Provides a valuable concept of hyper-convergence, but its support services could be faster
The product’s most valuable feature is the concept of hyper-convergence Lenovo ThinkAgile MX Certified Node’s support services could be faster. We have been using Lenovo ThinkAgile MX Certified Node for four to five years. From the hardware perspective, it is a stable product. The product is…

Hyper-converged storage has improved performance and now supports high redundancy for our VMs
Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) was transparent because we were on a regular infrastructure before. We went on NCI and were able to improve performance, but it did not really change how things worked. The performance was really better for applications and access times to the data. I regularly looked at the analytics to see what was going on in my servers and what it was saying to optimize performance. It was pretty interesting because it could analyze and give insights on how to get things working better. In the latest versions, the Prism interface has been replaced by Prism Central. This requires another machine to be deployed to manage the servers.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product’s most valuable feature is the concept of hyper-convergence."
"To receive a performance enhancement by merely clicking the one button upgrade is the true value of the platform and what I look forward to the most."
"It is very good to have an on-premise cloud system, it works well."
"We have had good feedback from our customers about this solution."
"We increased stability and availability to 99.999%, and increased performance on our software platforms and databases drastically."
"Hyper-convergence makes the whole datacenter simpler; I don’t need to manage servers, SAN, and storage as I used to, but instead manage everything from one simple and complete dashboard."
"General observation, Nutanix documentation is very well written with an elegant font and format; very easy to read and understand."
"It is easy to use. One of the things they have as a design goal is to reduce complexity and simplify things."
"Data locality provides super-fast data access and ultra-low latency."

Cons

"Lenovo ThinkAgile MX Certified Node’s support services could be faster."
"Frankly speaking, there are some issues."
"The cost of the solution is too expensive."
"When we have issues with the solution, they tend to be around networking."
"There is a feature in Nutanix called fault tolerance that could be improved."
"In the next release, I would like better and more competitive pricing."
"In terms of the IT different categories, I would like for the governing sections to be able to use it in the IT department. If they can have something like a one view management portal or software similar to VMware that would be an added value."
"An area for improvement would be the cyber security features."
"It was complex, as we needed to move from a Xen environment to Acropolis. The migration process was not easy."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product has competitive pricing."
"The initial cost is affordable but the renewal fees are high."
"The basic license that comes with the box allows basic virtualization features but advanced automation features would require an upgrade of licenses."
"I would rate the price seven out of ten with ten being the most expensive."
"It's a cost-effective solution"
"It is not cheap, but if you look at the return on investment and the total cost of ownership, it is worth the price."
"It is slightly more expensive compared to a standard, on-prem, bare-metal configuration. There is about a 30 percent overhead there."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure's core licensing needs to have an upper limit since processors are coming out with incredible numbers of cores on them."
"There are a lot of features included with Nutanix that cost a lot with other companies."
