Has supported quick dashboard creation and data sharing but lacks tools for managing multiple reports efficiently
We integrated Looker Studio with other platforms in our data ecosystem; we tried integrating with Sheets, and that went okay, but it could have been better. It could have been better because it needed a very specific format to read the data, so we had to reformat the sheet file. Looker Studio was mostly just helpful in that it provided live updating charts for tracking performance indicators in the organization. Integrating with a database was very difficult because there wasn't a lot of feedback for what was going wrong with the connection. I don't remember if we reached out to support. I didn't personally reach out, but my boss may have. I didn't reach out to support, so I do not have experience with it to rate it. We worked with the free version of Looker Studio initially, and we upgraded at some point to the pro version; I don't remember if we actually paid for it or if it was just a free trial. The pricing was reasonable. I remember doing a price comparison, and it was pretty reasonable, but it did have fewer features than a lot of other software, which was okay for a comparable price but a little cheaper.

Unified data workflows have improved reporting quality and now support better decisions
The best features Pyramid Analytics offers include a broad range of features, which I think is one of the advantages of it. It has a lot of connectors and a lot of different capabilities. I would say end-to-end capabilities is one of the nice features of it. Regarding the end-to-end capabilities and lots of connectors, I found the connectors most valuable. If you are trying to do Snowflake, SQL server, or any of the normal database platforms that you see in the cloud or on-premises, it has those connectors built in. You don't have to worry about writing custom drivers. That is a nice feature to have. Pyramid Analytics has impacted my organization positively in that I use it for my clients' organizations. For my organization, it is great because it gives me a technology platform that clients enjoy using and I am proficient with. For my clients, it is about delivering on their aspirations in terms of what they want to do with their data and where they want to head in their organization. This is definitely a tool that we can use in order to get there. After implementing Pyramid Analytics for my clients, I have seen measurable outcomes and specific improvements, such as having a single platform that gets them from the raw data to the endpoint reporting. I think that streamlining has a positive effect on the quality of the outputs. The quality of the outputs definitely leads to better decision making.

Centralized dashboards have transformed workforce trend analysis and speed up decisions
Tableau Enterprise helps us to consolidate the data and visualize daily and weekly trends in a clear and centralized dashboard, offering powerful features such as interactive dashboards, real-time data refreshing, advanced visual analytics, role-based access control, secure data, and seamless interaction with multiple data sources and automated reports. This will help us to analyze trends and collaborate across teams and scale analytics across the organization. These features help my team specifically by centralizing all employees' data in one place. This helps us reduce manual tracking and gives us real-time visibility into work from home versus office trends. The interactive dashboards allow quick decision-making, and the automated refresh time saves us a lot, while role-based access ensures data is shared securely with the right stakeholders. Tableau Enterprise has had a strong positive impact on our organization by improving data visibility, speeding up decision-making, and managing reports efficiently. The team can now access and track trends more effectively, and collaboration has improved using interactive dashboards. Overall, it has enhanced effectiveness and fostered a data-driven culture across the organization. The specific outcomes showing this positive impact include speeding up decision-making, which is the biggest impact because it saves us more time. Reporting time actually reduces sequentially since the dashboards refresh automatically. Data security is stronger, and data accuracy has improved, thanks to a centralized data source. Decision-making is also much faster since leaders can view real-time impacts instead of waiting for manual entry.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The integration with Excel and Google Sheets is a valuable feature, making it easy to access and visualize data."
"This has improved our organization by allowing people to see their data and develop visualizations themselves."
"The company dashboard is useful because we could share it via a link as a reminder for everyone to check it weekly. We observed the progress of our portfolio from last week to the current week, allowing us to compare revenues."
"This is a great tool if your organization leverages other sets of Google tools and needs some quick ideas that are a prettier and more interactive than Google Analytics."
"I find it favorable regarding speed of development, ease of building, and flexibility."
"The product's initial setup phase is very simple."
"The best thing about the tool is that it allows you to share information easily and dashboards with colleagues and teammates because it's all online. No matter where you are, as long as you have the Internet, you can connect and use these dashboards. Google made good documentation for this tool. There are many examples of how to use and create dashboards and videos on YouTube. So, I think it's easy to learn."
"The fact that Looker Studio is free and has a free tier was probably the biggest benefit; it is very accessible and not too difficult to use."
"We just replaced our old reports and chose Pyramid Analytics because the technology moved on, and we do just well in supporting our customers with a reporting tool based on Pyramid Analytics."
"With Pyramid Analytics, data analysis that took about half a day just takes half an hour right now, and in terms of overall revenue, we have seen a 100% increase in our overall revenue with the help of Pyramid Analytics."
"The features I find most valuable are 'Discover,' 'Formulate,' and 'Model.' I use them regularly to build logic and create reports for my job."
"I honestly think Pyramid Analytics is one of the most fully featured BI products on the market today."
"Pyramid Analytics has impacted the organization very positively, as we are able to make decisions much more quickly and we are able to spot risks and mitigate those risks in time."
"This solution is convenient and works well with simple data sets."
"Overall, I think Pyramid Analytics is the top visualization tool because it is easier to work with, and it has lots of features, which depends on how you are going to use it."
"It proved to be a very powerful and useful tool due to its breakdown capabilities, easy reporting features, flexibility in building custom calculations, and the ability to integrate them into reports."
"Tableau helps us tell stories with data."
"Tableau is easy to use. That's the first and most important thing. I not only provide consulting but I also train people to use it, so with its ease-of-use it's not as difficult for me to train executives and management staff, because they don't have the IT background, unlike when I'm using Python."
"Before we built a data platform using Tableau we were unable to align our employees around their data."
"Tableau in French is translated roughly to a blank page; you can do whatever you want on it, and in that sense, Tableau is so amazing because it really helps us manipulate and understand data in interesting ways."
"You can create attractive dashboards that inform users using Tableau."
"Tableau's most valuable feature is its ability to connect with various data sources and display real-time data on three different dashboards."
"You can create many different types of visualizations and charts, ranging from simple to highly advanced, and if you're doing advanced analytics, you can leverage Tableau by integrating it with other solutions."
"You can publish dashboards with Tableau Desktop and share them throughout the organization."

Cons

"Panels are not as easy to use as other data extraction UIs."
"Stability and scalability an be improved for a full ten."
"There is a significant degree of sophistication required to compete with Tableau or Cognos."
"It's not yet a replacement for a complete BI tool."
"The challenges with Google Data Studio are associated with the security part, making it an area where improvements are required."
"There are issues with integration and I encountered limits and warnings, especially with my pivot table size."
"Other tools might be worth considering if you need more advanced features or support for a larger user base."
"Insisting on forums, blogs and community outreach in communications, and posting videos on an established calendar would be useful."
"One area of improvement would be on the customer success or customer support; they are not very prompt."
"It would be desirable to have the possibility to generate a data dictionary, detailing the original physical tables, renamed fields, and derived fields."
"I think one thing is that Pyramid Analytics can sometimes have a slow loading speed, especially with large data pools, and the interface could be much more modern."
"The general amount of negative comments that I am hearing from my team makes me very wary."
"Pyramid Analytics could be improved to be more user-friendly. I thought the most difficult reporting tool was Tableau, but I found Pyramid Analytics to be somewhat more complex."
"I liked that I could write my own query inside Pyramid Analytics and extract the data the way I wanted it, but I did not like that it was too complex to display just a simple report, with so many menus and sub-menus, and the calculations were a bit complex."
"When creating a data model in Pyramid Analytics, it's a bit complicated compared to other tools, especially to Microsoft BI."
"Pyramid Analytics could improve by speeding up data refresh, especially for large datasets."
"Our local vendor support (in México) was so bad!!!"
"When it comes to large datasets, the data should be extracted faster."
"A strict security measure is needed. I believe it is weak in terms of security."
"It’s a little bit slow on my system. I don’t know why, but I am looking forward to them developing a lighter version."
"Its price is a concern. It is more expensive than Power BI. The other thing that I never liked about Tableau is its ability to handle large sets of data. To present the data in the dashboards, we have to stage it up exactly like it is going to come into the dashboard. We use another tool called Alteryx that does that for us. So, we manipulate the data, get it staged, and then push it into Tableau. Tableau is terrible at handling large data sets, and we knew right away that we couldn't use Tableau to do data manipulation."
"Only with SAP BW data sources."
"I would like to see Tableau provide a bit better integration with the Microsoft Office platform."
"We moved to Tibco Spotfire because of performance issues in Tableau."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is free but the Google Looker is expensive."
"The cost is quite affordable based on feature analysis."
"The product is available for free."
"I think the tool is cheap because you don't need to pay anything for using the tool. However, when connecting and analyzing other data sources, you should consider where to analyze this information because Google Data Studio doesn't handle much data well. You must also consider how you will connect this data to it. In this case, you might need to hire DevOps or a data team to help with these issues."
"The tool is free."
"The licensing cost is not excessively expensive, but it does increase with the addition of new features and modules."
"I wish there was more of a subscription model with the pricing when it comes to Tableau, so you can get all the latest version upgrades/features if you pay monthly/annually."
"Tableau has reasonable pricing."
"In Korea, the tool's pricing depends on the scale of usage. For instance, it's reasonable for a department with fewer than 50 users to adopt Tableau, like sales. However, the pricing becomes an issue when considering an enterprise solution for a larger user base, say 10,000 people."
"There is a license for the use of this solution and it is on a per-user basis. The server is free but the users you have to pay for."
"The license is very expensive."
"Buy 50 at a time. Project your use base every three months, and project your requirements forward."
"Tableau is not as cost-effective as Microsoft BI."
"There is a license for this solution and we pay on an annual basis."
