Pros
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."

"There's a module called Icinga Director, which helps us configure the product using an intuitive interface through clicks instead of creating a text configuration. It's very helpful for us.""An affordable solution for small organizations to do basic network monitoring.""It is really easy in Icinga to create your own plugin and integrate it without any fuss. And it works just perfectly fine.""The apply rules feature saves a lot of time.""Icinga does the job and is fairly stable.""Macros and the ability to connect it to Google Maps are valuable features.""Icinga has multiple automation and integration features. There is an API for everything and a web UI for configurations. The APIs enable you to automate tasks in Icinga. We can also use plugins to talk to the API. The Icinga Director talks to a database in the background, and you can import settings from the CMDB to all systems in Icinga.""The drafts are easy but what I like about Icinga is that there are many add-ons that you can download."

More Icinga Pros →

"Real-time log monitoring with desktop alerts is valuable as it tells us immediately when there is an issue.""ITRS can define rules to alert when certain parameters that you monitor breach a threshold. Rules can be configured to fire recovery actions automatically to clear the alert""This solution has helped provide relief to existing Level 2 teams, allowing them to focus efforts on in-depth problem analysis.""One of the best aspects of Geneos is that it has a broad scope and can cover a lot of use cases. You can write your own scripts to monitor really specific things. And the rules that you can put in place can be quite complex for the alerts.""The built-in plug-ins allow administrators to easily configure monitoring components for market data systems such as Thomson Reuters Enterprise Platform and SRLabs Wombat (formerly NYSE).""The remarkable feature of Geneos is the dashboard. Geneos' flexible dashboard sets it apart from other monitoring tools. Other solutions have limitations in their dashboard design and can't be customized as much. The Geneos dashboard allows unlimited creativity.""The biggest benefit of Geneos is the fact that we can clearly see, if we have an alert, where that alert has come from. We can see the data around that alert and anything that might be relevant is also shown. We can very easily right-click and see why we've received that alert. That's the best part about it, that you've got all the data there with the alerting.""Custom script toolkits"

Cons
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"One of the areas that are frustrating is remote monitoring for more than one machine.""The user interface should be improved.""The solution lacks many features important to higher-level IT management and network support.""It needs Trap SNMP. I saw the documentation for Zabbix, that it has its own built-in product which handles SNMP traps, and there's nothing similar in Icinga or Nagios. I think this feature is most important for me.""The tool currently fails to provide notifications to users.""In general, the product does not look good. However, it does what it is supposed to do. So, the improvements should focus on usability and UI.""The installation and configuration are very complex.""I think the software is quite good, but we have had problems with getting it to recognize certain areas and amend certain checks, where we needed so we would have to create backend scripts for those checks. Though, being open source, it has the support to create backend scripts, it would be better to have these scripts in-built."

More Icinga Cons →

"I would like to see ITRS integrate its setup editor with a SVN to check-in setup XML after major changes.""I would like better access to the data that is being collected.""A lightweight version which could host more than 100 gateways, as we can see slowness while loading all our gateways.""It needs to be easier to configure, especially with the JMX plugins.""Sometimes, if there is a lot of data coming onto the servers, we have observed a little bit of slowness on the gateway servers which are doing the ITRS dashboard monitoring.""The dashboard feature is full of bugs. Grouping items results in a distorted dashboard.""We all look at the same things - CPU, disk space, paging stats, service status with RAG status on each. That could be provided straight out, saving significant time.""Much of the reporting outside of the user interface is very basic and requires much customization to be useful."

  • "You will get the best price if you get a single global deal."
  • "The product is priced quite high. There are pricing options for customers based on the size of the environment and plug-ins used by the monitoring system."
  • "Pricing and licensing is based on the requirements."
  • "The licensing cost may seem expensive upfront. However, the service is outstanding, the tool does things that no other tools can do, and the customizability more than makes up for the cost of licensing."
  • "Pricing is the touchy subject, even here. Upper management always wants us to find a cheaper solution. But we have so much integrated with ITRS... It's expensive, but it does its job very well. And you set it and go."
  • "It is expensive. They have to look at the model around when we move to cloud and how that's going to work. The licensing cost does pay off because of the improvements in support to our business."
  • "When I first came in, their pricing was very high. ITRS had a high expectation of what their price should be based on perceived value. I think they have been realizing, more recently, that there are other competitors, so their pricing is a lot better. Licensing for on-premise is okay, however I feel there is quite some work to be done for cloud and containers. We're still working with them to try and work out what that pricing should look like."
  • "Given our spend and the amount of service we have in it, the pricing is quite reasonable."
