Has consistently supported integration across diverse environments and streamlined deployment processes
Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics could improve their pricing structure. They currently have two separate pricing tiers: full log and partial log. I suggest they implement a single price and reduce charges on logs. They could implement a cap with some free tier or price tier based on the GBs of log collected. This would help customers use Azure more effectively. Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics is an excellent product because it includes both SIEM and orchestration capabilities with playbooks, but the log management part is very costly. Regarding future improvements, I would appreciate more application connectors for integration, particularly for on-premise based solutions. Many customers still maintain on-premise infrastructure, so having more integration possibilities for these environments would be beneficial.

Areas of Oracle Big Data Appliance that can be improved include the pricing perspective because nowadays they have competition. We have so many technologies that have come to the market for less than even one-fourth or one-fifth of the Oracle price. For my side, the last time I worked with Oracle was in '21, '22. The price is a challenge that they have to look after. From the storage and data management perspective, I cannot recall anything that they have to improve, but they have to improve the visualization part significantly because they offer Oracle BI, which is an extremely not-matured application.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ability to scale out services on-demand and scale them down when they are not required is most valuable. You are in control of your expenditures, and you are also in control of the horsepower that you need. That's a major advantage."
"We haven't had any issues when it comes to customization."
"It's user-friendly and has a good dashboard."
"Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics will scale automatically behind the scenes, which is one of its main powerful features."
"The product works well with other Azure products."
"The solution is scalable."
"We can have the dedicated SQL up and running within 15 minutes."
"It's come a long way from where it started and it's great if you're looking to combine a lot of tools into one and you're running a smaller shop."
"This is a comprehensive solution that is easy to deploy."
"The best feature of Oracle Big Data Appliance, from a price perspective for the storage, is because they have technology called the ZFS technology; it offers huge storage with a decent price."
"Big Data responds to my needs."
"The most valuable feature is that it can be used in conjunction with Spark memory processing, and our processing time has gone to 20 minutes from what used to be two or three hours on the mainframe."
"Because Big Data Appliance allows me to have a single source of truth, it means I have clean data that can be monetized and leveraged to gain more insights with real-time reports from the dashboard."
"The best thing about the product is that the end-user can build the reports by themselves without really knowing anything about databases."
"We could work on large unstructured datasets from different parts of the world on Facebook and Twitter to get better insights."

Cons

"One potential area for improvement could be the availability of an on-premises data lake implementation, as the product is currently only implemented in a cloud environment."
"One area for improvement could be better integration with Power BI, as well as data integration with BW."
"If I'm looking for something good in the cloud, I would want it to have better standard connectors."
"This is a young product in transition to the cloud and it needs more work before it is both settled as a product and competitive in the market."
"It could be more stable."
"There are some limitations. The filing can be improved."
"Real-time integration is hard to do in Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics."
"The configuration for things like high-availability could be more user-friendly for non-technical users."
"We had to pursue several performance tuning measures to bring up the system to scale."
"We need to display the results on our website. I think there is another product that joins with it to give you the possibility."
"From a technical perspective, Big Data Appliance could be improved with more innovation in the AI and machine-learning parts instead of relying on Cloudera."
"It seems like the deployment of repositories has become more difficult in later versions of the product rather than easier."
"The product should be simplified for the average user."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is competitive, but only when you pay upfront. If you pay as you go, it's not as competitive. I'd give pricing a rating of seven out of ten."
"Because it's cloud the cost is a different convention and the licensing costs are not the same."
"I'm not sure of the exact cost, however, it is around $100,000 a year."
"The cost of the licensing depends on the size of the warehouse, where the cost of storage is approximately $130 USD per terabyte."
"Price varies by use-case. You pay for the database itself in addition to any consumed data within Serverless plus other fees if you use the Data Factory that is inside."
"We are on a monthly payment plan for the use of Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics."
"The cost of the solution depends on the type of license we choose, such as pay-as-you-go, one-year reserve, or three-year reserve."
"This is an expensive solution."
"Oracle's prices are too high compared to others in the market."
