Efficient documentation generation through organized model structure with a good price-performance ratio
Whenever I begin a new project with Sparx, I have to spend time training people on how to use it since it is not straightforward. Although it's a powerful product with plenty of features, it's not easy for even experienced users to find their way without guidance. This is not the most user-friendly solution.

We have seen return on investment in the form of time savings but should have more design tools
I am generally using Visio to create some diagrams Visio should implement more complex tools or graphics to facilitate processing and use flexible templates. It should allow users to easily drag and drop some previously created diagrams. The tools supplied or provided are very basic, and there…

"The solution is easily modified to suit your needs."
"The most valuable features of iServer are the integration with Microsoft Office and the interface is similar to Microsoft applications making them easy to use."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The solution has wide use within Microsoft products. The integration with Microsoft products, and, in particular, Microsoft Office, is great."
"The product has a valuable customized model."
"Integrating the Microsoft documents to the product and visualization matrix where we can see the end-to-end relationship of the network is of great importance to our company."
"iServer has valuable features for workflow and document management."
"We have found the stability to be very reliable."
"We could capture the process models around 24 countries with all their local variations."
"Its ease of use and the breadth of the toolkit are most valuable. It has an incredible repository of artifacts to work with, and they're all cross-referenced. It works with a whole bunch of different standards. It works with BPMN, which is Business Process Modeling Notation, and it also works with something called TOGAF, which is the Open Group Architecture Foundation. There are different layers when you're dealing with architecture. There is the user interface, application, data, data servers, and all that kind of stuff. You have the infrastructure, hardware, and software layers, and then you have the application and business capability layers. You can model a business process and decompose it into all of the applications, data, and hardware to support it."
"The initial setup is easy."
"It's a stable and scalable solution. I like that it's similar to Rational Rose."
"Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect supports multiple modeling languages like ArchiMate for database design, software lifecycle visualization, and team management."
"Ability to keep inventory of reusable blocks, and use in different diagrams with views of various templates."
"The installation was very easy."
"Simple to use and very intuitive."
"The task sequencing, the process level views, and the ability to communicate between lanes are valuable features in Visio."
"I haven't needed to reach out to technical support the entire time I've used the product. It's very basic and very simple, and therefore I've never run into any issues I haven't been able to deal with personally."
"The product provides a lot of flexibility in writing graphs and customizing them."
"It's my understanding that the initial setup is straightforward."
"The usability in general is good. The integration of uploading custom stencils is also very nice."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"The interface is the most valuable aspect of this solution."

Cons

"It definitely needs help to improve the visual aspect of the solution."
"The performance is slow, which is something that should be improved."
"iServer is a solid tool. Occasionally, we needed to contact the vendor to clarify details such as porting issues, missing components, and model specifics."
"iServer should invest in enhancing the capabilities of the embedded drawing tool, draw.io."
"Requirements management needs to be improved."
"There can be some performance issues using the solution that should be improved. When you make modifications modify to files there are embedded data within that can take a while to process."
"There could be features for process mining, process simulation, and analytics."
"The modelling needs improvement, specifically forecasting capabilities and scenarios."
"When many users are accessing the system at the same time, Sparx slows down. It can't easily support a large team."
"The product could be improved in terms of its ease of use and documentation. While it offers a lot of functionality, it can be difficult to grasp how to utilize these features effectively."
"The reporting needs improvement."
"The presentation graphics need to be improved in future builds."
"The modeling tool is targeted toward a sophisticated user."
"Weak in regards to data modelling. No logical or physical modelling or migration from conceptual to physical."
"What should be improved are the integration capabilities of the solution with Bizagi."
"I think the product is good. When I'm trying to do something specific for some part of project documentation, it's hard to get it figured out if you don't use it all the time. It's such a massive tool, it's hard to figure out how to dig in and get to the documentation where you have to be to get some idea of what to do. There are not a lot of examples that I'm aware of to be able to do that."
"The solution should have better integration capabilities with MacOS and Linux."
"Visio should implement more complex tools or graphics to facilitate processing and use flexible templates."
"It's a very large install that uses many gigabytes."
"There should be more items available from a variety of other products that can be integrated."
"The auto-routing feature could be better."
"Visio could be improved by adding more features. If you look at draw.io, they have more features. Also, if you want to design something for the cloud, Microsoft Azure still isn't enabled, so you need to install the plugin. This prototype is easily available, though."
"If you look at ARIS, for example, or Signavio, the flowchart combines all the details and with the click of a button I can create a process manager. That would be something that Visio could add. It would cut my workload in half."
"There are too many features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product has a moderate pricing."
"They offer annual subscriptions for developing countries, which are not affordable for small or medium businesses."
"It's about 13K to set up and 9K for the license for three months. I think it's about 20K a year, but we haven't firmed up on pricing yet because the price depends on how long we commit to the solution."
"The price of iServer is reasonable compared to other solutions."
"The solution is cheaper than its competitors."
"Aim for the exact number of people who shall define/review approve and view the processes, as it will impact the cost."
"It's affordable. The only additional cost that we haven't yet figured out is the floating license. If you buy a floating license, you have to have a license management server, which comes at an additional cost that's not discussed. So, we haven't yet used the floating license. That’s because I haven't had a chance to figure that out."
"It is cheap."
"It is cheaper than other solutions. Its cost is around $686 per year. There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"We paid 1200 euros as a once-off cost. All add ons and integrations come at an additional cost."
"This product has a paid license, with a yearly subscription option."
"Pricing and licensing are suitable even for small companies."
"We have an annual license, and it's very affordable."
"The licensing is not as expensive as some of the other data modeling tools such as Erwin."
"The product is inexpensive if you already have Microsoft products in your environment. The license encompasses all the required services."
"My company does pay toward the licensing costs of Visio. It is a cheap product based on my experience, and since I purchased Visio for my own use."
"The pricing of Visio is much better. It has a free version of the cheapest functionality which is enough for us."
"The price of Visio is reasonable."
"My organization has paid for the solution. However, I have used it personally without payment. There is a free option available."
"We're in a Visio plan that is like $15 a month per user. At the moment, it is just the standard licensing fees that I'm aware of."
"I know you can pick it up in retail for under a thousand per person. You can also pick it up for cheaper than that. Microsoft has about 7,000 licensing models, and you get certain percentages off specific licensing. If you're a partner, you get specific numbers of licenses with the partnership price."
"The licensing process is actually a breeze. Simply buy the license and download it from Microsoft, enter the license key in Visio to activate the software, and you're done."
