Integration capabilities excel and support for varied platforms enhances communication across backend systems
We mainly use REST APIs, and the solution's integration capabilities are excellent. It allows communication with a number of back-end providers and data consolidation. The flexibility to develop APIs for various platforms, from front-end applications to ATM machines, is valuable. Code changes and migration are straightforward, and it supports identity and access management integration.

Regarding how SAP Integration Suite can be improved, we have something called pre-packaged content, such as standard flows or inbuilt adapters. If we had something called Groovy script for most of the scenarios, it would be very useful. We have some standard scripts for the basic scenarios, such as payload logging, that are frequently usable. For such things, if we had the pre-built scripts, it would be very easy for the developers to reuse them in very common scenarios or requirements and make the work very fast. That would be really helpful for the developers. Regarding additional features for SAP Integration Suite, I think it is good as of now and nothing much needs to be improved because we can see all the expected features. We have the open connectors, cloud connectors, API management, and everything is there. We have the Integration Advisor, and I feel it is good. The only thing I was expecting is pre-built scripts, Groovy scripts, which would be helpful for the developers to speed up the work. Since coding is not manual and we are getting it from ChatGPT and it is all AI, if that is integrated into the tool, it would be very nice and easy for the developers.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Because of the efficiency of the product actually doing that, pulling data from disparate sources, and integrating it into the response format that I want, that my customer demands, that's so easy."
"In my opinion, CA API Gateway in that security space is very ideal and it's one of the best out there."
"API Enhanced Portal 4.1 looks very promising. API Gateway policy manager for writing policies is excellent. It is the best in the industry for policy writing."
"We are very happy with the solution."
"The best features of CA API Management are high quality and high reliability."
"We have been able to accelerate our clients’ transition to digital organizations by using the CA API Gateway to rapidly expose legacy business services as RESTful APIs, adding industry-leading security to the APIs, and providing a Developer Portal that provides governance, control, visibility, and organization of the entire API stack."
"As the APIs are built and published and made available to developers, we can build applications on top of those APIs in days and weeks as opposed to months."
"With it, we provided an enterprise solution for authentication and authorisation for all internal and external application in a quick and efficient manner using existing SOAP and REST services."
"The features in SAP Integration Suite, such as the API management and the feasibility to connect with the on-premise systems using the Cloud Connector configuration in BTP Cockpit, are very flexible to work with."
"The solution is easy to use."
"The most beneficial feature of SAP Integration Suite for our operation is its capability to enable API-based cloud applications to integrate seamlessly with SAP S/4HANA."
"The technical support services are good."
"The SAP Integration Suite can work with different authentication methods. It supports physical authentication, certificate-based integration, and mTLS authentication. This allows customers to choose the best integration approach based on their policies and procedures. Additionally, the suite offers both push and data integration capabilities."
"SAP Integration Suite's event-driven architecture has helped automate processes by providing better scalability, performance, and organization compared to point-to-point methods."
"The most beneficial feature for our clients is the easy access to their information, achieved effortlessly through integration."

Cons

"Layer7 API Management could improve by assing more portal-based capabilities."
"Some of the things that we see as room of improvement are how do you integrate with other systems out there."
"It is not possible for clients to migrate to a newer version."
"In terms of what could be improved, I think they do not have a good enough knowledge base on setting up the API Management Layer, especially on Azure using containers."
"The support that is available is only for technical issues, they are not able to help you with your use case."
"CA can provide more features to help with performing tests, for example, to create a month of simulated data to perform stress tests using the CA."
"The Portal lacks maturity. Since the move from Portal 3.x to 4.x, a lot of features were removed."
"The portal is not the most intuitive and the way things are displayed makes it difficult to find the information we need."
"I believe there are areas where SAP Integration Suite could be improved, such as enhancing message transformation capabilities and simplifying conditional routing features compared to the on-premise tool SAP PO (Process Orchestration)."
"I have faced a few issues with the CPI Helper, which is an extension I was using to enable the trace and check the step-by-step flow and simulation inputs and outputs."
"The product's UI could be faster."
"They could provide graphical data for over-viewing metrics such as payments, receipts, creditors, and refunds."
"The setup process for the SAP integration Suite is not straightforward. It involves some technical aspects and can be complex."
"In PIPO, there were complex and effective tools to measure performance and how messages were processed, but Integration Suite still does not have solid reports that are useful for evaluating and understanding possible bottlenecks."
"The instances are costly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Keep in mind the non-product licensing, e.g., if you opt not to use the embedded SQL."
"I do not have experience with the pricing or licensing of the product."
"Licenses are required to operate the product, but I don't know much about the validity periods attached to it."
"There are some costs for maintenance that we are charged, but that seems fair because we get the support."
"Pricing is competitive. CA is ready to offer attractive discounts."
"There is an annual license for the use of this solution. I think we are paying for some support maintenance fees, included in that license. I don't know how it works. They should provide more information."
"It is a pricey product, although not extremely overpriced compared to competitors in the market."
"Be aware of additional licenses for your warm standby. Ensure you get plenty of non-production licenses."
"I'm not well-versed in the details of pricing and standard licensing for SAP Integration Suite as I primarily focus on technical aspects. As far as I know, clients can choose between different levels of offerings based on their messaging frequency and business requirements, with premium levels offering more features and customization options."
"It is inexpensive for smaller businesses and expensive for larger businesses."
"I rate its pricing a five out of ten."
