Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature for me is the policy management capabilities"
"The flexible ways you can get to the data and the options that it gives you for backing up your valuable data are what make its offsite storage so valuable."
"Instant Recovery is an amazing feature which reduces the recovery time from hours or sometimes from days to minutes."
"As of now, we have never had any issues with Veeam, it has performed perfectly, and it's a very mature product."
"The solution is very easy to deploy."
"Improved virtual infrastructures backup and recovery."
"This solution is very stable and reliable."
"If a server goes down, we are able to dig into a backup from a previous point in time and recover it within minutes."
"If you have a VMware or Hyper-V environment, then Veeam is the most mature and solid product in its class today."
"I cannot speak highly enough of this product."

Cons

"Basically, the only thing I do not like about it, it was keyed off Lotus Notes."
"I would like to see more integration with different platforms."
"For me, I have trouble with large VMDK files (multi TB) regardless of where I place the proxy and while there are several others who have similar results, Veeam hasn’t seemed to find a solution for this yet."
"The patching can be quite difficult at times."
"It needs to support more applications."
"The product must provide better security."
"We had issues with the technical support. We had a very good response for some incidents and a very bad one for other incidents."
"They have an integration with MS SQL, and you have to license MS SQL. This is something they need to change. They should go for an open-source database or a free SQL because you're already buying this product, and you shouldn't have to buy another product."
"There are certain solutions, such as Rubrik and Cohesity, that are little by little, taking market share. Veeam needs to be more aggressive to keep their dominance in the space."
"Sometimes logging the information from the product does not give you the information needed to troubleshoot a problem, and that could be an issue for you because you have no tools to get that information."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The licensing fee depends on the licensing model we choose."
"The pricing depends on the number of clients. We pay 10,00 USD per year. On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the pricing an eight out of ten."
"Since our Veeam license is perpetual, we only pay for annual maintenance."
"Compared to other enterprise solutions, Veeam Backup & Replication generally offers a competitive price point. However, there has been a noticeable and concerning increase in pricing, particularly in the year 2023. The rate of price hikes has been significant, with prices escalating three times during the first quarter of the year. This trend indicates a substantial shift in the pricing structure, which may have implications for customers and their budgeting considerations."
"I have not used the resale license in our testing environments. Sometimes, our customers used the trial license for 30 days and so on."
"Veeam Backup Replication has a lot of free features. We have a mixture of the paid versions as well as the community version. They are really helpful to us."
"They have a free edition that can back up up to 10 VMs or physical servers. Small and medium businesses can use this edition until they can afford to get a license, and after they get a license, they just activate it on the same console. That's the amazing thing about it."
"The price is slightly higher than its competitors."
