Provides superior backups, protection from ransomware, and the ability to move data to the public cloud
It has provided superior backups and protection from ransomware I find all the features of this solution excellent. The ability to move data to the public cloud is valuable. The pricing and the partnerships with AWS and Azure can be improved. I have worked with it for two years. Its stability…

Infrastructure efficiency has improved significantly with quick server provisioning, though physical to virtual migrations need a streamlined in-house tool
From my experience with Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), there is one area that needs improvement. When moving a critical infrastructure from a physical machine to Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), we currently have to use a third-party tool to convert the physical machine to a VM. We have to use VMware converter to perform this conversion before moving it to Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI). I would suggest that Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) should develop their own P2V (physical to VM) tools instead of requiring users to rely on third-party solutions.

Pros

"I find all the features of this solution excellent. The ability to move data to the public cloud is valuable."
"I find all the features of this solution excellent, and the ability to move data to the public cloud is valuable."
"Flexibility. We're able to mix performance nodes with storage nodes easily. Unlike other vendors where, if we start a hyperconverged solution with them, we have to stick to a specific model, to a specific series with specific capabilities, with Nutanix it's very easy to mix and match the best solution, especially for a dynamic infrastructure like ours."
"The solution remains stable across versions."
"Technical support is okay."
"The scalability is great."
"The most valuable aspect of Nutanix is the performance of the storage, which is excellent. And controlling compute, storage, the network, and security all together in one box is very efficient for us. It gives us a single platform to manage our all infrastructure."
"Scalability is the most valuable feature because it is easy to scale-up and scale-out without impact in performance since it is always online."
"Now, we can worry less about the technology and focus on other business value initiatives."
"It is 100% stable. It's the most stable infrastructure that we have."

Cons

"The pricing and the partnerships with AWS and Azure can be improved."
"The pricing and the partnerships with AWS and Azure can be improved."
"The scalability of Nutanix Acropolis AOS could be better."
"The licenses for Nutanix are very complicated."
"Nutanix Acropolis AOS which was integrated with Dell was not running well. What was running well was less than 50%, and the other updates have failed because of issues between the firmware, the server, and the system."
"I'd like to see an improvement in the notifications because it's not very useful as it is now and it's quite difficult to find out what the problem is when something goes wrong."
"There is a feature in Nutanix called fault tolerance that could be improved."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure lacks compatibility with certain older processors."
"Deployment could be more user-friendly - currently, it requires certain skills with the network and nodes."
"The processing power is OK, but for the future it needs to be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is on a per case basis."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure could be cheaper. It's costly to upgrade the solution. There are no additional costs aside from the license."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure’s pricing is very good and competitive."
"Pricing for Nutanix Acropolis AOS is higher. This is one of the reasons why we were looking into other options."
"It is less expensive than the VMware alternative."
"This product is less expensive than some of the competing HCI solutions."
"The product’s licensing fee is moderately expensive."
"Its licensing is fine. They provide the flexibility to choose from different options. You can go with the standard plan. You can go with the pro or platinum plan. Generally, our clients go with the pro licenses, but if you go for the platinum license, you get even more capabilities. Their starter license is also quite good."
"Nutanix Acropolis AOS is affordable, it has good value. The final price depends a lot on the hardware used, it's an appliance in the end. Whether you use HPE as the hardware vendor or Supermicro as the hardware vendor, it really depends on what hardware is used which is the main cost."

Nutanix vs. VMware EVO:RAIL vs. FlexPod
Originally posted at www.storagegaga.com/dont-get-too-drunk-on-hyper-converged/ I hate the fact that I am bursting the big bubble brewing about Hyper Convergence (HC). I urge all to look past the hot air and hype frenzy that are going on, because in the end, the HC platforms have to be aligned…
