Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

The tool needs to improve in the areas of security, though it is a versatile product
Inflectra Rapise needs to expand its ability. I spoke with Inflectra's executive account rep on the need to expand the tool's ability. The problem with Inflectra Rapise is that a lot of companies are still using SAP GUI. Inflectra has no intention of building Rapise in a way that allows it to interact with SAP GUI. Inflectra Rapise has very limited value for the companies I work with because they they still use SAP GUI since their top priority is SAP testing, and they want to get into automation, for which they need a tool that cannot only used to automate processes, but can also do end-to-end testing where you are not only using SAP GUI, but you are using the interface with old legacy systems that are still in use or with today's more modern technologies. In the future, the tool needs to increase its versatility. If I am at a company that uses 23 different technologies, like .NET Visual Basic, Oracle, SQL, or whatever, Inflectra Rapise needs to be made as a product that is an out-of-the-box usable tool for any technology.

Significantly reduces manual effort and improves team workflows through automated ticketing
We've used Agent Builder, IXP, and Maestro for orchestration. We have created context-grounded searches or chatbots using context grounding, and we also use context grounding within an Agentic flow where a bot or agent reads ServiceNow tickets to determine whether it has been assigned to the right work group. If it has not been assigned correctly due to human error, it automatically reassigns it to the right group. I would assess Agentic AI's ability to extract data points as effective. We created an agent for the purpose of extracting data, though not in a document. We created what we call an email conversation agent that engages with a customer, vendor, or someone in an email conversation with a set goal of extracting specific data points for an action to be performed subsequently. The one automation we have deployed in production involves the agent interacting with team members to collect data points and create a ServiceNow ticket. We appreciate almost all features of UiPath Platform, with one of the most successful ones being the use of Coms Mining. Most of the new features related to AI have all been good, and we use Agentic. We have already created a few agents and have started to use Maestro for a few flows, though we are not yet there to orchestrate an end-to-end workflow. We have good ROI from the automations we have developed with UiPath Platform, which far exceeds the investment in the platform. It has saved us tens of thousands of hours in manual effort, making the team members happy to pursue other things of value.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The control room is the best part as everything can be seen and controlled from there, scheduling storing of credentials, and much more. I have used PDF extraction and other tools where data needs to be extracted and it works great at that part. I highly recommended this tool for automation."
"At run time, Automation Anywhere can let you know which line of code the bot is running and what it is doing. It is very clear."
"Automation Anywhere is fully configurable."
"It is a great product."
"It is very easy to use and learn compared to a programming language, where you have to have a background in coding. Anyone can learn it. Learning the software is easy."
"Document automation has been phenomenal."
"The deployment was good."
"The most valuable feature is the user-friendly interface."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its versatility."
"The initial setup was straightforward; it wasn't complex at all, and we found it nice and easy."
"Rapise is a good automation tool that's easy to use and learn, and you can share scripts as a team, which is very helpful."
"It's pretty straightforward to set up."
"The first time I used Rapise I completed the automation scripts for a full application in a day and I was shocked how easy it was."
"We always use the product for end-to-end automation test cases."
"The scripting of this tool is easy and user friendly."
"We saved thousands of dollars because the Rapise implementation gave us 30 or more executions for every release compared to three or four, so huge savings on manual testing effort plus easy detection of defects is very cost effective."
"The UiPath community has been great. There are a lot of great mentorships, a lot of forums, and a lot of people who are very interested in growing the community. It's been very nice to work with them. Anybody who is in UiPath has been an amazing partner for us."
"I have used the UiPath Academy courses. I'm a certified developer. I didn't know UiPath at all. I went through the Academy and trained myself. When I brought in new developers, I had them do modules and I sometimes go visit them. From the user's perspective, people are happy that they don't have to do certain tasks that they didn't like to do. I only have one of those bots where I have a group of people that prefer the way they've always been doing tasks, but that's more of an organizational thing. I'm seeing across the enterprise with other folks that they're very happy to have this. They are putting more use cases in, and the frontline workers are bringing in use cases. Of course, we need to vet a lot of those so that we get enough bang for the buck, but we're finding a lot of adoption across, up, and down the whole scale so far."
"We were able to automate processes that use different systems with only one tool, and this approach has decreased the time of development and increased profit."
"Building automation using the solution is easy."
"UiPath has reduced human error by 20%."
"Using UiPath saved me about 10 to 12 hours on a weekly basis, allowed me to delegate mundane tasks to personal automations and focus on more important work, and even meant we did not have to hire a person dedicated to those tasks, helping save costs and improving business operations."
"As a firm, we saved over 2 million dollars a year now from using RPA."
"UiPath is easy to use without any training. Anyone can use it. There is also great customer support."

Cons

"Automation Anywhere is unable to connect to the database directly."
"PDF extraction and cognitive automation need improvement."
"The solution could improve the integration with some web applications. It was difficult to manage them."
"The Recorder action in the A2019 Community edition is not supported."
"Automation Anywhere is one of the least stable RPA tools out of the top five RPA solutions."
"We've struggled with some of the new features Automation Anywhere added in the latest version. For example, they added a new OpenAI package, but it took a while for me to find it in the actions menu."
"The IQ Bot has not yet succeeded in living up to its reputation due to its high cost, low ROI, and its inability to meet client requirements."
"Queues are great but need improvement. They are helpful because most of the automations are transaction-based."
"The maintenance is very difficult."
"When there are failures in a nightly run of batches of scripts, it can create a blocking situation where all the following scripts will fail due to unexpected results."
"It would be good if there could be more integration of Inflectra Rapise, since not all customers use the same tool for test management and automation integration."
"It has some stability issues where the tool crashes sometimes on Windows 10."
"Inflectra Rapise needs to expand its ability."
"The maintenance is very difficult. We've only been using the platform for three months, so I'm not sure if that will continue, but right now it's an observation I've had."
"I faced one problem where it can't validate the colour of images and text. Also, it could not automate the mobile app, and this needs to be included."
"What I have noticed about Rapise is that sometimes when you keep on using the same script, it fails many times."
"There is some room for improvement in the area of error handling. I had to create a custom approach to error handling. If there were some sort of activity or workflow that could be easily dropped in to help support that, it would be good. Error handling and logging, as well as process logging would be a big help."
"One of my biggest frustrations with UiPath is that they're constantly changing the underlying technology and adding features, so you're not always in a stable state. You're looking at the next shiny thing, and that distracts us from our initiative. Because we work with the government, we must go through the security assessment process each time they change something. We have to pay the costs associated with reviewing their infrastructure."
"I like the classic experience for developing, and as a developer, I am used to it, but they are going to the modern experience with selectors and other things. It might have certain advantages, but I do not like it."
"Many of the features that UiPath has are good, although better documentation is required for them."
"The testing time and process were somewhat challenging. While deployment was straightforward and easy, the testing part, particularly testing the functional use case, was difficult."
"The cost of licensing and using UiPath Platform is a primary area for improvement, particularly for small businesses."
"In the next release of this solution, I would like to see better scheduling options."
"The Academy classes could be improved. There should be a portal for use cases. There should be more business examples."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We're paying a monthly subscription fee for the bot and for services. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"Automation Anywhere is costlier than the general competition. That is aligned with the share of the market it has."
"Our annual licensing costs are about $500,000."
"The cost is at the highest end of the spectrum."
"It is expensive. Automation Anywhere has reduced the price slightly, as we have grown. However, the price is still excessive enough that we are engaged in PoCs on other tools."
"I don't know exactly what the pricing schemes are for the product as this type of negotiation is not my responsibility, but I think the basic pricing comes to $15,000."
"It's a bit expensive compared to other RPA tools on the market."
"The pricing and licensing are definitely moderate to costly but easily recoverable by achieving ROI quickly."
"I rate the product's price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where ten means very good pricing."
"We pay no more than $50 annually for support of each one of the licenses."
"The price of UiPath is not too expensive or too cheap. It's in between."
"The licensing fees for this solution are $8,000 USD annually."
"The best thing is that the UiPath Software is available as a Community Edition that is free and sufficient for personal use or small business."
"I do not know the specifics within my role, but from what I do know, everything has been very fair. Especially with the licensing that we have for our team, we have been able to accommodate everybody on our team with the roles and access that they require. So far, so good."
"The licensing cost is high."
"The pricing is transparent, and the best part is that they have the Community version, so there isn't anything to hide. You can try the cloud version. They offer plenty of time, two months, for a trial."
"Its price could be better. They should reduce its price. The insights module, process mining, document understanding, and other modules should come as one package because when you buy a module, it usually is not enough for a project, and then you have to buy another module. They might already have bundled these. I have not checked it recently."
"UiPath is slightly more expensive than Automation Anywhere and Microsoft Power Automate."
