Dell's specialization in cybersecurity gives it a unique feature set.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Commvault Cloud offers straightforward deployment with flexible scalability and a blend of automated and manual support facilitating easy integration. Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery emphasizes guided setup with robust customer service support for its security-focused design.
Pricing and ROI: Commvault Cloud offers competitive pricing structures with good ROI, backed by scalable models suitable for various business needs. Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery has a higher setup cost justified by its unique cyber recovery features, offering strong ROI for security-focused businesses.
Instead of purchasing multiple backup tools, I can now use one tool to manage or back up all environments.
The biggest return on investment for me when using Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery is that if we had an attack, we would be able to recover in hours instead of weeks or months, which is a lot of risk reduction.
It is possible to observe ROI with Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery because the costs incurred from paying ransoms or decrypting data will be much higher than the solution price itself, providing customers with confidence in their last line of defense.
The biggest return on investment when using Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery comes from its ransomware protection feature.
The number of people who know Commvault Cloud is lesser compared to Veeam.
At the pre-sale cycle, we have spocks aligned from Commvault with whom we get in touch, and they provide all the required support that we need.
Customer support has very closed departments, requiring us to shuffle between them to get one thing done because representatives have limited accessibility.
I would rate technical support and customer support a 10 because honestly, their support specialists go above and beyond.
We have an account manager for enterprise solutions and local on-site support with a resident engineer positioned on-site.
Every time I have a call, they have a solution.
The ability to recover, ability to air gap it, and ability to replicate it have all worked very well for us.
In terms of scalability with Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery, it revolves around the same concept as Data Domain where you can scale up or scale out.
Currently, my Cyber Recovery satisfies my data needs, with my data domain actually sized around 40% larger than it needed to be, in order to predict the available growth of the data I am bringing into the vault.
I have not faced any downtimes with Commvault Cloud.
Commvault Cloud is highly stable, and I would rate it a ten out of ten.
The stability and reliability of Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery are very good, as we have not had any outages on it.
Until now, I have not experienced any downtime, crashes, or performance issues with Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery because we have a support contract with Dell.
When we assess the stability and reliability of Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery, I would rate it on a scale of zero to ten as being between nine and ten, if not nine point five.
I would like to see AI capabilities in Commvault Cloud.
I feel that the support is not yet up to the mark, with not enough professional engineers to provide assistance.
Making more advanced features such as ransomware recovery easier to use would improve Commvault Cloud.
It would be beneficial to deploy an AI model inside the vault for more accuracy and faster restoration by scanning the data for any anomalies or unusual behavior.
I would like more visibility into what is going on with the individual backup images and how they are being scanned.
My main problem is with the bare-metal recovery.
Commvault Cloud is expensive, and there is room for the price to be 10-15 percent lower than what they are charging currently.
I do not consider Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery to be expensive as it provides value relative to the ransom that would need to be paid to restore data and the difficulties faced after an attack.
Regarding pricing, I find it a lot cheaper than Veeam.
We have been very satisfied with the pricing, licensing, and setup costs of Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery.
We can back up unlimited TBs due to our per node license.
Other features include endpoint solutions, integration with Office 365, ransomware protection, archival for long-term retention, and no ingress or egress charges.
The public cloud acts as a bigger solution for the on-premise while the on-premise acts as a DR for the public cloud workloads.
The second advantage is restoration, as I can guarantee that the data inside the vault will be clean and can be restored quickly using a golden copy that has been identified as clean.
The main function of cyber recovery, which I find important, is the air gap protection, and that is the most important capability we are using against ransomware protection.
It helps my IT infrastructure be more secure mainly because we have replication of the backups on two physical sites, which is a plus.
