Recording and transcription enhance global client meetings
Google Hangouts sometimes consumes significant resources. When comparing it to WhatsApp on desktop for calls, there are instances when Google Hangouts freezes or stops working, but switching to WhatsApp runs smoothly. This might be related to the resources Google Hangouts requires. The service occasionally experiences lag issues where the image gets frozen or the voice transmission becomes interrupted. When these issues occur, possibly due to internet connectivity or other factors, WhatsApp continues to function properly while Google Hangouts does not perform well.

Is excellent for video conferencing, with a very high usage rate
There are a few technical aspects that might need assistance, such as enabling Vidyo inside a web browser as opposed to using it via an SDK in an app. Occasionally, issues can arise when using video conferencing in third-party applications. Feedback from developers could be beneficial for improving these areas.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use transcriptions to document meetings, which is important for productivity."
"Hangouts is a lightweight solution that can be used across devices including phones."
"The solution is extremely stable; there are no bugs or glitches and it doesn’t crash or freeze."
"The best features of Google Hangouts include the option with Gemini to record and create call transcriptions and provide a meeting summary."
"The scalability is good; we have added a lot of users, and it's always working."
"The group chat is a very good feature, where you can see all of the participants on cameras."
"The solution is extremely stable."
"I think that Google Meet allows for easy interaction and has additional features, such as background blurring, among others."
"Vidyo is excellent for video conferencing, with a very high usage rate alongside Epic Solutions."
"I think for the companies with remote offices, they will experience a serious saving on travel costs."
"There is no reason not to use cloud-based solutions these days (such as Zoom, Fuze, GoToMeeting or even Lync/Office365)."

Cons

"The stability of Google Hangouts could still be improved. How virtual backgrounds are handled also needs improvement."
"Google Hangouts sometimes consumes significant resources. When comparing it to WhatsApp on desktop for calls, there are instances when Google Hangouts freezes or stops working, but switching to WhatsApp runs smoothly."
"Google Hangouts is not as feature-rich as Slack. Adding more features to this solution would make it better."
"Google Hangouts, however, was not [compatible with my device]. Google Hangouts is a browser-based application."
"The improvement needs to be done as per customer requirements."
"Google Hangouts could work on making the service better for slow connections."
"Sending documents and other things is not an option."
"Google Hangouts has breakout rooms now, but not as extensive as Zoom, so that's one area for improvement. I mentioned that I like the Google Hangouts captioning feature, but that could be improved. For example, importing Filipino-English captions here in the Philippines would be great."
"As a partner, I don't have direct access to Vidyo support document resourses."
"There are a few technical aspects that might need assistance, such as enabling Vidyo inside a web browser as opposed to using it via an SDK in an app."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This solution is available for free with the opening of a Google account."
"For individual use, there's no license requirement as such. For storage or some other purposes, if I go beyond 15 GB, then I need to buy something."
"There is an annual subscription to use this solution."
"There is a need to make certain payments towards the licensing costs attached to the product and some other tools that are included in the suite offered by Google. Google Hangouts alone as a product is available for free."
"We pay an annual license to use the solution."
"We access the solution through Google Workspace. It is inexpensive to use."
"I don't need to buy Google Hangouts separately because it comes free with Google Workspace, and it is also available for my personal Gmail ID."
"I pay $6 per user per month for Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Hangouts."
