Robust API load testing has improved peak traffic handling but still needs a more intuitive UI
The ability to add scenarios, the ability to configure concurrent users per second, and the ability to define how long a particular test should last are valuable features. After that, I can draw conclusive reports and graphs around how well the particular test took, how many API calls were successful versus how many errored out, how many were failing due to authentication errors, and what sort of granular errors I got. That really helps us understand the scale at which our system is performing. I rely on the fact that we are able to add a particular number of users per second as simulations in the code or in Gatling Enterprise. The reason it is very important for my team is because it mimics the way actual users use our product in their day-to-day lives where there are periods wherein our system and product receive way more traffic, and that traffic results in way more downstream traffic, which Gatling Enterprise perfectly helps me capture. It has led us to have really robust scalability testing, performance testing, and load testing, thereby making sure of our system integrity during crunch time or during times of peak traffic. It has helped build confidence in our systems. We saw fewer outages and fewer periods of slowness in the product. Our number of customer complaints or customer escalations reduced by almost 20 to 30 percent over the period of a year when we initially started using Gatling Enterprise. As more and more teams are adopting this, the number is growing. It has led to real positive impact here.

Performance testing has supported web app peak analysis but needs better setup and smarter scripting
Regarding points for improvement for OpenText Enterprise Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Enterprise), I see that features are not being fully developed yet. If OpenText could think about bringing AI features into the tool, it could save maximum time in scripting or make scripting effortless, particularly in correlation, which is where the complexity involved in script development exists. If any AI features could replace or eliminate more manual work on the correlation part, that is where we could see a game-changing improvement for the tool. OpenText Enterprise Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Enterprise) can be positioned very well in the market. However, I see that the basic correlations are only being handled by the autocorrelation engine in the LoadRunner tool, and I would expect a few improvements to handle even complex correlation problems so that the tool can be appropriately positioned compared to their peers.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Gatling Enterprise has positively impacted our organization by streamlining the workflow, easing the task, and reducing manual labor."
"We saw fewer outages and fewer periods of slowness in the product, and our number of customer complaints or customer escalations reduced by almost 20 to 30 percent over the period of a year when we initially started using Gatling Enterprise."
"The built-in feature of Performance Center that does this, has made allocation of resources much, much easier."
"It is used to empower our organisation in assisting customers, addressing their concerns, finding solutions, and providing value, thus making it possible to put customer success first, and in the process, focus on the business."
"What we call the LoadRunner analysis is the most useful aspect of the solution."
"We can measure metrics like hits per second and detect deviations or issues through graphs. We can filter out response times based on timings and identify spikes in the database or AWS reports."
"It does everything you could hope for in a performance testing solution."
"The solution is a very user-friendly tool, especially when you compare it to a competitor like BlazeMeter."
"It is also good for reporting purposes, which would be most familiar for QC and UFT users."
"The most valuable feature is the analysis tool; it enables me to make a good, detailed analysis after a test run."

Cons

"The setup is a little difficult."
"The UI can be made a little better to understand."
"The solution is expensive."
"The price has skyrocketed, and to stay competitive, they need to reduce the licensing costs."
"Storing the results of our tests requires the use of a lot of memory in our data center."
"It would be beneficial if LoadRunner could optimize resource usage, especially for protocols that require significant resources, like TrueClient, which interacts directly with the UI. If they could improve resource usage, like ingest or for the load generator, using less CPU or RAM memory, that would be great. That's where I have problems."
"The solution is a very expensive tool when compared with other tools."
"Canned reports are always a challenge and a question with customers because customers want to see sexy reports."
"OpenText needs to improve in terms of support. With the same support plan but when the product was owned by HP, support was more responsive and better coordinated."
"A room for improvement in Micro Focus LoadRunner Enterprise is that it should take multiple exhibitions for a particular scenario and have automatic trending for that. This will be a very useful feature that lets users look into how many exhibitions happened for the scenario and their performance, and you should be able to see the data within the Performance Center dashboard. For example, there's one scenario I'm focusing on multiple times in a month, and if I check five times, there's no way for me to see the trend and find out how it went with those five exhibitions. It would be great if the Performance Center has a view of all five exhibitions, particularly transaction by transaction, and how they happened. If Micro Focus LoadRunner Enterprise shows you the time trends, information about one exhibition to another, and how each performed, it'll be an immense feature, and that should be visible to every user. Reporting should be simpler in Micro Focus LoadRunner Enterprise. If I did a scenario with one exhibition now, and I did that scenario again, then I should be able to schedule that scenario for the exhibition, and if that scenario is executed multiple times, there should be the option to turn it into a single view that shows you all the transactions, how the performance was, what the trend graph is for a particular time, etc."
