Has supported hybrid IT environments effectively and offers strong data protection
With Arcserve UDP, the most valuable feature is to improve persistent data, which I consider important. I use other products too, not only Arcserve UDP, as we use TrueNAS as well. Arcserve UDP improves the precision of data. I have utilized Arcserve UDP's data deduplication feature, and the data deduplication feature helps my storage efficiency significantly. I have used Arcserve UDP's continuous data protection. It is beneficial for operational continuity because we use it constantly and have no objections to Arcserve UDP technology; I think it is very good. Arcserve UDP's integration with multiple operating systems is very good and very efficient. This brings value for me since many of my clients have different operating systems like Windows and Linux; there is no problem. Regarding the deduplication and compression with Arcserve UDP, I think Arcserve UDP is still a solid solution that we primarily use.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Data store deduplication, which saves space on storage and time to backup."
"My advice to others is if they want a comprehensive solution where they can do backups of their servers, applications, emails, and user systems Arcserve is a good choice."
"I like the solution; it's working well for us."
"The ROI is very good because of the speed of the backup."
"Arcserve is user-friendly and allows us to back up all the servers and centrally manage them."
"The ability to switch between different hardware platforms and utilization tools are some of this solution's most valuable features."
"If you just want VMware or backup, it's okay, but in an extensive manner, if you want to use backup technology and tools, then it does not have the flexibility."
"This is a good solution because it offers multiple hybrid options."
"I have found all the features useful in the solution."
"Asigra is a cost effective solution and very competitive in the market."
"It has helped us to provide comprehensive data protection with high recovery rates and a malware scanning feature."
"Once you have Asigra, you are set, it’s a rock solid platform that works every time."
"It allows our backup engineers to build great relationships with customers as they know their data is being protected by best-in-class software."
"The Asigra product on the whole is a fantastic solution and I would highly recommend this as it delivers everything our business and our subsequent customers required."
"Asigra's client-less approach is one of the best in the industry."
"The solution has been very stable."

Cons

"The product requires too many VMs as intermediaries."
"I don't know whether the tool has VMware integrations. It would be good to cover this area if it doesn't have those."
"In the most recent version of premium plus the replication has been removed, and it should re-added to the solution."
"Bad. They delay completing the analysis of a problem and absence of contouring solution for unresolved problems."
"We cannot restore each user's mailbox. Each user's mailbox should be independently restorable. Also, this solution is very slow. If you select all of the servers, it runs for a long time... It needs to be faster. Finally, If anything happens to one server we should be able to switch to another server."
"The solution can improve by allowing older versions to support the latest version of the OS."
"The support could be more knowledgeable and faster."
"The solution could improve by being more user-friendly. It can be difficult to assign destinations and choose which files and folders we need to back up. There are some aspects that are unclear."
"Technical Support: 5/10, Due to different timezones it would always be difficult to get hold of a tech."
"The GUI isn't the slickest, because Asigra has opted to focus on features and capability over a shiny interface."
"The management could be a bit better."
"Product would occasionally encounter issues when it impacted other software."
"Asigra's implementation and day-to-day costs are very high; necessary features can significantly increase the cost of implementation."
"They should have 24/7 support for customers in different time zones. They are slow to respond to requests, and I get the impression that the ServiceDesk is overloaded."
"At present, downloading the relevant files and placing them into a directory on the DS-System is a little cumbersome and open to error/malicious use."
"Customer services would be a 3 out of 5, simply due high turnover and lack of communication."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive."
"It is a bit pricey, considering the reliability problems. If the tool worked flawlessly, the price would be fair, even cheap."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a four or five out of ten."
"There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well."
"We only have the maintenance of three standard UDP licenses. Each license is 50 Euro. There are some additional costs for the storage and software but it has nothing to do with the UDP."
"The solution is priced well compared to other solutions."
"In comparison to other vendors, it is a low-cost solution."
"The retail fee is $1300 for a year for one server. Other than that, there is just the cost of your hardware."
"Asigra is priced competitively, but requires technical expertise to operate, optimize, and maintain its services."
"The price of Asigra could improve, it is expensive. We have purchased an annual license."
