Unified risk scoring has improved our cloud visibility and simplifies remediation priorities
Qualys TotalCloud provides unified vulnerability and threat assessment across both IAS and SaaS. This solution provides a single prioritized view of risk, which helps reduce the work I would have to do. We are no longer based on CVSS; we are based on Qualys risk scoring, which is based on CVSS plus internal findings made by Qualys, and then assigns its own score. The TruRisk insight feature has found a small number of assets with high vulnerability scores, though I am cautious since some information is classified. Qualys TotalCloud has positively impacted our bank's performance, and we have definitely seen benefits after implementing this solution.

Stronger cloud security posture has reduced misconfigurations and simplifies compliance checks
The best features of Cloudanix are security posture management and monitoring cloud assets, reviewing security alerts, and tracking compliance across the Azure environment. The most valuable feature for my team is the security posture management capability. This provides a clear view of misconfigurations and security risks across the cloud environment, and it prioritizes them based on their potential impact. This helps us focus on the most critical issues instead of manually reviewing everything. Cloudanix has a positive impact by improving overall cloud security visibility and reducing the time needed to identify and remediate security issues. This has helped us respond faster to misconfigurations, strengthen the security posture, and reduce the operational effort required for cloud governance. I can provide rough metrics, though not internal metrics. The time required to identify and remediate cloud misconfiguration has been reduced by almost 40 to 50%. This is because it automatically prioritizes the highest-risk findings. We also reduced the amount of manual effort spent on compliance reviews and security checks, allowing the team to focus on higher-value work.

Automation helps reduce human error, and platform suggests the best configuration to apply
The optimizations are the most useful aspect because most customers have a very unmanaged network with a lot of rules. We use a lot of the optimizations in our reports for improving firewall rules. It also provides our clients with full visibility into the risks involved in firewall change requests and that is very important because our clients are often banks that must be in compliance with PCI. And when it comes to preparing for audits and ensuring that firewalls are in compliance, the solution is very useful. We are able to do it very fast. We can do a lot of iterations and get better policy rules all the time. Although not many of our clients are migrating to the cloud, for those that are, AlgoSec is useful. The part of the process that takes a long time is the human part. We must have gap committees and approvals that take a long time. But the integration itself is very easy with AlgoSec. We have all the information in our hands about the traffic we must enable on the cloud and for making new rules. All that is automated.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Qualys TotalCloud's most valuable features are its security capabilities that help identify and mitigate risk factors."
"Qualys TotalCloud has positively impacted our organization by helping us save time and manage all assets and remediation, allowing us to achieve quarterly and half-yearly goals."
"TotalCloud provides the easiest and the best approach for cloud infrastructure management."
"Qualys TotalCloud has helped us view our risk structure, vulnerabilities, and security posture."
"The most valuable feature is extensibility."
"Qualys TotalCloud has positively impacted our bank's performance, and we have definitely seen benefits after implementing this solution."
"If someone were to ask me to review Qualys TotalCloud, I would summarize it as an end-to-end solution for cloud security with visibility and governance-grade controls without needing to manage multiple disconnected tools."
"TotalCloud's best feature is the integration of cloud accounts. It helps with the risk and security posture management of our cloud infrastructure."
"Choosing Cloudanix has proven very efficient and intuitive, and it remains easy to handle compared to other products available in the market."
"Cloudanix has a positive impact by improving overall cloud security visibility and reducing the time needed to identify and remediate security issues."
"The most unique feature is the ability to help fix any gaps or mismatches in the configuration of the firewall."
"If you look at it that way, AlgoSec has saved the business maybe a couple of years of salary."
"Because we get about 60 to 70 rules to deploy a week during the firewall maintenance window, we might create some duplicate rules or open duplicate ports. AlgoSec has become very helpful whenever we need to find out the nodes or subnets that have already been created, then we don't need to create the duplicate subnet of that particular IP address."
"AlgoSec has good tools to manage policies and devices. Many administrators like how it helps you monitor and clean up the policy for the on-premise firewall."
"It has certainly improved the way our organization functions."
"The optimizations are the most useful aspect because most customers have a very unmanaged network with a lot of rules. We use a lot of the optimizations in our reports for improving firewall rules."
"Overall, my experience with this tool and its technologies have been very good."
"Automation has helped to reduce human error and misconfigurations."

Cons

"Qualys' customer service provides quality answers, but the response time is long, even though it is within the SLA."
"Overall, we are satisfied with it. However, the response part of the Cloud Detection and Response (CDR) module can be improved. It is not yet in place according to requirements; it is not completely available even though the module has been released."
"Qualys's ticketing system can be confusing when assigning tasks to individuals, and support could be improved by offering instant call solutions with engineers in addition to ticket replies."
"Two areas for improvement in Qualys TotalCloud are the speed of the public cloud platform and vulnerability detection."
"The onboarding process is a bit difficult. In the initial phase, it is very difficult to understand the features, what the dashboard contains, and what criteria they are using."
"In TotalCloud, I would suggest improvements in policy checks to cater to various inventory types like VPCs, subnets, S3 buckets, or IAMs. There is a lack of data segregation according to criticality or inventory."
"With the growing integration of AI, I would like Qualys to enhance its service offerings to better accommodate AI-related risks."
"Qualys TotalCloud's increasing complexity, due to the development and deployment of multiple solutions, is making the GUI difficult to navigate."
"Cloudanix could improve by addressing the limitations in terms of customization."
"AlgoSec is a platform that hasn't really been developed as much as we would like to just because of its complexity to set up."
"AlgoSec cannot be integrated with solutions that require two-step or multi-factor authentication. Embedding multi-factor authentication capability into the solution would be a valuable feature."
"Now that we've moved to the VM it is more stable and independent of hardware."
"The analysis part can be improved when I make a flow request. There should be a clear analysis of which metric part needs to be opened and which firewalls will be opened. It should give you a bit more graphical visibility about these."
"There is a little bit of scope for improvement in the risk profiles that come with the AlgoSec Firewall Analyzer module. Currently, AlgoSec provides only three standard zones within a risk profile. These standard zones are external, internal, and DMZ. Everybody's network is divided into different zones within a data center, but AlgoSec only provides three zones. This is a limitation that I see for the risk profile analysis. If there was an option to customize these zones, it would be great."
"We work with multiple security vendors. It's rather difficult to integrate the vendors. AlgoSec is a platform that hasn't really been developed as much as we would like to just because of its complexity to set up. If it was easy to set up and easy to get integrations with other companies, then we would be doing it. But the thought is that we are relatively stretched thin in our team as it is and the complexity of configuring AlgoSec doesn't make it any easier."
"The technical support response time is low. This might be due to the coronavirus pandemic situation, but I am not getting full support when working with them."
"I know that the information that I got from algorithms that I wrote myself, which are not fairly complicated, gives a lot more visibility in terms of what's wrong within the policy, as compared to what the tools do."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It isn't cheap, but it's reasonable. It helps us to manage things with very few resources."
"As a middle management member, I do not have direct pricing knowledge, but based on the knowledge from our meetings, its pricing is competitive."
"TotalCloud's price is about right where I would expect it to be."
"Qualys TotalCloud is expensive."
"Its price seems higher compared to other tools, but it is worth it. If they could adjust the pricing and make it comparable with other tools, that would be great."
"The pricing is comparable. It is built into our other product, so I cannot piecemeal it. It is a part of our subscription."
"Although Qualys TotalCloud is relatively expensive due to its unique automation features, its cost-effectiveness is rated an eight out of ten, with ten being the most costly."
"The cost is high, but it meets our organizational needs."
