Dashboards facilitate prompt alerts but discovery feature needs enhancement
I would recommend Broadcom DX Application Performance Management if a customer doesn't have any existing performance solution. However, ten years ago, the solution was better, and now there are many competitive options. My overall rating would be between six and seven. The product rating I would give is 6.5 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In our experience, technical support has been excellent."
"The APM tool allows us to monitor performance of that application, where are the pain points, where are the slowdowns, to focus on where we can fix those."
"The most valuable feature of Broadcom DX Application Performance Management is its very light model with monitoring of servers and network items."
"One of the great features of CA APM is the analysis of application performance problems."
"Cross-platform business transaction tracing supports the ability to monitor end-to-end performance across the stack, providing granular insight into customer experience KPIs, which are a critical success factor for organizations."
"CA APM not only does root cause analysis, but it is smart enough to proactively identify an issue that could happen and advise me to do something to prevent it."
"We don’t have performance bottlenecks or leaks in production any more and act proactively to prevent their occurrence."
"Handling of issues has become proactive rather that reactive, with Introscope flagging issues before they become a crisis."
"It's a flexible APM solution that can be deployed across multiple applications."

Cons

"The new experience center needs some improvement to works with all the attributes, but it offers great potential."
"Sometimes the workstation hangs or becomes unresponsive. However, the web application works worse, is ugly, and we prefer to use the workstation."
"The documentation could better. It doesn't provide good descriptions of what some data are doing, and there's no good place to see what all the data might mean."
"The fresh technology should have been out a long time ago."
"The integration with CA Spectrum is quite difficult to create, and it is also only one way, only being used to view alarms coming from CA APM."
"The support could be better. It is difficult to access the right person, and incidents sometimes need escalation."
"Team Center requires a number of tweaks to allow per-user/group configuration to customize the interface for groups of users, though I believe these are already in the product roadmap."
"It takes a long time to get it set up and configured in your applications and running."
"Scaling out requires the added cost of multiple servers, and we don't have plans to do that."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing and licensing are not issues."
"Negotiate a lot, but do not forget to buy the product because it is worth it."
"It is definitely expensive for what we get, but there isn't an alternate option at the moment."
"I'm unable to give information on Broadcom DX Application Performance Management licensing costs, but all Application Performance Management products have expensive pricing. This means that it's not only Broadcom that's expensive, and it would be an advantage if the cost would be a little bit cheaper."
"Setup costs are quite competitive relative to other solutions, and simpler."
"Althougth it is a bit expensive, it is really worth it"
"Broadcom is a better and cheaper option from the financial perspective. It also depends on the DLP plug."
"The pricing structure should be based on memory or CPU usage rather than the number of agents, as it makes the solution more expensive for us."
