I would recommend Broadcom DX Application Performance Management if a customer doesn't have any existing performance solution. However, ten years ago, the solution was better, and now there are many competitive options. My overall rating would be between six and seven. The product rating I would give is 6.5 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"From a testing standpoint, ignoring license and cost issues, it's not a bad product."
"This tool has great scaling capabilities, i.e., no limitations."
"CA APM reduces our time to resolution and improves our customer confidence."
"As all of our applications are monitored by CA APM, it's now easy to analyze unusual behavior in a normalized way."
"The deployment was easy."
"CA APM is the go-to tool for any performance-related issues."
"The most valuable feature of this product is the CA Customer Experience Manager, as it shows the real impact on the customers."
"It covers from mainframe, all the way to dotcom, for example. CA currently covers Amazon, Microsoft Azure, Office 365 monitoring."
"The time it takes to track problems in applications is the most valuable return that we have from this solution."
"I found the solution's end-to-end analysis and flexibility most valuable."

Cons

"My concern is with Automation integration."
"The upcoming changes for the deployment process of the agent will help a lot, in that others have gotten to that point first."
"We can't implement the TIM in our environment because we have issues with a virtualized environment."
"The CEM (Customer Experience Management) product is still immature and do have hiccups."
"APM has been good in the Java space, and less good in the everything else."
"One of the areas that I think needs improvement is the central management of the agents."
"The GUI feels sort of archaic. It doesn't have a modern look and feel to it."
"The biggest area of improvement of APM is with the GUIs."
"They need to add support for new frameworks, or at least provide a broader guide/perspectives to add them to monitoring specific agents to retrieve metrics with thresholds as a reference to guide the customer as to where they must go to achieve this."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Broadcom is a better and cheaper option from the financial perspective. It also depends on the DLP plug."
"The license for Broadcom DX Application Performance Management is annual. The licensing model could improve because there is not any limit to deploying the agent, there should be some limits on it."
"Pricing and licensing are not issues."
"The pricing structure should be based on memory or CPU usage rather than the number of agents, as it makes the solution more expensive for us."
"Negotiate a lot, but do not forget to buy the product because it is worth it."
"Althougth it is a bit expensive, it is really worth it"
"Depends on the size of the product you need."
"There is some research needed to determine licensing costs, based on the number of DataPower instances for the Nastel agent, for example."
