Proactive monitoring boosts system reliability but requires improved protocol support and script customization
Improvements can be made to OpenText Business Process Monitoring, especially since we have faced issues with protocol support and creating scripts in past implementations. Creating a proactive request requires a specific skill set, so a template for scripts that work across various protocols should be recommended. The dashboard of OpenText Business Process Monitoring is good enough, but in my operational environment, it is not sufficient. Therefore, I have had to customize everything beyond the package, utilizing Prometheus and Grafana to render more dashboards.

Affordable tool boosts code scanning efficiency but faces integration hurdles
I lead a code security practice for our organization. We integrated Snyk into our GitHub, using CLI to automatically scan codebases and identify issues. We are a large organization with three independent entities, consolidating Snyk across all entities.  We also provide access through numerous…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Automates processes and allows reports and statistics to improve the speed at which changes and assets are managed."
"The tool team was sort of aware of those tools to deal with. And, that helped us to deliver the project on time."
"The main benefits of using OpenText Business Process Monitoring for my company include anomaly detection and proactive analysis, which enhance our monitoring capabilities."
"The stability has been very good over the years."
"The most important feature of Snyk is its cost-effectiveness compared to other solutions such as Check Point."
"It has an accurate database of vulnerabilities with a low amount of false positives."
"Snyk is a good and scalable tool."
"The most valuable feature of Snyk is the SBOM."
"The most effective feature in securing project dependencies stems from its ability to highlight security vulnerabilities."
"It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"Snyk performs software composition analysis (SCA) similar to other expensive tools."
"The dependency checks of the libraries are very valuable, but the licensing part is also very important because, with open source components, licensing can be all over the place. Our project is not an open source project, but we do use quite a lot of open source components and we want to make sure that we don't have surprises in there."

Cons

"The solution should offer better integration with other tools from a service management perspective."
"It doesn't have SNMP, the standard communication protocol for sending alerts."
"Product documentation is lacking, and sometimes, incorrect. Having better documentation will allow business analysts and data center personnel to rely on the Micro Focus help desk less."
"Improvements can be made to OpenText Business Process Monitoring, especially since we have faced issues with protocol support and creating scripts in past implementations."
"We had some issues integrating into our pipeline, however, they were resolved."
"Snyk should improve the scanning capabilities for other languages. For example, Veracode is strong with different languages such as Java, C#, and others."
"Snyk has several limitations, including issues with Gradle, NPM, and Xcode, and trouble with AutoPR."
"I would like to give further ability to grouping code repositories, in such a way that you could group them by the teams that own them, then produce alerting to those teams. The way that we are seeing it right now, the alerting only goes to a couple of places. I wish we could configure the code to go to different places."
"We were using Microsoft Docker images. It was reporting some vulnerabilities, but we were not able to figure out the fix for them. It was reporting some vulnerabilities in the Docker images given by Microsoft, which were out of our control. That was the only limitation. Otherwise, it was good."
"Technically, we have better vulnerabilities detection in Checkmarx and Veracode. Both of them are more precise about vulnerabilities detection."
"They need to improve the Snyk plugins and make it easier to make your optimizations based on your own needs or features."
"For the areas that they're new in, it's very early stages for them. For example, their expertise is in looking at third-party components and packages, which is their bread-and-butter and what they've been doing for ages, but for newer features such as static analysis I don't think they've got compatibility for all the languages and frameworks yet."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"On a three-year license package, it was a good deal."
"The price is good. Snyk had a good price compared to the competition, who had higher pricing than them. Also, their licensing and billing are clear."
"I didn't think the price was that great, but it wasn't that bad, either. I'd rate their pricing as average in the market."
"The pricing is acceptable, especially for enterprises. I don't think it's too much of a concern for our customers. Something like $99 per user is reasonable when the stakes are high."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the pricing a three. It is a cheap solution."
"It's good value. That's the primary thing. It's not cheap-cheap, but it's good value."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"Presently, my company uses an open-source version of the solution. The solution's pricing can be considered quite reasonable owing to the features they offer."
"The solution is less expensive than Black Duck."
