Cloud security has improved remote access and has reduced costs for smaller client sites
I have used Cloudflare One's Identity-Aware Proxy, and it is quite straightforward from what I have seen so far. The app registration on the Azure side integrates fully into Cloudflare, and I am very satisfied with that part because it is easy to set up. The integration of Cloudflare One's Secure Web Gateway and Zero Trust Network Access works without any issues. That part is pretty automatic, and if you complete the rest of the setup, it comes together by itself with no issues from my side. What makes it nice is that we can actually start replacing on-site firewalls at this stage for the smaller clients because it does not matter if they go to a coffee shop or work from home; they are still secured by the same connection. The hops get shorter and you get better latency. We have done testing to see if it is better. One thing that we did notice with our proof of concept with our current client is that they have people connecting from the UK. When they used their previous VPN solution, uploading CAD drawings and other files to the server took a long time. They mentioned that it is much quicker on Cloudflare One's solution. I definitely believe that is part of the improved performance, and I am satisfied with that as well. What is nice about Cloudflare One is that it makes the setup easier and also easier to train technicians to maintain it. Compared to legacy systems, we do not need to get fancy firewalls in place that are costly. That is definitely also a cost-saver with Cloudflare One.

The reporting in Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention is a little easier than most Microsoft portals. I understand the licensing cost, especially if you're a Business Premium or in the SMB world, and a lot of clients run with a Business Premium. That comes with data loss prevention in a manual process, whereas E5 gives automation. Microsoft has said, 'Okay, here's your Microsoft 365 E5 compliance add-on that can go on the Business Premium.' So Business Premium users can get the data loss prevention features of E5, which is fantastic. That was the big point that they were missing, and I'm glad that they actually have an add-on now that makes it possible. So truly, I don't think there's a downside. Maybe more reporting, but that's it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cloudflare DDoS is better than its competitors for its security, deployment, and scalability."
"The best feature is rate limiting. If I'm expecting 500 visits per hour, Cloudflare will limit the requests if I suddenly get 50,000."
"Enables me to work from two locations."
"Cloudflare is simple to use."
"Using Cloudflare One makes my work quite easy because for DDoS protection, all I need to do is understand the OSI model and click; it makes it easier than trying to write a command line or use a Linux command."
"It is a stable solution."
"Cloudflare is by far the most effective solution that I have come across."
"Cloudflare DDoS mitigates DDoS attacks."
"I like that the core functionality is not in different modules. The event correlation is quite powerful."
"I like the sensitivity labels and data security posture management for AI."
"The tool's most valuable feature is in the area of OCR."
"It's secure and can be integrated with an existing Forcepoint DLP setup."
"Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention has absolutely helped improve my organization's ability to manage data because we use M365 for the majority of our knowledge worker storage, and that's where people's data lives."
"Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's responses are faster. Its installation is also reliable. The security score helps with the security part."
"The solution's most valuable feature is the mature O365 DLP, which works with SharePoint and Teams."
"When you are going to use Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention, most of the setup is already done by default as per your needs."
"The policy customization feature is very useful, and we have successfully used the auto policy configuration."

Cons

"The response time for support must be reduced."
"When there are any dynamic changes in complex applications, the tool takes a lot of time, making its analytics-related area a major matter of concern where improvements are needed."
"They don't have a person to provide support for customers using the solution under their free plan."
"The pricing is an area that can be improved. Pricing, as far as I recall, was the source of our problems."
"Lacks a VPN feature to provide a secure connection to the data center."
"The onboarding process can be improved a little bit."
"Cloudflare DDoS has poor technical support."
"For the topic of improvement, providing some training material is one of my suggestions."
"Incident management could be improved, along with enforcement capabilities, which DTEX does not have at the moment."
"The main disadvantages of Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention in comparison to the Netscope product are notable considerations."
"The stability and reliability of Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention is great. Besides the weird timeframe where it takes a couple hours for a rule to sync and 24 hours to appear for someone, I don't really have an issue."
"There is a lot of ambiguity when you are setting up labels, such as sensitive information labels. It is a little daunting at first if you don't have prior knowledge, and there is a little bit of a learning curve for setting up the labels. Some of the setup wizards could be more helpful from an AI perspective. They can streamline the setup through more AI technologies so that you don't have to jump through so many hoops and different menus and dropdowns. It would be useful to have a setup wizard that is more hands-off and engaging for setting up the information type labels. If you tell them this is what we're trying to protect, it should basically start to lead you down that path of best practices. Such a feature would be great."
"Because it's an academic institution, we got really excited about the level of granularity we could implement, but that granularity overwhelmed our users."
"I would assess the stability and reliability of Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention as being flaky at times, where eDiscovery sometimes takes forever or doesn't bring the results we expect."
"At this time, I have not seen a return on investment with Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention."
"More training for end users on how it works would be beneficial."
"We faced a performance issue with the tool when we didn't get alerts for file uploads."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is somewhere in the middle. I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten."
"Cloudflare Zero Trust Platform's pricing is good."
"The solution's pricing lacks transparency."
"The solution is not that expensive."
"My company has to make yearly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the solution. There are no hidden charges apart from the licensing costs of the solution."
"The pricing of the solution is cheap. The licensing cost is also very low. I rate the cost and pricing a three out of ten."
"The prices are slightly expensive."
"The price tag is no longer $200,000, but rather $300,000 to $400,000. It's twice."
"Pricing wise, DTEX would be a four on a scale from one to ten, where one is the highest price and 10 is the lowest price. It is not the cheapest solution."
"Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention is part of a bundle and is not sold as a standalone product."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"It is a part of our Microsoft licensing. We pay for a yearly renewal. Its price is reasonable for the size of the organization we are. It is fairly competitive, and you get what you pay for. We have an E5 license, and a part of understanding the E5 license is to see what all you get with it. If you really look at it from that standpoint, you get a lot of value. You have Defender and all its security features in there as well. Their licensing is fairly flexible. They have different programs. We've seen ones where you could pay for up to three to five years in advance. There is also a monthly pay-as-you-go type of deal, but we're doing a yearly renewal and fixing the budget."
"We are using the E3 license for Microsoft 365 with the E5 compliance license add-on."
"You get the solution in a bundle if you get the E5 suite."
"If one is very cheap and ten is very expensive, I rate the price as one out of ten."
"The product has the best price-to-performance ratio."
"Though I am not a specialist, the tool is quite expensive."
