Requires extensive customization and fails to meet manufacturing needs
My overall experience with Epicor ERP is extremely bad. I just finished a call with the team, and the experience is really unsatisfactory. I will not recommend it to anyone. There's extensive customization required for Epicor ERP, and the standard process is not suitable. Though it is meant for manufacturing, it is not performing the manufacturing job effectively. Regarding the installation process, the implementation is not the problem as the installation is fine. The issue lies with configuration. Although it's supposed to be configurable, it requires customization for everything we need to do. When comparing to JD Edwards and in-house applications, a process that takes one minute in those systems takes ten minutes in Epicor ERP because users have to navigate through different screens constantly. If a user forgets to switch to one screen, the process remains incomplete, making end-user training extremely difficult. There's no automation and workflow feature that can be used without customization. Everything requires changes, making it similar to developing a new platform from scratch. Initially, we anticipated some benefits from using Epicor ERP, but based on the current outcome, it has been completely unsuccessful. The main issue is that everything requires customization rather than configuration. Unless they change their whole approach from customization to configuration, this product should not be used anywhere.

Offers great integration capabilities and allows just the real-time inventory
Dynamics GP improves inventory management by offering real-time inventory tracking, and automated purchase order creation, receiving, and updating inventory levels. It facilitates site-to-site transfers and allocation tracking, enabling efficient stock management across locations. The integration capability of Dynamics GP, combined with Power Platform, has transformed our business processes. We now use PowerApps to enable salesmen to send orders electronically, eliminating the need for order books. Additionally, we developed HR apps to streamline tasks for our staff, leading to automated processes and improved efficiency. Our experience with Dynamics GP reporting and analytics features, particularly Advanced Analysis, has been great. We utilize customized smart lists for purchasing and other functions, allowing for tailored insights over specific periods. Additionally, we have developed custom dashboards for enhanced visibility and support portal integration. I wouldn't recommend Dynamics GP due to its legacy status and impending end of support. However, if integration with the Power Platform is crucial and the company prioritizes modernization, it could still be a viable option. For new companies, I would suggest considering Dynamics 365 Business Central for a more modern solution. Overall, I would rate Dynamics GP as a seven out of ten.

Centralizes our enterprise-wide functions but could benefit from cloud migration
We have dealt with customer service, and it was awful. For a system this size, it felt like we were merely buying software from them. They weren't really partnered with us on it. Reporting bugs and getting feedback, as well as having engineers work on issues, was very transactional. There was no real ownership on Oracle's part. During several support cases, it became difficult to determine ownership at Oracle and get status updates. The on-premises Oracle support is not great in my experience, and I think this is true in the industry. We've read about their software as a solution, and theoretically, their SaaS portal support is a lot better.

"I find the job management features of Epicor ERP most useful, especially for material planning. The ERP gives a perfect overview of many aspects. The scheduling is also helpful. It lets us see what we're planning and try different scenarios. For real-time analytics, I use it mostly for planning and "what if" scenarios."

"The solution is great for production planning because everything is out of the box. It smoothly handles the process from engineering to ERP, including version management and subcontracting. These features aren't in NetSuite."
"It's enhanced by a subscription billing add-on, to efficiently automate billing and invoicing, particularly due to our substantial customer database."
"We have gained the capability to control and address various issues within the financial module effectively."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to easily update and maintain accurate data across all aspects of our operations."

"Snowflake's ability to handle large queries efficiently is very beneficial, unlike other databases which can take a significant amount of time for similar tasks."
"The stability was reliable."

"E-Business Suite's best features are the standard process, the table dictionary, and the ability to work with the SQL language to correlate data."
"Before, we used a lot of manpower in our operations, in the backend, but this is a service. We have eliminated some unnecessary processes."

Cons

"Right now, it doesn't really have a good cloud story."
"The tool should provide a better user interface."
"The main challenge with implementing Epicor ERP is finding the right partners, especially in Europe."
"The UI is quite logical, but it needs time to train users because some functions are complex to understand. As for cons, some calculation logic is difficult to grasp and requires time to test and try out. Creating dashboards or reports needs some technical IT knowledge."
"A number of bugs in 9.05 were only fixed in 10."
"AI and additional improvements could be made."
"I would like to see a better reporting tool."
"Epicor didn't care about user level and software applications. So, it's not so user-friendly for nontechnical people."
"At times, navigating the user console can be challenging, particularly when trying to find account information."
"The biggest problem with GP is that it's not cloud based and it doesn't lend itself to subscription licensing. But Microsoft wants everything in the cloud and licensed on a subscription basis.Even tThough GP can be deployed on a cloud server, but basically, it's a Windows based product. It uses the older model and companies purchase the program and pay a 16-18 sixteen- eighteen percent annual renewal fee but Microsoft wants everybody to pay monthly or annual renewal fees on a subscription basis."
"As for room for improvement, they have different modules, project and analytical accounting, but it will be good to have that kind of part in the standard package. To have that additional reporting functionality where you can add an attribute or something, which you can report again. So you can analyze the cost by not just natural accounts but also by a project, without having to go through another module edit on top and then the other module edit on top. The more modules you add, sometimes it doesn't work that well. Additionally, it would be easier to have the solution on the cloud. That's our consideration. We are trying to move all our systems to the cloud, and GP is one of them that we are going to move in the next couple of years. I would rate the solution seven or seven point five out of ten."
"This is now a legacy product, so they're phasing it out over time."
"I would rate technical support for Microsoft Dynamics GP on a scale of 1 to 10 as six or five maximum."
"As technology changes, I would say probably in the area of chart up account needs improvement because chart up account is a string. So if they make it more flexible."
"Dynamics GP could be improved in terms of its usability and modernization."
"Many of our customers are migrating to the cloud rather than staying on-premises."
"They started on the mobile app and tablets, but still I see there are no short-forms used in EBS."
"HRMS analyzers should be automatically updated to be the most recent because Oracle support always asks for the latest version of the analyzer output."
"We need more user-friendly fast formulas for all HRMS modules."
"Administration takes some effort. Administrating the technology stack is not so complex but application aware database administration and following the new methodologies like online patching can be a little complex and time consuming. Oracle should ease the administrators jobs and do some innovation on this administration area as well. Oracle Autonomous Database is Oracle's leading technology these days. Using a similar approach, application stack may become a little more self-managing."
"The initial setup was a little complex."
"It's more expensive than other options due to licensing costs and core-based hardware."
"Standard reporting needs to be changed. Many of the standard reports look the same as they did in version 10.7, 20 years ago."
"The reporting needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Epicor ERP is an expensive solution."
"User support could be improved as well, as the consultant charges are very high."
"The initial cost may be a bit high, but the maintenance cost is lower."
"Pricing isn't a big problem for the solution - I haven't seen them lose deals because of it."
"We bought an on-premise version of the solution. The cloud version is different. I've looked into it, but it's very competitive on the low end of the market."
"When comparing Epicor ERP to the other related products, the pricing, additional enhancements, as well as implementation, are better."
"I would say that the pricing is moderate, not cheap, and not expensive. There are many more expensive ERPs than GP, and there are less expensive as well, so it is moderately priced."
"For us, in our local currency, it costs us around 5 million Botswanan Pulas a year. It's quite a lot of money."
"I think the tool is competitively priced and it's more of a one-time investment with a low annual renewal fee."
"Its pricing and licensing are high. Of course, we all know that it is Microsoft."
"It is an affordable solution."
"The solution's price is steep."
"In comparison to other ERP systems, the pricing is not necessarily inexpensive, but it can be considered more cost-effective."
"We evaluated some local products, because of the pricing, but this product has better features and support."
"E-Business Suite's pricing could be lower."
"I have found the solution overall to be expensive. There are additional fees on top of the standard license."
"It costs too much."
"Licensing is on a yearly basis. There is an initial cost, and the standard fee is 22% per year."
"Both the current projects and future projects should be defined well. Licensing should be done according to current and near future plans."
"The solution is quite expensive."
"Pricing for Oracle E-Business Suite is seven out of ten. You must pay extra for maintenance and technical support, apart from standard license fees."
"We have an annual license to use the Oracle E-Business Suite and we have an enterprise license."
