Centralized endpoint management has improved patching, software deployment, and asset control
ManageEngine Endpoint Central is what I am personally working with and using, along with the Service Desk, which is another tool we use. We have been working with ManageEngine Endpoint Central for four years or more. The customizable packages in software deployment are very positive; you can apply different policies for the package that you are going to deploy. This is something we are still using and working with. ManageEngine has a very large portfolio of products. There is some functionality that is not managed from ManageEngine Endpoint Central, but you can find that functionality in another module of ManageEngine's portfolio.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's a complete product that allows you to remote troubleshoot, has an inventory of systems."
"Everything is easily centralized and managed under this one product."
"From a sys admin point of view, it now requires less effort and time to perform these administrative tasks."
"Patch management features are an important feature."
"What is great about the patch management solution, is that it patches OS, applications, browsers, plug-ins, and firmware updates."
"In terms of technical capability, it is doing very well, it is doing better than other industry products, it is at a place where we can compare it with Microsoft products, and its scalability is also good."
"The solution is stable."
"The centralized control of all of our Windows hardware that this solution offers has been most valuable to our organization."
"Afaria provides us with much greater control over this essential function, which is important from both a workflow and business perspective."
"The most valuable feature is that it supports all mobile platforms -- Android, iOS, etc."
"It helped our organization in securing our enterprise data on mobile devices."
"I would recommend this product for small and large scale projects to achieve greater results."
"SAP Support is excellent with their support of this product."
"Instead of publishing a web page with the link to the app, now we publish the apps via Afaria and we know who installed the app (software inventory component of Afaria)."
"After installation of the product, it is very easy to use; it's user friendly and the operation and performance is very high."
"In my previous implementation, we rolled out device management and security policies for 5000+ devices in a week's time."

Cons

"Often I had issues with user configurations."
"Not many things are needed for improvement, everything seems to be great as it is. One thing that would be good to have would be the ability to add MDM to a tablet running Android 5.0 using the EMM Token Enrollment. If we wanted to add MDM to an older tablet, we just have to go the "long route" to get it added."
"The solution is expensive."
"The reports provided by the product are an area of concern where improvements are required. The visibility provided by the reports is not very attractive."
"There are no dynamic changes on web pages and it's lacking visually."
"The patch management module could be simplified as it is currently a bit complicated."
"The stability of ManageEngine Desktop Central could improve. We have found that at times it can become a bit unstable."
"Technical support is not up to the mark. In my opinion, this is the area where they should look after more carefully."
"It needs compatibility with multiple platforms and databases."
"Parity of features/config settings across mobile platforms can be improved in the next release."
"Customers who have invested in failover and disaster recovery systems via Oracle DBs could not use Afaria on such a large scale deployment."
"SCEP-based authentication deployment for Android devices has great flaws."
"It should be one shot! But in the current state, you have to set-up at least five components, and if you have more than one server (we have one master plus four slaves and two relay servers) it means about 25 installations (about 100 next, OK, finish, cancel)."
"The installation is very complex and the price is very high compared to other MDM's."
"Improvement is required in term of nesting the groups and objects, we have faced difficulties in applying correct rules/policies."
"There were issues with Afaria not having as many features as MobileIron or AirWatch."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The initial purchase was around $6,000 or $7,000. We most probably are not on an annual subscription. We bought it, and then we pay for the maintenance. I'm not 100% sure how that's working out."
"Compared to other products, ManageEngine Endpoint Central is a very cheap solution."
"The price could be cheaper."
"Affordable for any customer."
"The solution is very affordable."
"I have been using the free version and am in the stage where I have to decide if I will proceed with the paid license, or instead choose another product."
"We pay about $250 a year for our license."
"The product is cheap."
