We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is open-source. It supports microservice orchestration. This is what we are really interested in. We can customize our products depending on the use cases.""The flexibility is great.""The best feature is the automation.""I love that Camunda is a very developer-friendly platform, and my customers have evaluated the pricing as reasonable.""The most valuable feature is that, with a visual system, you can try to have a process client before beginning the programming for the application.""It's user friendly, much better than most tools I have seen.""We are using the BPMN engine of Camunda; we are not using the user interface. We are using just the engine, the back end of this. For us, it is working quite well.""We can share, discuss, and develop the model together — from a distance. It's really helped us during these times of isolation."

"Salesforce is a very powerful tool which helps us to build that through tools like Process Builder or Flows, or even write code to achieve these scenarios.""I would recommend Sales Cloud for anyone who has a sales team that needs to be optimized and for any size of enterprise.""Salesforce's user interface is easy to use, and the reporting is good. It worked well with Excel, so I was okay with it. I don't know about integration with any other software because I didn't have to deal with them.""This is a stable product.""The most valuable feature of Salesforce Sales Cloud is for teams the ability to do marketing on our page and to manage their marketing leads. You are able to close a deal and do the renewal. For the life cycle management for customer management, we use Salesforce Sales Cloud. The performance of the solution is good.""It is nice to have the install base information at your fingertips when you look up a company.""The performance is good, and it is easy to use.""Suitable for all sizes of organizations."

Cons
"It has a Postgres database at the backend, and it is very difficult to scale if you increase the number of processes running. We did hit some barriers. We were able to overcome them, but it was a problem. Camunda has another product called Camunda Cloud, which supposedly doesn't have the same scalability problems, but we are not using Camunda Cloud because the set of features is smaller than Camunda On-Premises. So, its scalability can be improved. Because it has a single database, it is more difficult to scale if you have a huge success.""I think that Camunda can try to do better when it comes to solving the complexities of all the products in its software stack.""Process interfaces between diagrams could be improved.""The business model could be easier to understand.""I would like to see better pricing.""The documentation could use improvement.""The only drawback is the time that it takes to have a complete set of workflows implemented on the Camunda platform.""They have a migration plugin that can be used to migrate from one BPM to another BPM. It is in the beta stage since last year. If they can make it available in the market, it would be great. We are going to have a couple of migration projects for migrating from IBM BPM to Camunda, and this plugin would be useful. I have already discussed this with them two weeks ago and asked them to look into this and add it as a feature. We are expecting this plugin to be available in the next version. This is the only requirement we have at present. They keep on coming up with different features, which is helping us a lot. Its latest release that came out last month was awesome."

More Camunda Platform Cons →

"I would like to see a more affordable licensing model.""An area for improvement would be the ease of configuration.""It could have a more user-friendly interface.""Salesforce Sales Cloud needs a more user-friendly interface.""I don't like the way parent-child relationships work in transactions between records in Salesforce Sales Cloud. NetSuite is a little bit more user-friendly in that sense. Salesforce Sales Cloud requires that you build everything from scratch. I don't like that. It leaves a lot of thinking and solutions to the consultants and the process is more prone to errors.""In the next release, I would like to see more integration.""It would be nice if they had an ERP offering or a firm strategic partnership with a best-in-class ERP. So rather than say they're just ERP agnostic, you would pick whichever ERP you want, which is very generic. I think it would have a lot of merit if they partnered strategically with a best-in-class trusted ERP platform or acquired an ERP platform.""The licensing price could be cheaper."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The cost of this solution is better than some competing products."
  • "Licensing costs are anywhere from $80,000 to $100,000 USD per year."
  • "We use the open-source version, which can be used at no cost."
  • "I think Camunda BPM can improve their licensing costs. It isn't easy to find clients with Camunda BPM licenses mainly because it's quite expensive."
  • "When compared with the proprietary products, the pricing costs are much less, even though it is an enterprise edition."
  • "There is an open-source version available, that in its core features (workflow and decision engine, modeler) is exactly the same as in the enterprise version."
  • "Generally, the price could be better, as well as the licensing fees."
  • "We pay for the license of this solution annually."

  • "The subscription is on a monthly basis."
  • "The main issue is the price. Because it's SaaS, you will have to pay on a monthly or yearly basis."
  • "It is a premium product, so it is not the cheapest solution. I think if it's implemented well, and you're getting the soft cost benefits, the efficiencies, it's justified. But not if you're looking at just apples for apples as a subscription, without the complexity that you can achieve. It can deal with complex business requirements. Some other CRMs can't. But you certainly pay, so it's a premium-charged solution. It's one of the more expensive ones."
  • "I have found Salesforce Sales Cloud to be expensive. However, it is the number one CRM solution in the world. It is worth the money."
  • "The main thing is it is costly. Salesforce it is not cheap, it's costly. Some of our customers say it is a costly solution. So, we have lost some sale opportunities regarding the high price. This is the main thing that we are facing. It is sales per user and the user price is about $150 per month, per user for the Enterprise Edition. The other edition is less than this, but it is costly. A company that has 70 or 80 users would pay more than $8,000 USD yearly because it is cloud based."
  • "My understanding is that Salesforce is a little bit expensive, but in terms of the efficiencies, automation, and visibility, I think it's definitely value for money."
  • "Implementation and add-ons may be additional costs."
  • "Being license based, the license varies by type. The pricing is considered average."
