affecting efficiency."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing fee is good. If someone makes use of the solution once a day for a half hour then the fee will be more expensive. For continuous use and application of the solution to different use cases, the fee is average."
"OpenText UFT One is a very expensive solution."
"HPE recently extended the demo license period from 30 days to 60 days which was a very wise and popular decision to give potential customers more time to install it and try it for free. Even if your company has a salesperson come in and demo UFT, I would highly encourage at least one of your developers or automation engineers to download and install it to explore for themselves the functionality and features included during the demo trial period."
"The pricing of the product is an issue."
"The price is one aspect that could be improved."
"The price is only $3,000. I don't know how many QA analysts you would have in any given company. Probably no more than five or 10. So if it's a large corporation, it can easily afford $15,000 to $25,000. I don't see that being an issue."
"The way the pricing model works is that you pay a whole boatload year one. Then, every year after, it is around half or less. Because instead of paying for the new product, you are just paying for the support and maintenance of it. That is probably one of the biggest things that I hear from most people, even at conferences, "Yeah, I would love to use UFT One, but we don't have a budget for it.""
"The tool's price is high."
"LambdaTest is on the cloud, offers both free and paid plans which start at $19 USD per month."
"I used the product for free."
"LambdaTest is priced well, which is why we migrated to it."
"LambdaTest is paid per execution."
"The tool is not cheap, but it is not expensive."
"This is an affordable product."
"From the customer side, LambdaTest is cheaper for big company usage and works fine as other similar applications."
"It is 60% cheaper and there is no fuss in maintaining the lab, so we have more time to do the testing."
