We performed a comparison between Nakivo and Veeam Backup Replication based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, Nakivo finishes ahead of Veeam. Users felt that Nakivo helped reduce costs, has excellent automation and is very scalable. Nakivo helped users save time due to its simplistic, reliable processes. However, Veeam users did feel that Veeam’s cloud version needs more maturity to be competitive in today's market.
"It was also very easy to configure backups to be sent offsite to a separate repository for disaster recovery needs."
"The product is good for protecting very low-budget offices, whereas other solutions fail in terms of cost and footprint of the VMs involved."
"The backup for physical machines and replication for the virtual environment are the most valuable aspects."
"Creating a backup task in NAKIVO is fast and easy."
"The most important feature besides the easy management of the different backup jobs is the automated e-mail notification functionality."
"The speed of the backups and replications is fantastic and, for the most part, the simplicity of use has been wonderful."
"Nakivo is an easy-to-use, robust and cost-effective backup solution. I highly recommend it."
"The product is easy to manage for any IT person who is new to backup, recovery, and replication."
"Veeam is the gold standard for backup and recovery. The ease of use and reliability of this solution are real assets. Also, it has an ease of use to work with a third party vendor."
"It serves its intended purpose and it works well."
"We get a lot of features with Veeam and we are happy to use this solution. After shutdown, the servers here automatically turn off and Veeam is keeping up all this. It's tension free work."
"The instant VM recovery feature is the most valuable. It is a very good tool for disaster recovery. It is also easy to manage."
"With regard to our operational requirements, Veeam is very good because it's so user-friendly."
"In Veeam backup, the most valuable feature for me is the recovery. It allows me to recover almost immediately while I continue fixing the problem of the affected machine."
"It's simply very good software for backup purposes."
"The most valuable feature is how reliable Veeam Backup is. It has the normal expected features that allow you to ensure that everything is backed up completely."
"One of the things I liked least about this software is when an update was pushed to one of the servers we had, somehow we didn't receive the update and needed some quick troubleshooting."
"Sometimes, for some VMs and some Windows Server versions, specifically old versions (aka server 12 or older) fail due to the VSS writer error or locking file system."
"The process for getting unused diskspace back from the data repository is slow."
"We would like to back up File Shares to Amazon S3/Wasabi."
"So far, there is no version that supports Polish. If such a version existed, many customers in our region would decide to purchase and implement this solution."
"For us, it would be best to improve the speed of the backup instead of adding new features."
"While the solution provides mostly what we need, it would be ideal if there were some additional feature capabilities for the API."
"Updating VM tools on a replicated VM could be better."
"We would like to have the ability to perform more things on the web interface. The heavy client is still needed to perform advanced tasks."
"The only improvement I could think of is it could be cheaper—cheaper is always good. Sometimes the product is just finished. Cheaper is always nice for the customer, but the company needs to benefit so that they can keep maintaining the product. New Windows versions, etc., always take some work. At the moment, I wouldn't switch to another solution because of the money."
"Physical backup is always where room for improvement could be but Veeam has always stated they are not going in that direction."
"The solution could improve by having a version to be compatible with the Linux system. They have improved the storage depository using the Linux proxy and Linux storage, but it can completely run on the Linux environment it would be much better."
"The price can be better."
"Veeam Backup Replication could improve by making the monitoring system free. If I would like to have any monitoring system by Veeam I have to purchase it. It should come free with the solution. They should provide a monitoring system to make the work easier and smooth."
"The initial setup is not always easy, and customers often need a lot of help to get Veeam up and running successfully."
"While the Veeam Backup Replication tool can mostly back up all the data in the environment, the AIX from IBM backup capabilities nowadays could stand improvement as they are not featured on a single pane of glass."

The functionalities are almost the same. Nakivo is available at a lower price.
If you don't need advanced storage integration there is no difference.
Nakivo offer almost the same functionality of Veeam at a lower price.
They have the same functionality except that Nakivo allows the backups to be immutable, thus, providing protection against malware (backups cannot be moved, deleted or changed) It has 1/3 of the price but sometimes there is a direct deal.
For me, Nakivo has all Veeam features and also supports Oracle RMAN backup.
Nakivo has a very flexible deployment compared with Veeam (it supports the deployment using Windows and SQL only). It can be installed on NAS, VA, and many more. Most of the things have a reasonable price.
