Efficient management and upgrades streamline complex setups
My main complaint is about the blades on the frames, which seem to have a lot of problems. We often have to call HPE for replacements, such as for memory. Constant issues arise, leading to frequent replacement of blade parts. Additionally, the upgrade process is lengthy, requiring careful planning as we cannot match ESXi versions without aligning OneView first, leading to delays.

The setup is straightforward, but the satellite service installation file could be separated from the server one.
* The status overview page provides a state of computers monitored and provides quickly what users need to focus on * The satellite service installed on remote computers is an easy way to add clients, plus it's easy to deploy and to configure * The licence is perpetual and not linked to one computer, so it's possible to remove a licence from one computer and use it on another with no extra cost

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We cannot function without this solution. "
"OneView provides a single console, which is manageable without physical access."
"OneView is the one tool where you can manage your build environment, the hyper-converged environment, or the Synergy environment yourself."
"The analytics and monitoring tools in HPE OneView are superior to other network monitoring platforms such as Nagios, and the features include multiple modules that allow you to create and write your own scripts based on your requirements for different servers such as database servers or tapping roaming servers."
"Once setup, then it is more or less, forget about it; it just works away in the background."
"In 3.0, HPE has done a better job with firmware updates, added more features, and also enabled the possibility to stage updates on the iLO card."
"The stability is very good. I have never had an issue with it over the three years that I have been using it."
"The easy user interface was what I found most valuable in HPE OneView. For example, if I wanted to know the infrastructure status or I needed to send in any change commands, HPE OneView had simple buttons."
"The possibility to develop your own VB scripts."
"The satellite service installed on remote computers is an easy way to add clients, plus it's easy to deploy and to configure the licence is perpetual and not linked to one computer, so it's possible to remove a licence from one computer and use it on another with no extra cost"

Cons

"In general, I think the development of new features should go faster."
"The setup was very complex, but it wasn't always complex."
"One thing which is missing is that you can't actually log a support call yourself."
"I know we tend to have issues with our server profiles. When we're changing server profiles and applying them we run into some red flags occasionally."
"I would like OneView to support VMware."
"Use it, but do not think it is going into the clouds, because it is not. There is room for improvement."
"I have not given it a perfect rating because some features are missing like adding other storage systems and providing email notifications."
"I would like to see a change in the GUI, so that you can navigate easier."
"Basic monitoring on Unix was working really well but it didn't really help under machines in Windows Domain Controller."
"The satellite service installation file could be separated from the server one. It would reduce the size of the file, and reduce the time to deploy on weak connections."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Synergy does not require iLO licenses but servers and enclosures must be purchased."
"Use it. It is free."
"When it comes to the government, money is never an issue, so it was excellent in terms of the HPE OneView licensing cost. Hitachi was cheaper, but I'd rate HPE OneView cost-wise as eight out of ten."
"I would rate the cost as six out of ten."
"I think that the price of OneView is $500 USD per server, which is a little high."
"HPE could lower the price."
"I am happy with the price."
"I feel the product's price falls a bit on the higher side."
