Active data management enhances performance and simplifies operation
The active data management of Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform, especially with the HOPS Center, makes it easier to work with the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform infrastructure. Previously, it was difficult to create and delete LUNs, which would take a long time, but now with HOPS Center, it is functioning correctly. It is now as easy as working with EMC or Dell storage, and the performance is better, especially with new features. The solution's performance, security, and cost are satisfactory. These factors influenced our decision to purchase Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform.

Offers good support but there are issues with the language barrier
Huawei has a lot of penetration into accounts in Islamabad and the whole region, especially in Islamabad, because this is where our capital is, this is where most of the government offices are. They have a really nice marketing team that keeps on promoting all of their successes over various platforms. They are relatively cheaper when it comes to cloud services but they have a few weaknesses at the same time. IBM has AI tools and they have IBM Watson and Huawei doesn't. If you compare our deployment team from IBM versus our technical team from Huawei, with IBM we have five people, and for Huawei, we have 20 people. There is a major difference because you're getting more business from Huawei compared to IBM. We have a separate team for administration, installation, configuration, storage, and cloud.

"Its scalability and performance are the most valuable. It is quite scalable and has a huge capacity."
"It is robust. It doesn't need too much troubleshooting. It is a good device."
"For Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform, the most valuable features are its performance, reliability, scalability, data protection, and a hundred percent data availability guarantee. Additionally, it offers storage virtualization with both internal and external options."
"Hitachi's technical support is perfect."
"This is one of the most stable, high-end solutions in this area."
"The most valuable features are external storage virtualization and the 100 percent data guaranteed availability."
"Huawei has a lot of penetration into accounts in Islamabad and the whole region, especially in Islamabad, because this is where our capital is, this is where most of the government offices are."

Cons

"In terms of ransomware, Pure Storage is probably a couple of steps ahead of Hitachi, but Hitachi does not rush in terms of features. They want to be really sure that the hardware works properly without any kind of problem in new environments, and the implementation or improvement does not affect the customer installation. They really want to make sure that customers are not affected in any way."
"The controllers in the product do not provide options for scalability."
"Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform's GUI or interface for storage and management is a little bit difficult compared to Primera and HPE storage products."
"Not just anyone can do the deployment. So, the person needs a basic understanding and work experience."
"We've only faced some minor issues. For example, the documentation of some features isn't as detailed as we would like."
"The interface should be simplified and made easier to use."
"In terms of new features, I would be interested to see deduplication added in their next release."
"The replication technology that Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform uses is quite older, and the replication methodology they employ for data between the data center and the production and standby database shows no significant improvement in that particular field."
"It is an expensive product. They should lower the price."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is very competitive compared to other vendors. It really depends on the type of media we're using, like SaaS, SSP, or NVMe."
"A drawback of Hitachi storage systems is that they are expensive. The upfront cost is very high compared to others. But when you compare the IOPS at the same price, Hitachi gives you better business value..."
"This is an expensive solution."
"It is expensive as compared to other vendors, but its price is good if you are looking for stability, reliability, performance, and security."
"The costs were primarily in line with every other vendor at the time."
"The product is reasonably priced."
"I would like to see better pricing and more discounts."
"Our main issue with the Hitachi G-Series is what we consider to be an archaic software licensing scheme and high maintenance costs."
