Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Continuous protection has improved automated threat response and reporting for our endpoints
We did work with one of our clients who required mobile security solutions. In my opinion, Trend Micro, when we went through the POCs and other components, we did not find it very strong as far as mobile security is concerned. I think Kaspersky is much better than Trend Micro when it comes to mobile security solutions. From an outside perspective, Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum looks pretty strong and comprehensive. The main improvement would be if they could decrease the cost, as it would be great for clients since it is quite expensive now compared to when it used to be cheaper. The key competitor for Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum is Trend Micro. Trend Micro is the only competitor in the market right now. I would say both Trend Micro Endpoint Detection and Response and Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum are quite similar; I cannot say that one is better than the other. The difference is mainly in cost; Trend Micro has mostly moved all their products to the cloud, offering no on-premises products now, whereas Kaspersky is still in a transition phase providing both on-premises and cloud solutions. Many clients prefer on-premises as it is less expensive compared to cloud.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"When the pandemic started, Palo Alto came up with many solutions, which helped with the quick shift from on-premises to the cloud."
"We can visualize and control the activities in the environment from anywhere."
"The most valuable feature is that you can select remote access of any machine for sandboxing."
"My advice for others looking into using Cortex is that it is very easy to use and very useful for the customer environment, whether it's a public or private one."
"What I like about Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is that it is a comprehensive solution that contains everything the organization may need when using endpoints."
"Automation and playbooks have helped me significantly, as Cortex Xnor's playbooks predefine the workflow of the automation, such as response processes, alert triggering, and enriching the context, efficiently detecting and blocking malicious attacks with firewalls while eliminating workload and speeding responses for next-generation operations."
"We have found in our test Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks to be a very good tool."
"This software helps us understand any issues that may arise when someone is not at work."
"EDR Optimum's best features are its dashboard, control of external media, and user-friendliness."
"Since the deployment of the solutions, the organization has been proactive in its IT operations and has tackled quite a few critical scenarios since the solution has been operational."
"The most beneficial aspect of Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum is its protection capabilities, followed by its device management capabilities. The ability to remotely install software is highly advantageous, making it a convenient and helpful feature."
"What we like most about Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum is its prompt response, and we also like that it does scans on a daily basis over every laptop or machine we set it for, and it also generates the report daily."
"The encryption feature that allows you complete control of your device is what I found most valuable in Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum."
"One of the most valuable features of Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum is its cloud console allows users to remotely isolate a single computer from a network in the event of an attack, enabling them to perform root cause analysis without disrupting the entire network. This is particularly useful for organizations that may not have expert resources for endpoint detection and response."
"The most valuable features are checking the Kaspersky portal and integrating it with SIEM Elastic Stack and ELK Stack for log monitoring."
"Overall, I would rate Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum an eight out of ten."
"It monitors traffic and keeps us from getting ransomware or other viruses."
"The traffic security monitoring, traffic application access feature called the agent, the main feature which is the endpoint security feature are the ones I found valuable. And it also had the in branch security in kind of SD WAN, good three hundred and sixty protection. It is specific and there is ease of deployment also present."
"The solution is very light, works well on our PCs, the dashboard is very good, and we find the pricing to be very affordable."
"Customer Service: Top-of-the-line; the busy community as well. Technical Support: Top-of-the-line; the busy community as well."
"The most valuable features of the solution include the endpoint navigation protection, the protection related to the EMS service, as well as the control and the cloud integration capabilities."
"It is pretty unintrusive. It doesn't take over the system like McAfee or Norton. It doesn't use a whole lot of resources. McAfee and Norton use a lot of resources."
"Webroot pioneered integration of novel concepts in endpoint protection."
"Previously, we used a mix of Trend/Sophos/Symantec. Webroot has all their best bits combined into one solution."

Cons

"I don't like that they have different types of licenses. For example, if users select a license, they think they will have all the platforms they need to improve their network or security. But after some time, Palo Alto Networks changed their licensing, and some of the features that, for example, were free at the beginning now have a cost. I think the integration can be improved. For example, a lot of tools are just integrated through APIs."
"Based on our experience so far, its implementation is quite complex."
"The GUI could be improved. It's a little bit cumbersome. It could be more user-friendly."
"For Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks, if I had to point out improvements, I would say the UI is still somewhat difficult for beginners."
"There's an overall lack of features."
"It tends to do 99.9% of things. The only thing I'd like is single sign-on authentication into their cloud platform so that my users can be properly authenticated against it."
"The product's pricing needs improvement. They could provide more discounts. Additionally, the dashboard and control panel could be enhanced."
"They are charging for Network Traffic Analyzer (NTA) services, so if the per GB data could be provided at a certain level free of cost or at the same cost which the customer is taking for the entire bundle, that would be better."
"The application should be made a bit lighter so that it does not slow down the PC."
"The support of Kaspersky rates a five out of ten. The response time is not very fast, and many times the answers are not very precise."
"I want the tool’s pricing to improve."
"Occasionally, I encounter connection problems, and the signal is not very good."
"We would like more data to be available from this solution, in order for it to be usable in strategic decision making."
"They should provide more notifications for incidents and more clarification or information about malicious activity."
"The solution can improve the uninstallation process. The removal of the agent can be difficult. The purpose is for security, but it requires a lot of time and sometimes a special tool."
"The technology grows day by day, so we need to check for updates and do the updates daily. Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum is still improving over time and quality-wise, there are still things that need to be changed in the product, so that's why I rated it nine out of ten. Compatibility could also be improved in the product."
"We were attacked by CryptoLock. It didn't protect us in the way we needed to and an attack was able to get through their defenses."
"An updated UI would be nice, but is not hardly used."
"Its detection capability for certain attacks should be improved. It should have better and wider detection for certain malware attacks. It could also have some sort of RMN."
"It doesn't do anything proactive. The virus has to hit the machine before it detects it."
"Tech support needs to be improved. If we have an issue, and we don't have an issue very often, trying to get support's attention is a really difficult endeavor."
"We need to have a stronger defense against CryptoLock and other attackers."
"The platform is mostly stable, however there are hiccups with the cloud from time-to-time that impact the ability to get to the portal."
"Webroot Business Endpoint Protection needs to focus on how they can widen their area of scope by not just being an antivirus tool anymore. The shortcoming in the customization area of the tool needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I feel it is fairly priced."
"The solution has one subscription for endpoint protection and one subscription for detection and response. The two licenses combined give you the BRO version."
"Cortex XDR's pricing is ok."
"The price of the solution could be reduced. I have customers that have voiced that the solution is good for the value but if I want to sell more of the solution the price reduction would help."
"I don't like that they have different types of licenses."
"The price is on the higher side, but it's okay."
"It's about $55 per license on a yearly basis."
"The cost of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is $55 to $90 USD per endpoint per month."
"The price of the solution is reasonable. It cost approximately €10,000 annually."
"Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response Optimum is affordability, even for companies with limited budgets, such as those in the Pakistani market. It is a subscription-based license."
"The pricing is totally reasonable."
"Kaspersky gives a consolidated price with a good solution. If we choose something else, we need to add other options on our own."
"The price is good, not too high."
"I would rate the product's pricing a nine out of ten. You need to pay about 80,000 rupees yearly for the tool. There are no additional costs associated with the product."
"The solution could be made a bit cheaper."
"The tool’s pricing is yearly. The solution’s pricing is expensive."
"We are on an annual subscription for the use of Webroot Business Endpoint Protection."
"The solution is pretty cheap, actually. At our level, which is at 2,500 endpoints, we're paying 87 cents an agent per month."
"Webroot is less expensive than SentinelOne."
"The solution is very cost-effective."
"Get a trial, then a multi-year license."
