Improved daily operations with familiar ERP workflows but have needed better support and innovation
Overall, they have upgraded the user interface from Classic, which was Windows Classic, to a new UI. However, in the version we are using, there is no functionality change; only the UI has changed. There is no efficiency improvement, no better performance, no better operation flow, and no workflow change. The operations are merely a superficial change that is a little bit complicated. Our company has used Epicor for around 20 years, and there has not been much change in the last 12 to 15 years. Epicor Kinetic has a module-based pricing model. As customers, we have the license, but we cannot perform the certification; only their employees can do certification. They do not give certification to customers. Additionally, each module you add requires additional payment. For example, the HR module is not good, and the CRM is not good either. We already have it, but we cannot use it because it is not suitable for us. We use other modules such as engineering and finance, but we are not using them in full-fledged capacity. We are paying for six or seven modules but only use two or three, and if we want to use other modules, we have to pay extra. In the bundle they provide, only three or four modules are useful for us, and the others are not. We still have them, but we cannot exchange them for something else that might be advanced project management. Epicor Kinetic does not have anything regarding AI and machine learning. Currently, there is not really any integration in our systems; however, this may happen in the future since it is an ERP system. Everything is in one system, but we do not really have any integration currently. I believe they do have a REST API, but we have not integrated anything with it.

Has connected financial data across departments and improved future cash flow planning
I would like to improve the integration with other solutions, as I need everything integrated, like the HR module, purchase module, SCM, production, and engineering. Each and every module should be connected to the finance module, and I think Oracle provides the right solution. Also, SAP, IFS, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 offer some solutions, but I am not as happy with them as I am with Oracle. I believe that Oracle E-Business Suite could improve by transitioning from Java-based scripts in our system to a web-based environment. While Oracle already has JD Edwards available in web-based format, I think it needs to be smoother for optimization and presentation in the future. In comparison, IFS is fully web-based, and all applications are sufficiently good and user-friendly. We are developing and trying to improve to a web-based setup, but it is currently too costly.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Epicor Kinetic provides valuable functionalities for us as an ERP tool."
"Epicor Kinetic's user interface helps with planning and operation management as it has a module for planning and scheduling which is integrated."
"Technical support from Oracle has always been great; we have never faced any issues when it comes to anything related to technical support from Oracle, and there have been times when they went the extra mile to support us."
"Oracle has always been known for its finance modules and that is definitely a valuable feature."
"We've run our business on it for 15 years now."
"Financials, which are essential to all ERPs, and manufacturing and sales models are among the most valuable features. The specific features implemented depend on the company's needs."
"Oracle E-Business Suite improves forecast accuracy, reduces costs, and increases manufacturing capacity."
"Oracle's technical support is better than others."
"Oracle E-Business Suite has over 20 different modules to choose from, it is comprehensive. Additionally, the integration is very good."
"I like that one system covers everything."

Cons

"There is no efficiency improvement, no better performance, no better operation flow, and no workflow change."
"The weak point for us would be that we don't have enough resources to work on Epicor, so we are relying on partners which are outside the country and Epicor themselves."
"Reporting is a big area for improvement. It needs to provide the ability to extract data from the suite. Oracle has also been making a great effort to make E-Business Suite more user-friendly but there are still areas where a focus on User Experience would help."
"It feels like everything has to be marked severity 1, critical, 24/7, sometimes in order for it to get something done."
"Earlier when our organization was small they chose Oracle because in the telecommunication industry everybody was using Oracle. Our company has grown to a size where our particularly billing phase has created some challenges and now we are looking at alternate solutions. There is not a billing engine or module that you can buy from Oracle that can be added to this EBS solution to fix our problem. They should add a billing module or engine to the solution."
"As the pricing for Oracle E-Business Suite is too high and maintaining it is too costly, instead of users patching in a timely manner, they complain about the price, and only do the patching whenever there's an issue."
"It needs a better user interface; the forms and HTML split would be better if they were consistent."
"We would like to see some automation in this solution."
"We are on a slightly older version as we don't apply as many patches as Oracle recommends because we feel it's not stable. So we've definitely had some stability issues that have prevented us from moving forward for the product."
"Upgrading is a nightmare. I mean, I shouldn’t describe it as a nightmare, but I get nervous whenever they upgrade."

"We pay about $300 a year in order to license the solution."
"Oracle generally gives a lot of discounts."
"In my opinion, the prices for Oracle ERP are reasonable, especially considering the various discounts that are often available."
