Has struggled to detect major threats but has offered basic protection over time
Intercept X Endpoint could learn from CrowdStrike in terms of overall performance and filtering because performance is most important, especially these days as Windows is getting buggier and buggier, which puts a huge load on the PC, and even with the most advanced CPUs and everything in place, it still lags in performance in so many places, thanks to Windows' clumsy design of these collaboration suites that make it extremely heavy on PC's resources. The interface of Intercept X Endpoint is quite old-fashioned. The Sophos interfaces, including for Intercept X Endpoint, are quite bad actually; to be very honest, even in UTM boxes, they are not great at all. You can hardly see a very small portion of windows while it's creating the firewall rules, and we have been complaining about this for quite some time, but there hasn't been any improvement on those grounds. Intercept X Endpoint's anti-ransomware capabilities failed us during a bad attack, and just because of our own backup policies, we could restore our normal operations; otherwise, if we had to depend on this solution, we would have been long dead because the infection was so bad, it couldn't even detect the infection. Intercept X Endpoint cannot handle zero-day attacks; in my experience, last year, we had this major issue with a malware attack, and it happened just because of our backup policies that we were able to recover without any support from Sophos, which just told us they would charge us some 1 Crore in rupees. Intercept X Endpoint should improve their implementation; things will never be perfect for the new world. This new world is always facing new kinds of attacks and new ways to compromise the system. They need to learn fast, implement fast, and sometimes redesigning the solution is the solution—not just patchwork. There was a time we used to love Sophos because of its fresh design and innovative thought. In my experience, when technical companies are led by MBA professionals, they lose their shine on the technical part and become more dependent on target sales; it turns into a marketing-centric operation that loses the technical focus completely.

I am struggling to export all alerts, such as those from the past five to six months, at once. I would like to extract these alerts in Excel format in one go, but I have not found this feature yet. I raised a ticket to the OEM, but I have not received a solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We find the app control and its threat protection to be the best features."
"Machine learning is used to detect the threat and it does so by prioritizing the suspicious activities."
"The solution is overall quite good, the services are performing well, and it is very good for those who are using standard PC configurations because it does not block their system by taking up a lot of resources."
"The malware detection is the key feature."
"Anti-virus captures malicious threats and an aggressive next generation firewall."
"The most valuable feature of Intercept X its ability to stay ahead of the infection. By the time the ransomware spreads to the next machine in line, the data has already been encrypted on that workstation. It didn't matter what the ransomware did because could go in and get it back."
"We use Intercept X Advanced along with Sophos EDR (Enhanced Data Detection and Response) for our servers and clients as advanced protection, and it is not just a simple virus scanning product."
"The stability of the solution is pretty good, we've never had issues with instability and it's reliable without bugs, glitches, crashes, or freezes."
"The features are such that MDR is a part of XDR, which includes different products."
"The most valuable feature of Trend Micro Managed XDR is that it protects all of the layers."
"The response time to any issues is very quick, providing a high level of client satisfaction."
"Trend Micro Managed XDR can be used to manage all the layers, such as server, access, cloud servers, and email layer, and it is used for overall endpoint security."
"Trend Micro Managed XDR has indeed enhanced our customers' threat detection capabilities. Many of our clients are utilizing it and have experienced positive outcomes. Overall, I would recommend it, especially considering the rising popularity of Trend Micro and its excellent product support."
"The initial setup is very straightforward. CIOs appreciate the ease of installation, server configuration, and the user-friendly dashboard."
"I appreciate the detection and response methodology used against virus and ransomware attacks."
"The most valuable feature of Trend Micro Managed XDR is the console."

Cons

"The tool is not stable on Linux systems."
"The after sales service and support could be improved, particularly on the technical side."
"When we load Intercept X, it puts a load on the device. When it is scanning, it slows down the device. A system with basic specifications completely slows down till the scan is complete. They should improve this part."
"The customer service and support could be improved in regards to response time. It could be faster."
"From the management side, we receive detailed information. Sophos has many features, such as Threat Hunting but that comes with the XDR version of the solution."
"The Data Loss Prevention module can be better. It should also have threat hunting capabilities."
"We would like more application control in order to be able to schedule times and access."
"They should work on the logs and events. Sophos Intercept X needs to increase the interface test so that it can export to a live event."
"The main drawback is the lack of local language support in Oman."
"Trend Micro Managed XDR could improve its support documents."
"The product could benefit from some improvements in its interface and organization. Functionality-wise, it performs well, but there's room for enhancement in terms of user-friendliness. There are ample resources like documents and videos provided by most vendors to assist users, although reaching out for direct support might not always be straightforward."
"I am struggling to export all alerts, such as those from the past five to six months, at once. I would like to extract these alerts in Excel format in one go, but I have not found this feature yet."
"Trend Micro Managed XDR could improve its support documents. This would allow us to explore the solution better and provide a better presentation to our customers. Addiontaally, there could be more automation features."
"On the financial side, it is quite expensive."
"Being cost-effective is crucial, allowing customers with lower budgets to access the services. Offering a range of services at various price points ensures that customers can find suitable options without being compelled to explore alternative products or vendors."
"There is a need for greater integration of non-Microsoft devices."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is pretty good."
"While I do not have much experience dealing with the price, we have been entitled to a substantial discount on the solution in our use of it as an educational tool."
"You can pay monthly, but most of our customers choose annual subscriptions because they are less expensive."
"As I am not responsible for paying the bills I cannot comment on the pricing."
"Its price depends on the scenario. It is very expensive, but it is not more expensive than other vendors. The price of Check Point and other vendors is much higher than Sophos."
"We were able to eliminate the ransomware using the one-month, full-featured trial license."
"It is a high-cost solution."
"You are able to purchase more licenses for the number of devices or servers that you require. There are many other features available but our license does not include them, such as XDR, which is endpoint detection and response. We have not explored the new features as of yet but plan to in the coming future."
"I rate the tool's pricing a six out of ten."
"The solution's pricing falls within a reasonable range—it's not the most expensive option out there, nor the cheapest."
"There is a subscription needed to use Trend Micro Managed XDR. We are on an annual license."
"The solution is cost-effective."
"Trend Micro's solutions are considerably more expensive than competitors."
