Plenty of useful feature and reliable
We use Asigra for backups I have found all the features useful in the solution. I have been using Asigra for approximately two months. The solution is stable. The six people in our IT department are using the solution. The initial setup was a medium difficulty level. Some parts were complex…

Technical support has improved my data management process but I encounter GUI and cost challenges
The solution is available in the Azure Marketplace, but approaching directly is more cost-effective. The Marketplace approach incurs additional platform and reporting costs. We initially built Rubrik at host level and DB level. We encountered latency issues when reverting back, with numerous snapshots available. This resulted in increased costs and occupied spaces. I performed manual deletion of snapshots and verified with the Rubrik team for confirmation. The GUI reporting functionality lacks flexibility. For instance, obtaining specific server reports considering drive space and backup quantities is not possible, as it only provides overall reporting.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The agentless architecture has minimized our software footprint at the client level."
"I have found all the features useful in the solution."
"The solution has been very stable."
"It has helped us to provide comprehensive data protection with high recovery rates and a malware scanning feature."
"They have a great PowerShell module and easy mediums to speak to the people who create and enhance them."
"I would rate the solution's web interface at eight out of ten. It's just fantastic and intuitive. It's so easy to use. I've never done any formal training on Rubrik, but I was able to quickly come to grips with its capabilities."
"Mounting recent backups to create new servers rather than cloning servers in VMware drastically cut down required time."
"For data security, anomaly detection, site monitoring, and threat hunting are very important features that help customers."
"Overall, it makes operational life way easier."
"The user interface (UI) is great. It is very lightweight and intuitive."
"Rubrik has led to improvement by reducing the amount of failed backups, leading to a reduced workload in IT operations."
"Rubrik is a faster unit from a hardware perspective. Things, like Live Mount, mean we can bring services back straightaway, then have them transition back into the live storage in the background. Because we can use Live Mount to do instant restores, a restore is now a five-minute job. Then, the rest of it is done in the background, rather than doing something for an hour before you actually get the restore back."

Cons

"The management could be a bit better."
"They should improve the malware scanning capabilities, extending it to protect cloud application data."
"Price-wise, Rubrik needs improvement as it is considered expensive compared to similar competitors."
"I would like to see more information on encryption with the next release."
"The same test case in Rubrik takes more than six to seven times longer, meaning the on-premises SLA is significantly faster."
"I would like to have a built-in index searching ability of files/system files within the Rubrik interface to determine if a file or item exists, rather than just recovering it, and then doing a search for the file afterwards."
"Its reporting can be improved. Sometimes, I need to create reports to know whether something is available or not, how much frontend data is being protected, etc. Rubrik gives a lot of things in the report, which can be confusing. It isn't very easy to get reports. It shows all the backup, index, replication, and everything else in one report. So, I have to export, filter, and then do the calculations."
"It needs more storage array integration options and an easier restore for files that download using a browser."
"Better integration for complex NAS structures having to mount at root adds time and workload to the process of NDMP."
"The only thing that can be improved is catering for open source databases because at the moment it doesn't cater for Mongo, MySQL, and Postgres."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Asigra could improve, it is expensive. We have purchased an annual license."
"Asigra is priced competitively, but requires technical expertise to operate, optimize, and maintain its services."
"Rubrik was probably the most expensive solution but in the long run, it's justified by the value of the data that it protects."
"The initial setup cost includes support and maintenance costs, followed by a monthly fee."
"It is an expensive product."
"High priced when considering a total change in backup solution."
"Rubrik is priced high, but it was the solution that was providing us encryption and was secure. The solution price is high, but you get what you pay for."
"It is a great value, but its cost is still a bit high."
"The cost was less than our previous provider, and this is a much better product."
"Rubrik is not the cheapest solution, but we've been happy with the time savings that we have seen. At least from what we have spent so far, we have been happy with the return on investment."
